Customers are saying

Customers highly value Crystal Crisis' core gameplay, frequently comparing it favorably to Super Puzzle Fighter and praising its fun factor. The charming characters, many of whom are homages to other games, and their unique abilities also receive positive feedback. While some players noted longer than ideal load times, the game's positive aspects, including its sound and graphics, outweigh this concern for many. The overall experience is described as enjoyable and addictive.

It looks, sounds, and plays nearly identically to Capcom's masterclass puzzler Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo. But since this isn't Capcom, it has none of the Capcom characters charm or presentation. Some of the matches feel over difficult. But the fact that we can have something like on the Switch is a major cause for celebration. As with Puzzle Fighter, multiplayer is where the game shines the most.

I was so excited to hear the announcement for this game because it reminds me of the classic puzzle fighter for PlayStation. It’s very similar but way more modern. What I didn’t like was the loading times, it’s not too bad but I wish it was a little faster. For the price it’s selling right now I say it’s 100% worth buying!

A Unique Puzzle Game With a Few Twists

If you are fan of, or enjoy puzzle games that are similar to Tetris, then, Crystal Crisis is one you may want to consider. Crystal Crisis offers intricacies and challenges that can be frustrating, yet, satisfying to forge through. For example, if your opponent manages to secure a combo, then, you'll end up with timed blocks. Timed, meaning, these blocks fall on your side of the screen and cannot be used until the number inside of them dissipates. So, a block with 5 in it, has 5 turns to go before it is rendered usable. That aside, a lot of detail and thought went into this game. Many of the characters available pay homage to a specific game. E.g. Isaac from the Binding of Isaac game is available to play. It's kinda cool to use a character you played in another game. Each character also has a unique set of moves and combos to offer too. Which means, if you want to master Crystal Crisis, you'll need to explore the various characters and moves. Overall, this is a good puzzle game. Be forewarned though, it can go from a casual "fun" game to "stressed out and frantic" game in the blink of an eye.

This is a very fun puzzle fighting game, similar to the old Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo games. Better graphics and sound but similar gameplay. A nice change from my usual game genre choices.

This is another superb release from Nicalis. The core gameplay is strong (mirroring Capcom Puzzle Fighter series) but like all puzzle games, demands a lot of dedication to master. The mixture of new, old and familiar characters to unlock adds a nice incentive to keep playing and the launch edition physical goodies are top notch. Overall a game for series puzzle game players or collectors

Seeing a great game with an average score of one-star is a shame. This is a fantastic puzzle game, and you should not allow one-star reviews from people with personal issues discourage you from buying it. Closest thing to playing classic Puzzle Fighter on the Switch. Easily a 7/10 or 8/10 puzzle game. Even has a decent story, and is narrated by the legendary Peter Cullen (voice of Optimus Prime).

The game has Puzzle Fighter vibes. I loved that game and this one does not disappoint. The game has various characters from other Nicalis published games. I love how the actor who plays Optimus Prime narrates the game. If you liked puzzle fighter you will love this. The only con is the load times are a little excessive otherwise the game is great and I love the extras that come with the game including an instruction manual.

If you are unfamiliar with Nicalis, please do yourself the wonderful favor of getting to know who they are. Nobody in the business puts as much love and care into their games are Nicalis, and it truly shows. Crystal Crisis is a fantastic puzzle game that has sucked up all my time since it's release. It's incredible fun.

Crystal Crisis takes the same formula that made Puzzle Fighter great 20 years ago, but expands upon it in a great and natural way. With the unique roster of characters, many of which must be unlocked, and varying game play modes, this is a must for any Switch collection.

I really enjoy Tetris, Puyo-Puyo, and even Soldom Drop, Connect, Erase but I had a hard time really getting the gameplay in this one. The puzzle fighter aspect is well done and I like that you get to choose a side for each fight but I am not a fan of the actual puzzle mechanics. I probably just need to learn a little more about the different fighters and their abilities but Im just not that invested in the game. If you're someone who is used to learning about characters and their special abilities then this may be a good game for you. I think the game could really benefit from some sort of interactive manual/tutorial to really teach you how to maximize each characters ability.

I'm a fan of Tetris/PuyoPuyo games and Nicalis' stuff so I'm pretty happy with this game. Plays well, fairly addicting, about $10 too expensive to be honest, but definitely one of the better games of its type on the Switch. Recommended.

This is a competitive puzzle game in the same vein as Super Puzzle Fighter. It's easy to pick up, but gets really hectic as the match drags on. It also has a pretty fun cast of characters, to boot!

This game is surprisingly fun. Disclaimer: This is a PUZZLE game. A puzzle battler to be specific. It's fun like most puzzle battling games, but it has the Nicalis coat of paint and flair to it.

Nicals puts out such a great variety of titles in their releases and this is the culmination of them all together in a puzzle battle game. Check this out if you like puzzle fighters.
