THE FIRST MOVIE WAS GREAT! FOR NOSTALGICS OF THE SERIES, ITS A TRIP TO SEE ROCKY & DRAGO HAVE THEIR FACE TO FACE AFTER 33 YEARS. THIS FILM PLAYS WITH A MIX OF PARTS 2/3/4 OF THE SERIES, BUT STILL MANAGES TO SATISFY WITH ITS SOLID CAST AND ACTION. OWN IT OR I WILL BREAK YOU! ;)

Not reference quality detail but definitely and upgrade over the 1080p. Has great highlights and black levels especially in the desert scenes and the fight intro scenes. Soundtrack flexes with Dolby atmos. This is a must have for Rocky fans.

Nostalgia in Rocky Land...I mean Creed

REVIEW OF PRODUCT: This Blu-Ray does not automatically load to the last viewed point and, with no pop-up menu upon loading, forces you to skip through previews before having the option of viewing the movie. Pretty annoying for such a long movie. However, the deleted scenes included in the special features were absolutely heart-wrenching. They included a scene in which Rocky delivers a very moving eulogy to Spider Rico, who Rocky claims was his last living friend from the past, and a post-fight scene in which both Creed and later Rocky interact with the beaten Vicktor Drago and his father, Ivan. It was very touching. I really think these scenes could have been included in the movie at the expense of some of the more overplayed scenes between Creed and Bianca, and are worth the purchase of the movie alone. REVIEW OF MOVIE: This was a tough one, as the nostalgia of seeing Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago together after 30+ years brings was almost too much to handle. As a devout fan of the Rocky series, I am overjoyed to see the beloved character on screen in modern times. However, in both this and in the first Creed, there is something soiled in the character of Adonis Creed. He carries an anger and resentment around with him that makes him very unlikeable. I wouldn't expect somebody like Rocky to want to be around someone like him if it wasn't for his connection to his father. And Rocky's relationship (or lack of) with his own son, Robert, in this movie seems out of character for him, who has otherwise lost every other family and friend from his past. The casting of Florian Munteanu, though, was absolutely brilliant. Besides being an impressive physical specimen, there is something very human and likable in him. Knowing how Ivan Drago's life turned out following his loss to Rocky 30 years ago was really sad. So, overall, which I struggle with the character who will be carrying on the Rocky franchise, this movie was a nostalgic nod to the past.

    Creed II Steelbook Review

I got this along with the first Creed film recently. I was curious as to how the story of Rocky Balboa progressed after "Rocky Balboa". Having seen the hype for this film, I took a chance on it when I bought the first Creed film. This isn't a bad looking steelbook at all. On the front is a shot of Adonis Creed and on the back of the steelbook is a shot of Rocky Balboa. It does have a nice glossy look but it is a fingerprint magnet too. If you've seen the advertising for this movie then you know Rocky IV's "villain" Ivan Drago is back, this time around with his son Viktor who wants to beat Adonis Creed for the heavyweight boxing championship. To me, this movie just seemed to be a bit too predictable. This felt like another Rocky remake to me but this time around seemed to have a lot of elements of Rocky III but with some minor tweaks to the plot. Overall, I will recommend this film for Rocky/Creed fans but only marginally so. I really don't see what else can be done with the Balboa saga at this point but who knows, anything is possible.

    A Worthy Follow-Up, A Worthy Addition

The "sins of the father" idea has been played out time and time again since first making its appearance in the books of Exodus and Deuteronomy, but never has it been so deliciously executed as it is in Creed II given the poetry or, as one commentator within the film calls it, "Shakespearean" nature of one Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), the son of former heavyweight world champion Apollo Creed, coming face to face with the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) some thirty-three years after he killed his father in what was supposed to be an exhibition match. The weight of these circumstances would certainly be hailed as nothing short of mythic to any innocent bystander filled in on the details just prior to the projector heating up and then rolling the whole of Creed II, but for anyone who has seen or been a fan of the Rocky franchise for any amount of time and has specifically basked in the glory of all that is simultaneously great and terrible about Rocky IV then it's not as difficult to see how easily Creed II could have turned into an unmitigated dumpster fire that was unable to capitalize on the great mythology of these events because it couldn't re-configure the tone. The tone of Rocky IV, while featuring Rocky's most formidable opponent and the death of his former enemy turned best friend, is somehow largely light and alarmingly disengaged from the consequences of any of the actions any of the characters take, but what it has afforded this new generation of Rocky films that take the name Creed is the opportunity to see these events through an era where sequels aren't simply cash grabs, but rather that they are taken seriously and can be exceptionally executed pieces of cinema depending on the creative team and the amount of freedom afforded them. In taking advantage of the studio who wanted to take advantage of credible filmmakers who were interested in continuing the story of Rocky Balboa, the result so far has been two films that not only revel in the training montages set to motivational music or intensely choreographed boxing matches (though they still take full advantage of these staples), but films that are also genuinely interested in chronicling the present generation and how they operate based on the influence (and sins) of those that came before them. Whereas 2015's Creed showed us Jordan's Adonis figuring out who he wanted to be and overcoming the obstacles and shadow of his father to get there, Creed II continues this development by pushing our protagonist past the point in life where his father found himself; forcing the new heavyweight champ to determine how history will define him outside of being the son of Apollo Creed.

By far one of the best films of 2018! Like Rocky IV, where you root for the protagonist, this film will have you rooting for Creed. What is unexpected is your overall feelings for the antagonist. In this film, you also get a glimpse of the other side and feel for Drago and his son. You understand their motivation to win and want to root for them as well, if it weren’t for the fact that they were challenging Creed. This film is about family, and the sacrifices we make as individuals to allow our children to live a better life than us. It is about steering our children away from making some poor decisions we may have made in life and instead making better choices. It is a film that shows the relationship between a father and son, as depicted by Drago and his son as well as Rocky and Creed (who is like a son to him). It is also about reconnecting and the importance of keeping the family unit alive, being aware of who we are, where we come from, and knowing where we are headed. Well acted and brilliantly written, it is a shame this film was overlooked by the Oscars. In regards to the Steelbook 4K case, what you see is what you get. The sound and picture are fantastic. A must own film for anyone who enjoys this medium.

