1 TB for my PS5 for this price was too good not to pass up. So far the drive has met expectations. Have purchased other Crucial products in the past and have always been happy with their quality and pricing.

Got this for my PS5 as I desperately needed some added storage space and seeing this for sale made it a no brainer. At first like with some others was a little dubious about this product but after installing it has worked fine with no issues at all. I do wish I got the 2TB one as today's games take up a ton of more space then the previous gen games did but still nice to know I have the space needed to put my games on.

The Crucial P5 plus with heatsink is a great M.2 SSD for adding additional storage. The drive comes pre- installed with a low-profile thermal heatsink on the top of the M.2. There are no instructions, only a warranty booklet telling you to go to the website and download their software. Installing the drive isn’t very difficult, though you will need a mounting screw as there isn’t one included in the box. Once the drive is installed, you can download the software, or let windows initialize and format the drive (I just used Windows). Once completed, I now have approximately 931GB of free storage that I am using to store my games. As far as the performance of the P5 Plus, everything is working great. With the promise of 2 times faster speeds that Gen 3 drives, I was anxious to test this out… I installed a few games from my steam library on the new M.2, and needless to say the drive didn’t disappoint. My games loaded super fast and played flawlessly. I am very impressed with the crucial P5 plus. Overall, the P5 Plus with heatsink is a great choice for a new M.2 SSD. The installation is extremely easy and the included heatsink shield offers protection from overheating. The 1tb of storage offers a decent amount of storage for games and the with the fast read/write speeds – this ssd is a beast. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new M.2 ssd for either their PS5 or PC.

Not quite top-tier, but outstanding performance from a super reliable brand at a great price. I have one in a PS5 and another in my PC.

For a budget nvme it's not bad it's a little slower but the PS5 or PC will usually register the speed a little lower than advertised. My PS5 gave it around 5.5GB/sec. Read and write but it works just fine.

The Crucial P5 Plus is a great entry level NVMe drive that utilizes the newer PCIe Gen4 standard. After getting my hands on these I used it in a variety of circumstances from using it as an external drive to copy data from my laptop to my desktop PC, using it as a bootable drive, and finally using it in my PS5 to upgrade my storage. Here’s some key points that I saw during my usage: Pros: - PCIe Gen 4 compatibility - Great value (compared to similar storage capacity supporting Gen 4) - Available up to 2TB (even though I got the 1 TB version) - Perfect for regular non-critical duty usage, and very good option as secondary storage - Included heatsink make it so much easier to upgrade PS5 storage - 5 years warranty (limited by TBW) - 600 TB SSD endurance rating - Backward compatible with Gen. 3 systems - Standard installation procedure - Heatsink is low profile, making installation in desktop and PS5 hassle-free - Acronis Cloning Software can be used for free to format/clone/setup - Uses Micron TLC NAND chips - Uses Micron’s in-house -channel DRAM controller, with 1GB of LPDDR4 memory (for 1 TB capacity model) - Support hardware-based encryption - No issues when installed in my PS5 - got detected easily. However, opening up the PS5 was not the most easiest thing to do for everyone Cons: - Not the fastest PCIe Gen 4 drive out there. Sequential Read and Write in the lower 5000s MBps. However, write speed degraded a bit to around ~2000 MBps when I used a very large file - No screw etc. in the package, but that’s kind of nitpicking - I couldn’t find a heatsink disassembly guide, and without taking that out I was not able to use it in my laptop Overall, even though the performance is not the best out there, for regular purpose computing and secondary data storage activities, as well as upgrading PS5 storage, the P5 Plus with its pre-installed heatsink presents a great value. Definitely worth considering.
