The keyboard functions perfectly. Even though it is plastic, the quality feels good. I used to move around my old Dell keyboard by just putting force on the side of the keys, but this keyboard is heavy enough to not slide. The colors are fantastic. The software is easy to use for the lighting basics, but could be more difficult when attempting elaborate designs. The keyboard is also fairly quiet. Overall, great keyboard. It is definitely worth the money, but I couldn't bring myself to do it without gift cards.

The keyboard that illuminates your keys

The keyboard is well built and heavy, the keys have a very nice feel to them with the right feedback as you type . The lighting is just the sweet icing on the proverbial cake. This helps when working late at night and you don't want to use any extra lighting or when your playing games and want to highlight the keys you used more often. The only drawback is the software that comes with it being very limited and not intuitive, at least when your using this on a Windows PC, the Linux community have created a better version that works perfectly, unfortunately it is not available to the Windows platform. Yet the keyboard itself is still very much worth the going price.

This device has almost all the features you could want. The lights are gorgeous. The software is not as hard as everyone makes it out to be plus that software is updated all the time. The quality is also very nice. I love the way the keys feel when I type. As for the bad, I wish it had dedicated media controls. I just put those controls on my mouse using macro keys to get around it. Which leads to the other con. There are no dedicated macro keys. Yes, you can make any key a macro, but when you are looking at what keys will get used, It's hard to find some that won't get used at some point. Dedicated macros have nothing to do with the normal function of a keyboard, so they are nice for extra tricks you want to setup. That said, I've found ways to do everything I need. Don't let that stop you from getting this keyboard. it is great. If you like customizing your lighting, then there is no better option. No lighting smoother or more precise than this.

Best Mechanical Keyboard

I purchased this over the black friday weekend sale and I gotta say, this thing is incredible. I switched over from my CM Storm Quickfire keyboard with cherry MX blue keys because I found it a bit too clacky and a little too easy to actuate certain keys. The Strafe just outright FEELS much more fluid and natural with each key press and for me, how a keyboard feels when you use it is 90% of the reason to buy it. Responsive keys, plenty of options for customization, looks beautiful, and performs the best with gaming and general all around use out of any mechanical keyboard I've ever used. The one single con I could possibly find with this is that the power cord is rubber and not braided, but its easily overlooked because of how well this thing performs. Well done Corsair.

I’ll start by saying to know that the programming software is currently having its bugs, but that’s besides the point.
I personally do not prefer super clicky keys (especially for streaming - it messes with my mic audio) so the silent keys are a huge plus for me.
The customizable keys are a huge plus and really keeps me from missing missing my WASD if I move my fingers for whatever reason. Extremely solid build and much better than the logitech G810 IMO!

This is hands down the best and most advanced gaming keyboard I've purchased. I previously used a Razer Blackwidow but this keyboard has far more personalization for hardcore gamers. Silent keys, individual key lighting color, programmed key macros and far too many features to list.

OH MY GOD! This keyboard is insanely better than I thought it was going to be. I played around with the in-store display and it felt nice but I wasn't sure about it. Now that I have used it for more than a month I can say that I am in love with this keyboard. I switched from a Logitech g710+ (brown) mechanical keyboard which I also loved very much. It took a little getting used to because this keyboard is smaller but it didn't take long to get used to it. The switches are different of course ( corsair is RED switch whereas the g710+ was a brown switch) but I find myself loving the red silent switch more than I did the brown. The only issue I had with this keyboard was the software for setting up the RGB lights. It was a little confusing at first but I figured out how to get all of the lights one solid color. This keyboard is amazing and I actually got it on sale before Christmas for $45 (was $90). If you are a gamer and want a cherry MX red switch that isn't so loud then this keyboard is for you. The full RGB backlight is only a HUGE plus.