Creed 2 is a great movie that may be even better than the first one. I gave this movie 4 stars for a great story of how Creed wants to avenge his father's death from Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and fight his son, Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu). The one thing that bothered me a little though, was that Rocky is back. I thought they did a great farewell to Rocky in the last one, but than again, they never showed him die and I thought this movie wouldn't of been as good without him in it either. That's the only minor complaint I had. I sure hope they keep making more sequels if they keep making them this good. I like Rocky being the new Mickey and Michael B. Jordan playing Apollo Creed's son. He's really good at it and definitely has the physique of a boxer. I highly recommend this movie if you liked the first one and even if you haven't seen the first one, I would still highly recommend watching this one.

    Creed 2 Earns Decision

Okay, so the first installment in this "Rocky" spin-off, the one directed by Ryan Coogler, would whip this one handily if they met in the ring of mass entertainment; but this is Hollywood we're talking about, and "Creed II" as written by Sylvester Stone and Juel Taylor and directed by Steven Caple, Jr., does a credible job of moving the story of Adonis Creed, the late Apollo Creed's hard-scrabble progeny, forward. This time around, the nemesis staring into Baby Creed's brown eyes is none other than Ivan Drago's son Viktor, a plot twist that brings back all those patriotic vibes from "Rocky IV." Of course, Stallone is back in Creed's corner, and, of course, the bout between Creed and Drago will dredge up all sorts of painful memories (it was Viktor's dad, remember, who killed Adonis' dad in the ring) because Ivan is in Viktor's corner, and he's still smarting from his loss to Rocky 33 years ago. Whew! That's a lot of trauma to unpack, but Caple does a proficient job of not only fleshing out his characters, new and old, but delivering the goods in the ring. The "Creed" franchise is 2 and 0, with one knockout and a unanimous decision, so it's a safe bet that installment III will be along sometime within the next couple years.

I really like this movie and I consider it to be even better than the first movie and I'm glad that they are not just recreating the early Rocky Movies, though I think to keep that kind of tread going by instead of having Creed keep fighting for the same reason they should have him go back to fighting after a fair period of time for some reason with some sort of deeper goal such as keeping his new wife and kid from going completely def, or maybe restoring the honor of say the new heavyweight champion after creed has retired, and if at any point they want to kill of Rocky which I hope they don't do until Stallone is actually gone that they do it in the same way they wrote off say Lenard Nimoy in the last Star Trek movie

A sequel that lives up to the original

It is not often that a sequel lives up to an original. It is even more rare when a sequel to a series of prior films lives up to its predecessor. Creed II equals or exceeds Creed. Creed itself was somewhat of a surprise since it was an excellent revitalization of the Rocky series which has been like a cat with nine lives. And Creed II may be a better story line based on the historic family stories of the earliest of the series. Even if you have not seen the others it holds up on its own. However it is best in the context of the earlier Rocky films. The writing is good and the old and new characters work well together to give it a rich background story. The boxing sequences are excellent as usual.

Fantastic-looking Steelbook for a Fantastic movie

First off, this movie was a great sleeper hit for 2018. I actually enjoy it more than the first Creed and I already love that movie so that’s saying something. This was a much more emotional story with a lot of arcs for many of the characters in this movie. I really felt the legacy of Rocky in this one. Other than the great movie, this Steelbook is slick, glossy black with minimalist artwork taken from the movie posters. It matches great with the Black Steelbook of the first movie if you can find it. The ONLY thing that was irritating about this Steelbook was the non-centered title on the spine. Really, man? Other than that, it’s a great price for the 4K disc, Standard Blu-ray and a digital copy.

A Strong Sequel To Continue The Franchise

Built on the foundation of a very good premise, Creed II is the follow-up to not only Creed but also Rocky IV. Pitting Adonis against the son of the man who killed his father 30 years ago was a very good (some would say obvious) decision. Providing not only great emotional growth for the character of Adonis Creed, but it also gives Rocky the great closure he needed to end his story on the franchise with. This 4K UHD blu ray is very much worth the money if you’re a fan of the franchise. The experience really peaks during the actual boxing matches as the colors really pop and you get the full effect of the improved sound. If I had to throw some negatives at it, I would say that the special features are a bit lacking they don’t really take full advantage of going in-depth into the production. I really would’ve loved to have gotten a commentary track with Sly and Dolph taking about Rocky IV and then reteaming in this movie.

I'm a total junkie when it comes to movies and especially when it comes to collecting them. While I don't think Creed II is as good or powerful as the first Creed, it is still a really great movie that takes its characters and fleshes them out in a natural way that is entertaining for the audience. I also really liked the Dragos in this movie as well. As for the Steelbook itself, it is fantastic and is among my favorite in my collection. I love the design on the front and back (spoilers for the back: it's Rocky with the II behind him also) and I think it's more than worth the buy if it's available!

Ever since the first Creed came out, everyone wanted a Creed vs Drago fight between sons. 33 years after Rocky IV, we finally see it. I loved every moment in this movie. Michael B. Jordan still shines has Adonis Creed, making a legacy for himself and his family. Florian Munteanu plays Ivan Drago's son, Viktor, whose size alone makes him intimidating. Returning are Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren. Honestly, I got the steelbook because it looks better than the standard blu-ray case. But if you're a fan of the Rocky series, or just enjoyed the first Creed, give this movie a go as well.
