    Great Budget Set

Love these! These are a great budget choice. I have reviewed several other gaming headsets from the $30 range clear up the $350 range. These are closer in price to the $30 sets, but almost as close to quality and sound as the $300 range. First and foremost, for all of those of us who have had a marathon gaming session that goes for hours and hours, comfort is of utmost importance. These do not disappoint. I wore these for a 3 hour session and had no lasting discomfort. The foam cushions easily cover the ears blocking out most ambient sounds while still providing an ease of wearability that is great. From a comfort standpoint, these are very good. One of my favorite features of this Corsair is the 7.1 Dolby support. The surround experience is very good. Sounds seem to "move" in the sound-field all around you... Over, under, L-R/R-L and all around this offers an excellent surround. The mic works very well. Fully adjustable and the sound (according to those who I was talking to) was great. End of the day, these are an excellent value for the daily gamer or for the semi-pro who demands comfort, surround and all at a great price. I would recommend to a friend.

Sounds good, but too tight for me

Pro: -Great sound -Immersive surround -Nvidia broadcast in iCue Con: -Headband feels narrow -Tight clamping force -Not glasses friendly Build: These are very light and even though it’s plasticy, it feels rigid and sturdy. The band doesn’t flex very much, thus making it feel narrower and making the clamping force tighter. The foam cushion is soft with the leather material. The cups pivot and rotate making a good fit around the ears. The mic is soft flexible rubber and folds up to auto mute. The cable is long and flexible. Sound and Mic: These sounded very good, and the surround really feels immersive. The surround mode does boost audio balance so the mids are louder, but it’s a good trade off for the spatial audio. In Cyberpunk 2077, it really sounds like people are walking around me, while cars drive past me, and the direction of distance sounds. In more intense games, I can hear the enemies moving around me and the sound effects are clear and boomy. The EQ can be adjusted in iCue, where you can also switch between stereo or surround. The mic is decently clear. It’s still a bit quiet and muffled, and not full sounding, but it’s clear enough for in game chat and Discord calls. The iCue can also support Nvidia Broadcast that can use RTX to eliminate background noises and it works really well. It also cancels out most breathing noises. Comfort: For me, this wasn’t very comfortable to wear. Even though it’s light, the rigid plastic makes the clamping force tight. It started to give me a headache. I own the cheaper HS45 and the premium Virtuoso XT, and those had less clamping and were more comfortable to wear. I’ve seen people say these are comfortable so your mile may vary. It’s also not very glass friendly since it’s squeezing puts a lot of pressure on the glasses. The foam cups are soft but do get hot after a short time. Final though: These sounded great and the surround can be immersive. The mic is a bit quiet and lacking fullness, but it’s clear enough for chatting. The narrower headband and the clamping force made it uncomfortable for me. I didn’t have this issue with any other Corsair headsets I’ve owned. It’s bad enough for me to pass on this one. However there are plenty of positive reviews so it may just not be for me.

had high hopes for this headset as everything else from Corsair I have is great. Unfortunately, as soon as I took it out of the box, just feeling it felt cheap. The plastic feels cheap, and the ear coverings feel cheap, so an extremely poor impression to start. The one pleasant thing about it is that it is light, so I was wondering if it would sound any good as other light headsets I have had do not. That sound was the one bright spot. I am not an audiophile, but I have had back ear buds or headphones and know when they do not sound right to me. I was surprised that when playing games it actually sounded decent, and I tried out a few vidoes and it was fine too. Outside of the general build quality feeling cheap, the other odd thing is how you connect it to your PC. It essentially has a 3mm plug like you use headphones that are not for a PC, but then an extra USB plug that you plug in there. The nice thing is I can use the headset on other devices, but for me at least I usually just play and don’t take my PC headset away from my PC. Due to this setup, iCue and the ability to control the headset really doesn’t do much. Sure you see the headset in iCue but you cannot do anything with it outside of see it there. Overall its not a horrible headset but if you’re looking for a PC gaming headset there are better options out there. If you want to use it for PC and other devices, this is OK, but that’s not the way I use it.

I had previously had the opportunity to try other Corsair headphones and most of the time it is a great experience, these wired headphones fulfill their purpose correctly. I didn't have high expectations because for the price you pay you understand what product you are getting. They are a lightweight headphones, the truth is that they are very comfortable, also includes an adapter that, at least in pc, will require to install the iCUE software that allows you to improve the audio and microphone volumen, does not have many customization options but it is helpful to equalize the audio, in this area I recommend doing it manually because the presets in some frequencies distort the sound a little. The headphones have a long wire but not too much, I think it is long enough, the earpads are very soft and comfortable. Regarding the microphone I haven't had any problems and the sound is clear, it has the flip-to-mute function to silence it, if you need to improve the sound quality is also possible from the iCUE software like I said. On the left side of the same side where the microphone is located, is the volume control, very useful by the way. In conclusion I can say that these headphones Corsair HS55 surround, for the price, are worth it, they may not have a premium quality sound but they do their job satisfactorily. They are compatible with most platforms and consoles which allows you to get more out of them, if your budget is tight these headphones can be a great choice, recommended.

