This is a great game, my wife and I love it! If you're a God of War fan, this is right up your alley. In fact, the gameplay and controls are practically identical to God of War. But, it does have the one negative that God of War has, no camera! I don't like not being able to look around with the right joystick like you can in 95% of games, but this is a minor complaint. Also, I'm a fan of longer games. To me, 20-25 hours and up is good and makes me feel like I got my moneys worth. Don't get me wrong, I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth on this game, but it was pretty short. My wife and I aren't hardcore gamers, we play casually after work and on weekends. My wife starts a game on easy, me normal, then work up to harder levels. That said, I finished the game on Zealot (or normal) in about 14 hours, then again on Infernal (or very hard) in about 10 hours. To me, that's way too short, (much like Uncharted 2). However, this game has great replay value! Therefore, I highly recommend this to those casual gamers that want a fun game that everyone can beat and enjoy. For those hardcore gamers that beat every game they play in one sitting on rediculously hard level, I'm sure you'll find this game too easy. But, it's still a cool and unique game with a great storyline that should be in everyones collection. I definitely recommend it!

I study games I am interested in months before they are released. I read all of the negative reviews of this game, and ignored them. It had piqued my interest enough to still warrant a purchase. Now that I have played it, I undestand the negative reviews. The action sequences are fun to play the first time through, and the story is enough of a reason to finish it. The difficulty however is crummy. This is not due to me being a bad player. When enemies can break up your combos, even when it is an air combo, and they are grounded you pretty much do not have a chance to have fun. That is on the normal difficulty. The counter mechanic also does not work well. It works about 40% of the time in my estimation. The platforming is inticrately designed, but some of the puzzles are plain dumb. The average gamer will have trouble with them. I think there is also a glitch in The Greed level as the last review stated. There is no clear way to solve the puzzle there. Get this game only if you hae the patience for it, and want the headache. I am not going to defer anyone from getting it, but I thought that I would warn you of what to expect.

Everyone needs to relax with the God Of War similarities. Not every hack and slash adventure is God of War. I am the biggest fan of GOW and I bought Dantes based on the demo. The ONLY thing that is similar is the button config. Other than that it has a great story and outstanding combat. Not to mention some truly and I mean truly twisted level designs. The story telling is gripping and even though its based on a popular classic poem it still feels fresh. I have been playing this like crazy and cant stop. The only reason this game is getting panned is due to its bandwagonesque critic bash form the similar button config to GOW. Funny how one person can lead the destruction of a perfectly good game. All I can tell you is if you like violence, gore, aggressive storytelling, non stop action and the occasional bare breasted woman then this game is for you. Another funny thing is when people compare the game to GOW as if its a bad thing. I could only pray that if I developed a game it would be mentioned in the same breath of GOW. Anyway, buy the game. PS3 owners get more than a mouthful of special exclusive features as well. I highly reccomend you make your own decision on this work of art.

I bought this yesterday and I have to say WOW!!! This game is fun and very God of War like and that's just fine by me. The controls are easy to learn and responsive, combat is repetitive but not to overwhelming, the graphics are great and the sounds are eerie and adds to the atmosphere. The Divine Edition has a few extras like a full game soundtrack, a digital reprint of A Divine Comedy and more. If you love God of War and Darksiders then this game is for you.

NOTE: This is purely based on the demo. The game plays fairly well. Combo transitions seem pretty easy to pull off. The graphics are amazing. The game is very dark, intense, and adult. NO KIDS should play this game. I'm a grown ars man and I was a bit creeped out playing this. One criticism I have of the game is that it seems to be a copycatted mix of Castlevania and God of War. The chaotic feel of a Simon Belmont adventure mixed with the gameplay and stylizing of the Kratos engine. Game feels kind of easy too. Could have been the level I had it on, but its just a button smasher. The combos used seem to have the same effect no matter the enemy. I'll def. give this game a shot when it doesn't cost $60.

The game is very GOD of War III type. You have live action hack and slash and then sequences to follow to proceed through cut scenes. There is a dynamic aspect of the game that I really enjoyed when you go through Dante's memories and recollections. It moves to a comic book-esque style animation that I thought was very clever. The storyline will keep you interested and then concept of making the game based on the poem is great. Sensitivity has to be checked at the door... there is no room for feeling bad for slaying unbatized children. But, it's a game and unless you are one of those who thinks gaming promotes violence it shouldn't bother you. The only gripe I have with the game is that it took me too long to understand how best to use the souls I gathered and some of the other attributes you acquire. I'm sure some will say that's my fault, but IMHO I didn't think there was enough in-game tutorial to best use that stuff. Perhaps that is where replay would be beneficial, but it's just my opinion.

