Darned good cup of coffee... very impressed!

OK, so I purchased a do-it-all machine from Williams-Sonoma last year for about $350 - and discovered that all I really needed, at least 350 days of the year, was two perfect mugs of coffee per day. So I did my research and this little guy had pretty good ratings so I came to the Best Buy website and ordered it. I've been using it four mornings in a row now and have to say that I am very impressed - the coffee is as good as that coming from my $350 machine and although I had become accustomed to the burr grinder built into the large machine, I still have three (two new in the box when there was a half-price sale on eBay) Cuisinart burr grinders, so it's as simple as grinding the beans, pouring in the water, putting a filter in and adding the ground beans and – poof! – great coffee in a few minutes. I put my big old clunker in a bottom shelf now. I'm sure that I will drag it out a few times a year but for now, and for most of the year, this little beauty works beautifully. The only caveat that I will make: while the gold "permanent filter" are certainly a bargain, they simply do not produce the best tasting coffee, particularly, it seems, with Cuisinart machines. Do yourself a favor and purchase the #2 Melitta cone filters – brown or bleached, it makes no difference. But they sure make a difference in taste!

    Great small coffee maker

I got this as a gift about 5 years ago and it is still going strong. Although this unit has performed very well, it is showing some wear and is harder to keep clean...so I'm in the market for a new one. I bought a larger Cuisinart but not sure I can get used to the size and since I'm the only coffee drinker in the house, I'm probably taking it back and going to buy this unit again. The warming plate has peeled and looks rusted and the reservoir and carafe are also stained. But full disclosure: I've never spent a lot of time scrubbing them perfectly clean. The carafe does spill while pouring coffee if you go too fast. But this is operator error, not necessarily a design fault. But again, this unit has always made very good coffee, takes up very little space, and is very easy to use.

    Compact & Attractive Design

The automatic shut off is a great feature. Nice coffee maker for the price. One little flaw is the black paint where the carafe sits, is already wearing off after approximate 2 months of use. It shouldn't make any difference in the longevity of usage, and doesn't show until you remove the carafe. That is why it is rated 4 instead of 5. The coffee tastes great and the attractive and compact design looks great on the counter.

This coffeemaker is perfect for my tiny NYC-size kitchen. With limited counter space, this coffeemaker is perfect. I've had it about a month and it works perfectly.

I'm a college student that need to maximize as much space in his dorm as possible. This coffeemaker allows me to make coffee in my room without taking up a significant amount of space, which makes it perfect.

Makes more like 1-1/2 cups instead of 4.

Using a normal coffee cup only makes about 1.5 cups. Top of carafe is hard to get off. When pouring water into coffee maker, unless you hold the top down when pouring water leaks down the side of the carafe all over counter. Very disappointed. I got it as a gift so I didn't dish out any money for it which was good.

    Worst design possible!

This is the worst design I could imagine. It's like the manufacturer must not have even tried it out before selling it!!! The carafe design is horrible. It is impossible to pour water or coffee without spilling it everywhere! The water seems to spill out between the rim of the carafe and the carafe. There's a mess to clean up after filling the resavoir and after pouring coffee. It is also hard to fill the resavoir because the lid doesn't open wide enough. I would have returned this after the first use if I hadn't have thrown the box away without trying it. Big mistake!

I never bought a coffee maker with a stainless steel carafe. If has a nice look in the kitchen and the size was perfect for my needs.

I use this coffeemaker at work. I work with about 65 to 68 students. The students learn living skills and social skills. I was concerned about using a coffeemake with a glass crafe with all the activity and horseplay. The Cuisinart coffeemaker has a stainless steel crafe and turns off at 30 minutes. Now I have one less thing to worry about. The coffee brews perfect.

    Great coffee maker at office

I am so glad that my husband loves it. He had been looking for a coffee maker for his office. I got it for his as his Christmas present and he took it and used it on the next day at his office. He found nothing wrong with it, he said that it worked very well. And he still uses it until now. So glad that he can enjoy his favorite coffee at the office again.

It took my wife and I about 10 trying to figure out how to open up the maker. Then we made our first cup and it was quick. But after about 20 min's the coffee started to lose it's temp. I'm looking at buying a cheaper coffee maker and send this one back.