First off, these are pretty comfortable. I have a large head, so it is snug at times. The ear cushioning is flexible enough I can wear glasses with them if I play with the seating of the earpieces. Sound is quite good. Using this either with the USB dongle or direct to my laptops audio out jack does not affect the quality of the sound at all. Control is another story. If plugged in to the audio jack, the headset controls do not work. I must rely on the laptop/keyboard controls. Connecting using the USB dongle and the controls work pretty well. With one caveat. You need to install the iCue software otherwise sporadically you volume, base, treble etc. will all have a mind of its own. I have had a high pitched sound coming from somewhere, until I realized it was from the headset. Just glad I did not have them on. The sound was piercing. After installing iCue, I have no had that happen at all. The software will allow you to control the headset via an equalizer. You also control the surround sound (which is scarily accurate). A neat offering is Voicemod. Not sure how often I would use it, but you have the capability. It is a free download to try it out. There is also a NVIDIA Broadcast offering that sends me to a dead page. Overall, I really like these headphones. They definitely provide surround sound and a really fantastic audio environment. I dropped a star because of the requirement to have iCue on all my PCs that I may be logging in to with these. That means I can not use them for work since I do not have admin rights on the laptop. Might just be a driver issue, but still an issue.

PROS: - Great audio quality (especially with USB) - Great mic quality - Move mic upwards to mute - Comfortable - Decent sound isolation - Metal adjustment band - Ear cups swivel inwards for storage CONS: - You might prefer a detachable mic == SETUP == While I would recommend downloading and using Corsair's iCUE software (customizable EQ) if you're using this on a PC, it's not required at all. It's one of the best things about this headset: just plug it into whatever device (PS4 controller, phone, tablet, Switch, PC, etc) and you're good to go! I love using this headset with my PS4 and Switch, but you'll get the most out of it if you're using the USB adapter. The adapter is how you'll be able to take advantage of Dolby Audio. == AUDIO QUALITY == Music audio quality of gaming-headset has GREATLY improved over the years, and while I would still prefer a non-gaming pair of headphones for music, I'm quite impressed with the HS55. In-game audio and music sounds really good, even when I'm using the 3.5mm connector with my PS4 or Switch. Part of what makes the audio really good is the natural noise isolation. While previous wired headsets had (very) comfortable and breathable fabric mesh ear-cups, the HS55 goes with the "fake leather"-like material that does a great job of blocking out a lot of external noises. The material will make your ears warmer, so just be warned if you have warm ears or play for long periods of time (especially in the summer). If you want to take advantage of the Dolby Audio 7.1 "Surround Sound", you'll need to use the USB adapter with your PC. I would also recommend that you download Corsair's iCUE software. iCUE will let you set your own preferences with a customizable EQ, or you can use their own profiles. == MIC QUALITY == I don't have any complaints about the mic quality. The HS55 isn't Corsair's top-tier headset, so I wasn't expecting broadcaster-quality sound. Everyone in chat said I my voice was clear with no issues (both with the 3.5mm connector AND the USB adapter). The mic arm is bendable, so you can position the mic at your preferred distance/position from your mouth. The mic is NOT detachable (which could be a deal-breaker for you), but it does flip upwards when you don't want the mic in front of your face. Flipping up the mic also has another important feature: muting the mic. There's no need for a button, or to use a software mute button. Just flip the mic up, there will be a physical "bump" feedback, and the mic will be muted. == DURABILITY == I love that Corsair changed up the design from their previous HS45 and now the ear-cups can fold inward to make the headset more compact for storage and travel. Unlike the previous HS45, the HS55 ear-cups are using a non-breathable material that's very similar to "fake leather". This is great for noise isolation and cleaning, but you may find your ears to be much warmer. Unlike some other budget gaming headsets, Corsair did NOT cheap out and go with a plastic adjustment band. The HS55 has a metal adjustment band, which is also black to match my black headset (I don't know what color it would be on the white HS55, but I'm guessing unpainted silver). == FINAL THOUGHTS == Wireless headsets have their advantages, but I really love the simplicity of not worrying about if my headset has enough of a charge, especially if I'm switching between playing on my PS4, Switch, and PC. The build quality is decent, I love that I can just flip up the mic to mute it, and that the ear-cups finally swivel inwards for improved storage/portability.

Excellent pair of high quality, high volume headphones. I've recently made the switch from wireless to wired headphones for most of my gaming and other listening needs due to lighter weight and louder volumes. These are at the upper echelon of any headphones I've had. Super lightweight with incredibly comfortable and cool ear pads. This makes them comfortable and easy to keep on for extended gaming/listening sessions without any head/ear/neck fatigue due to the larger heavier wireless ones with batteries built in. Sound is incredibly crisp and clear, my only surprise is that they don't have a bit more bass based on their size. Don't get me wrong, these do have plenty of clear low end sound but I like a lot of heavy bass so I guess I was just hoping for a little bit more. These are also very loud - they keep sounds crystal clear and sounding great all the way to full volume but I honestly rarely have these turned up all the way since they really do get that loud - an extremely nice feature as compared to some headphones I've had that simply do not get loud enough to hear over background noise sometimes. I don’t know how they do it in this small headphone package but the “surround” feature of these is incredible. It really is like watching a movie or playing a game in a room with 7 directionally located speakers and a sub. This unit has a built-in retractable boom microphone. I've never heard it from the other end but seems to work fine with no complaints from anyone I've ever talked to over it. Makes for simple multiplayer communication while gaming or chat sessions. They have a handy volume adjustment knob in the left ear housing for quick 1-finger volume changes. This takes the place and I prefer this to an in-line volume control in the cord which can have the tendency to catch on things and be a pain when wrapping up cords. Speaking of cords, these have a standard 1/8" headphone connector and work well with any source. Very stylish and nice looking as well. They are simple black overall with some brushed metal accents for a clean and classy look.

This headset is very small, and I have a tiny head! It must have been made for a child. The mic was so far away from my mouth that no one could hear anything which is a problem as o work at a call center. The product overall felt very flimsy. Unfortunately nothing good to say for it. I'm not sure where all the good reviews come from!

That's unfortunate, please do return the headset and look at our other offerings as something else may be of your liking.