-Pros-
Lighting
Layout
Customization
-Cons-
Thick cable
Bulky / flashy cable connections
Prior to purchasing this keyboard I was using a rather standard HP keyboard with a few multimedia keys I never really used. So when I started searching for a new keyboard I decided on a few things I was after.
1) Natural feel
I wanted a keyboard that I didn't have to "learn" how to use and just felt natural to use. I tried a couple different gaming keyboards like the G910 and Blackwidow before this one and found the layout uncomfortable with the macro keys extending the keyboard out the side instead of up which threw off the natural feel for me. The strafe felt incredibly natural to me with no new "learning" needed. It doesn't have any extra dedicated keys like the other keyboards though aside from the keyboard lock button and lighting button, which is fine for me because I have played just fine without them so far.
2) RGB lighting
Since I first saw lighting on keyboards I have always wanted one instead of my usual hum drum keyboards with no lighting. The strafe puts on a fantastic light show and the software allows you to set up a bunch of different variations of lighting such as: wave, pulse, visor, rain and my favorite spiral rainbow - THE COLORS! You can also customize different lighting options in the software that are not presets. It has a white back under the keys which some RGB keyboards do not have that gives the lights more presence.
3) Sound
I wanted to dive into the mechanical keys, but I didn't want keys that sounded like they could overpower a conversation while typing. The strafe has keys that are quieter than standard keyboards that use membrane keys which was a nice selling point for me. I usually hate textured things on peripherals and thought the textured space bar would be a real nuisance for me, but surprisingly it doesn't feel bad at all and almost feels natural, which I found odd having used non textured space bars all my life.
-Notes-
I would like to mention I recently had an issue where the preset lighting effect I had selected did not come on when I turned my computer on like it normally did. I went into the software to see if anything needed to be updated, but everything was up to date. So I unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in and the lighting effect came back on. It has only happened once so far, but figured it worth mentioning if you have similar issues.
The keyboard also has a USB port in the back, which many find convenient, but I never use it so I did not include it in the pros section. It should be noted that in order to use that port you have to plug the second cable that is split off from the power cable into a USB port on your computer, so you don't get an extra port, but rather relocate the one on your computer to the back of the keyboard.
In the cons I mentioned thick cable and bulky connections. The cable itself is very thick being about three times the thickness of my standard keyboard. In the middle of the cable it splits off into two smaller cables to power the keyboard and for the USB port on the back of the keyboard. The connections also have this bulky and flashy yellow casing. These things aren't really an issue for me personally, but I also don't see them as pros and could see them as cons for many neat freaks and people who like a somewhat low profile on cable management so I included them in the cons.

I had bought a k65 alum RGB short board but one key was not lighting so I tried to return it but no more in stock. I went ahead and got the Strafe instead of waiting and I am glad I did the quiet clicks are great and feel correct! The only thing I like about the k series more is the alum. frame and volume roller but I would buy the Strafe silent again! Recommend to anyone who wants a quieter press and overall great KB! Thanks!

This keyboard is exactly what I have been looking for. I wanted a quality keyboard that is backlit and not insanely loud like most mechanical keyboards. I tried other keyboards at various stores that use green MX switches, Razer's own orange switches which are quieter, and various membrane keyboards. Was not able to try any keyboards that use brown MX switches sadly. This keyboard uses MX red silent switches. Very responsive keys and overall they are very consistent in terms of noise and LED brightness. Love the LED lighting and Corsair's software that controls it. You can download custom profiles that others have created if that's your thing.
The only aspect that could be better is the wrist rest. It is not padded and doesn't really provide much support. For the price of the keyboard you'd think they would use a higher quality wrist rest. May look into buying a 3rd party one. Not knocking a star for this. Overall the keyboard is fantastic in every other way.

This is a great keyboard! The silent keys are very effective and very quiet compared to every other mechanical keyboard I have tried but still satisfying to type with. The lights are crisp and the on-board memory allows you to keep a simple lighting profile stored on the keyboard for people like myself that use one keyboard for multiple computers.

This keyboard honestly went way past my expectations. I expected it to be really good keyboard but this keyboard is great. The mechanical keys feel nice and are quiet as advertised. It feels like it is built well. The RGB lighting is amazing. It looks really cool and there is a lot of customization with it as well. Corsair even has a place online to download other profiles as well.

This was my first foray into the mechanical gaming keyboard world, and I've always enjoyed the quality of Corsair products. After lots of reading and research, I settled on this keyboard. The silent keys are pretty silent, but I probably could have settled for the reds as well.
Great Keyboard, would purchase again in a heartbeat.

I caught this keyboard on sale. Was looking a the razer rgb stuff but liked that this the strafe was smaller. It's very sturdy. Very quiet silent switches. The lighting patterns are great and have tons of programing options..
Software is a little buggy sometimes but I haven't had any issues that were major. Don't think I will be looking for new keyboard anytime soon. I dig it.

Great response - however, it takes some time to get used to if you haven’t used a mechanical keyboard before.
RGB light libraries that you can download or design your own are super fun and entertaining as wel...even though I did not buy the keyboard for that reason

I got this to replace my TtEsports Meka Cherry keyboard and the difference is night and day. The keys respond well as you'd expect from a mechanical keyboard, but there is NO annoying clickity clack you get from the typical mechanical set up. Overall pleased with the customizability of the RGB color system. The software is advanced and difficult for just a novice, but the Corsair website hosts some premade color schemes you can download to give your Strafe the right touch.

Wanted a mechanical keyboard but didn't want the loud keys. This keyboard feels wonderful and isn't as loud thanks to the silent cherry mx keys. The lighting is a bonus that I didn't think I'd use but I've found that I like the lights very much.
