I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 10 year old daughter. She loves it!
It comes ready to race, provided you have charged the batteries.
It has one speed...fast. It is so fast that she has a little trouble controlling it, but practice will fix that. She did break the bumper off the first day by slamming it into everything and eventually a curb, but the rest of the car is just fine. It is a really heavy and durable car. A great thing about it is that it’s a hobby grade car and all the parts are replaceable on the Redcat website. The manual has a great diagram with all the part numbers listed.
It comes with 2 batteries that charge in about 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, each battery only lasts about 15 minutes. This was expected so it doesn’t affect my review. You can change out the batteries to longer lasting ones if you choose to buy them. However, they cost more than I paid for the whole car at the local hobby shop.
I do wish 2 things were different. It would be nice if there was some speed control. Either a button to flip to have the car run at half speed or for a pressure sensitive trigger. I also wish it were easier to take the battery out. You have to remove several clips and bend and twist the whole body shell to remove it and then remove more clips and a plate to take the battery out. This seems like a lot of stress on the shell, so I expect to need to replace it at some point. It is nice to have the clips though and not need a screw driver and at least the battery is secure and won’t go flying during a crash.
Overall, this was a great purchase. In fact, before the first battery ran out, my dad decided he wanted one. I ended up buying a second car the day after Christmas. They work very well together with no interference with each other.

The Redcat Racing - Cyclone XB10 is an entry level hobby style R/C car. The parts list breaks down to the finest of screws. The body parts have pins like the higher grade hobby cars and the suspension is oil filled and tuneable. There is also an included sticker sheet to give it some of your own flair.
This thing is zippy and capable off road, so long as the terrain is not too rough, as tall grass stopped it in its tracks due to the fairly low clearance underneath. I had a blast running it through puddles without being worried it was going to short out on me. The controller is basic, but includes trim controls and a reverse switch for the steering, in case you want to inverse the right/left of the wheel. It comes with two 2000mAh batteries, which it needs if you want to play for more than 10 minutes. At full charge, full throttle on an oval track, I would begin to notice power loss at about 6 minutes, at 8 minutes it is pretty much dead. There are larger batteries for separate purchase, however, the biggest issue I have with the Cylclone XB10 is the process to exchange the battery. Removal of four body pins to remove the main body and one more pin to remove the bracket that holds the battery in place. Each time I felt like I was going to damage the body cover and the fun diminished as I fumbled with all these little pins. However, the included charger would give a full charge in about an hour.
I have a gas powered Red Cat RC car and this is a good electrical comparison to that. Unlike the gas powered version, I’m not worried about blowing out the motor, again, or having the right fuel mixture. This thing is plug and go with a professional feel. It has taken some full speed hits to a curb with minimal damage, which I feared the worse as I saw a part dangling, but it snapped back in and we were back in business. Worst case, we could get the part number from the manual and order it from the redcatracing website.

Just got the Redcat Racing Cyclone XB10 today. Setup was easy, its basically ready to go out of the box but first I made sure the battery in the packaging was fully charged. The directions were not clear on how to install the battery in the vehicle, you have to remove the body skin first, and after I did I found that there were actually two batteries included, one of which was already installed in the vehicle. So I waited a bit longer and charged the pre-installed battery and took it outside for a spin.
Holy cow, this car is fast!! If you are looking for an RC car for your kids to play around with inside your house, this is NOT the car for you. This vehicle wants to GO. It doesn't really have a "slow" speed, once you hit the throttle it takes off.
The XB10 is a blast to drive. The controls are very responsive and the suspension on the vehicle is great for keeping it grounded on bumps and jumps. I crashed it quite a few times when getting used to driving it. More times than not after it cartwheeled or flipped over it would land upright on its wheels and was ready to keep going. Some crashes I wasn't so lucky, but it seemed to absorb the shock well and other than a few scratches it never missed a beat. I am not sure how far it would go until it would lose radio contact with the controller, but we have a long block in front of our home and I drove it as far as I could up our street until I could barely see it and it still maintained contact with the controller. I would guess we got about 30 minutes of driving on a single battery charge which is great in my opinion.
Overall, this is a super fun RC car, super fast, and very durable. Definitely recommended!

Im a 41 year old father of three and i love love love this!
This is such a massive step up from your regular RC cars. I've not had fun like this in years.
So this is what they call a hobbiest version and by that every p[iece of teh vehicle can be replaced. Its comes with a plastic fram and bodt, the shell can be removed with 4 pins, this is how you would replace the battery. It comes with two batteries and they are simple to charge. It also comes with a battery charger that plugs in to the wall with a start/stop button. Be sure to press start when you want to charge up or nothing will happen. The remote for the car is very light and kinda cheap feeling but it gets the job done. It has a control to trim the steering to ensure everything is aligned. It also has the option to reverse the steering controls which is nice as i felt more comfortable with reverse controls.
This thing is fast and you can do donuts like nobodies business. I was taken back just how fast it actually is. It had no problem going from asphalt to grass, up grass hills and powering through leaf piles.
Its awesome, i loved it and so did my son. And look out for this on Black Friday, you wont be disappointed.

Bought this for my son (4) thinking it would be ok for him. However, when I got it I took it out to test it before giving it to him and boy this thing is fast. Way faster than I thought. Obviously way too much for my 4yo. However, I loved it so much that I will keep it for myself. He wil enjoy watching me play with it and I may have him participate and control it in an open field. Batteries charge fast and it comes with two so your down time is minimal. Battery life seems to last quite a bit too. Will try it out some more and put it through its paces to see how well it does on dirt. For the price it is phenomenal. I got it on Black Friday. Way more than what I expected and it's a decent size car. Looking forward to enjoying this a lot more. The one thing I will have to say is that reverse lags a bit as you can't go from drive to reverse. Maybe to not damage the unit. It takes a second or so to do so. I have to release and press the trigger again to make it go in reverse. Not sure if that's a defect or on purpose for safety of the engine. Either way I love it. Lots of fun.

The Redcat comes complete with everything you need for RC fun (including batteries). The XB10 is made to be sturdy for all the off road fun you can handle, the rubber tires have actually been bolted into the rim so they won’t come off!!
The lightweight outer shell/car frame is pretty cheap but I wouldn’t want anything expensive since this car will see heavy duty off-roading. The shell is easily removed via quick connect pins. They also include an extra sheet of stickers to further customize it.
The RC base control unit is spot on with little delay to the car, and MAN is this car fast!!! I was doing 360s on my turns and spinning out clouds of dust at every turn, the balance of the car was nice too so it didn’t try to flip over after every small jump. The landings and control of this car are very good, this is due to the gas shocks and tunable suspension. The booklet that comes with it offers and exploded view for those who want to repair or upgrade parts, including the battery (The unit comes with an extra battery too.) Both batteries tested have about 20 plus minutes of power (depending on how rough you use it) and take about 1 hour to fully charge, the charger has indicator lights on it to let you know when done charging.
Over all this is a very nice starter RC or occasional RC enthusiast who doesn’t want to spend a ton on one. This is a great start to get to know what they can do and play with before you move on to professional models.
The age requirements state 14 on up, but with adult supervision My 8 year old loves to play with it. She chases the dog, who intern chases the Car.
I would recommend this to friends and family, no matter the age. As stated above this is a fairly good quality car for the price point.

I haven't played with a decent RC car since I was a kid.
This car is a lot of fun! A lot of fun.
Quick upsides, fast, easy controls, low base so no roll-over, easy setup out of box, 2 batteries included
Quick negatives, car body removal difficult (to change battery), battery life short, charge a little long
Out of the box it was pretty much set to go, you had to take the top body off to connect the battery already in the car. The top body is a flexible plastic cover held w/ cotter pins (I am afraid removing this over time may damage it and need replaced). The battery connection is simple. The remote sync is simple - turn on the remote, wait 3 seconds, turn on the car, done.
The car goes pretty fast ( I did not clock it but would guess 10-15 mph). The steering controls are very responsive and it comes with a trim to adjust steering if it's a little off center. The remote is a trigger/wheel style, not the 2-joystick style. I like the wheel style better. The range is pretty good. I tested it on a parking lot and it ran 100+ feet with no signal loss. The forward was easy to control and steer, the reverse took some getting used to and steering in reverse is tricky when going fast.
I ran both batteries out of the box and didn't know what type of charge they would already have. They both ran around 10 minutes or so. When the battery starts to go the steering pulls to the left and the power starts to drop. It it's 100+ feet away when this happens, turn it back around or start walking to pick it up. The 10 minutes is a little on the low side for what I would like but not unusual compared to cars I had in the past (I just hoped the batteries would have improved). I was running it back and forth mid-full speed most of the time though. They also offer replacement batteries that last longer.
After my 1st test run I took them home to charge. Both batteries took around 90 minutes to charge full again. I took the car out for a fresh battery run and it went around 14 minutes - same running pretty full throttle most of the time. It was fun running over speed humps and getting some air and zig-zaging around the islands. It also seems pretty sturdy - as it ran into a couple curbs and survived fine (also the only time it flipped over). I did not run it in the grass or dirt. I would expect it to work fine just less traction and more cleanup after.
Great car, a lot of fun, I think anyone age 8+ would enjoy it.

This is an ideal entry level RC car for a teen or older who is interested in getting into real RC car racing! This is definitely much better quality and MUCH faster than your big box store RC toys. Most parts are replaceable and customizable. I highly recommend this product!

Good starter car for kids. Very durable and the two included batteries give decent run time. Once your kids learns how to drive and maintain this car, then you can move up to a more expensive unit with an aluminum chassis; not a plastic one like this. Overall worth the money - good value.

I bought this on sale on Black Friday on a whim. I used to race 1/24 scale slot cars when I was a kid back in the day, but stopped doing that when I became an adult and the local slot car track closed down. This brings back memories of the fun I used to have back then. It is very well built and a quality car. And did I say FAST! The first time I took it outside for a spin I was blown away! I just barely pulled the trigger on the remote control and it took off like a scared rabbit! Luckily I have a large back yard so I have plenty of room for it to open up. It steers very well and goes straight as an arrow right out of the box. Comes with everything you need to get started, including an extra battery for the car. Now I just need to talk my friend into buying one for himself so we can race them!

This is an amazing RC car. The speed, the power, the control are all out of this world. The car is very well built and seems sturdy. It is a lot of fun, and needs to be used outdoors to get the best experience. It is extremely easy to setup and I love that the manufacturer includes two lithium batteries as standard. The reason I deducted one star is that in order to get to the battery on the car, you have take off the trim, remove a few clips and then disconnect the battery before replacing and re-connecting all the bits you just took off to get to the battery. This becomes a pain, as the battery lasts around 15 minutes, so you constantly have to replace the battery. Other than this design flaw, this is the best and most fun RC car I have ever owned.

Has a pretty good, solid feel too it. It is definitely fast. It handles jumping the curb in the street and a couple of flips with out breaking. Remote is unresponsive at times. seems to just not work sometimes. Not a distance issue, and more so a lack of response to reverse. I exchanged it thinking I got a faulty one, but the new one was exactly the same. Worth the price if you get it on sale.