I don't know why this was getting dogged by the media. I found it to be highly entertaining. So the hack and splash got old but hey, that's the style of game. I really enjoyed how the gamers visualized & interpreted the novel. I also liked how you had the power to punish or absolve the souls and the different powers it could give you. For the trophy hunters, this game is medium platinum. It takes a couple of play throughs & a help from a guide to locate the artifacts and you should be good to go. On the online store DO NOT BUY THE EXTRA SOULS, you'll be wasting your money since with two play throughs you'll get more than enough souls. I highly recommend this game!!

I have enjoyed the graphic and trials. It was to short and I played a limited amount of skill to beat the game. I'm about to play the Inferno level and sofar it's easy to kill the souls and demons. I can't wait to play the online version, Trails of St. Lucia.

Hey there!!! I found that the game is great, im having a good time playing it, i love the poem and i like the game (even if it's not exactly based on the poem) , Dante's Inferno is for sure one of my favorites, ... hey, I found an error in the game, just when you arrive to the Greed circle, you pass like a cauldron whit molten gold and then you find a save statue, the next room you enter have some demons and a mechanism to activate some platforms and a door, if you defeat the demons you can now pull the lever and activate the mechanism, if you die you get restarted to the same room, you dont need to defeat the demons again, but if you leave the room and return, you wont be able to pull the lever and activate the mechanism, and the demons dont appear anymore, the game is stuck at this point, unfortunaly i saved at that point and now that gameplay was stuck forever, i had to reset my game and start again, is no big deal, but as an advise, be carefull to not return so often, this may happen in otherparts, didnt found out yet.... Besisdes this error, everything seem to be fine, great game !!!!!!

EA's masterpiece of ancient evil has finally arrived! This game by far is the best game I have ever played on any platform. The graphics are superb, the game play is excellent, and the music and voice acting is simply stunning. And all the goodies thrown in on the PS3 Divine Edition is just icing on the cake. Some have been critical saying it's a rip-off on God of War. So what! How may Call of Duty type games are there? What about Madden football, or other sport/racing/fighting games? And first person shooters? There is plenty of room for a God of War clone (if that's what this is), and it's great to see developers once again pushing the envelope. Yes, it has very dark themes, blood, gore, and nudity which is why it carries an "M" rating. The only small issue I have with the game is that you cannot control the camera, which at times means you can't look around to see where to step. But if Dante dies, he will be revived at the same spot. So, if you like God of War (which I do!) you'll love Dantes Inferno. Buy it!

This game is like God of War goes to hell. The game plays similar to God of War; the fighting style, power ups, and game screen. Dante's has a pretty cool feature, when you're fighting you have the option of judging the souls of the damned. The more souls you save the more 'holy' power ups you get. The more souls you condemn the more unholy power ups you get. It definitely changes the game play depending on how you want to play. The game has great graphics but I wouldn't let children watch this! It is pretty gruesome at times. Overall, I really thought the game was well done!

Dante's Inferno has kept me entertained from the very beginning. You are thrust into combat and it never ends from there on. A lot of people seem to be knocking it because it has a lot of G.O.W. similarities. I do not agree with the negativity around this issue. I love G.O,W. and although this game plays a lot like it, it is not a copy. I think it's a sign of respect that it plays like G.O.W. I love the adult themes to it, after all I am an adult and the rating is M, so kids shouldnt be playing anyway. My only complaint is the camera angle. You have no ability to control it, and I like to have the ability to explore rooms without limitations. All in all this is a great title to add to your gaming library.

This game is great! It's definitely not for children; it combines great graphics with a seamless interface. I don’t buy games very often simply because I am usually disappointed with them, but this game is a definite must have. It doesn't follow the story line of the book to a T but it is still a good story line, and yes the controls are like God of War but honestly there are many games out there with similar controls, but no one comments on them. In my opinion this is a great game and definitely worth the money, especially the divine edition.

When I saw the preview for this game, I was immediately excited for the release. This game is a fantastic addition for any PS3 owner. The game play is very similar to God of War, so if you love that series, pick this one up. The Divine Edition comes with a download code for a few free items, available through the Playstation Network store. The best part is the code will allow you to download an additional story which comes out in April.

This game started ouy Great. I was suprised on how real it looked. It starts off right with action (this is only from demo), and I'm sure it will continue through out the whole game Even though the game has a lot of good things about it, it has some bad things too. there are some scenes that are very graphic and adult. and the combos are nice and fluent but it kind of gets repeatative. Over all looks like a great game and I would tottally get it.

This game is ALOT of FUN!!!! Unfortunately it is short and not especially difficult. I did start a new game on a higher difficulty level and it was definately harder. Overall, great game with great PS Store add-ons!

the excitement begins immediately...and with incredible graphics...the plot is pretty good...it is a very dark game and provides a disturbing look at what it would be like to travel through hell...i wish that you could control the camera, but i don't mind the simplicity involved in the controls as a result...being a father, i would advise parents to avoid playing this game around children (language, nudity, and scary concept) and not purchase it for them either...but overall, this is a great game that is difficult to stop playing and even though it provides a few challenging moments of strategic gameplay, none of the obstacles have kept me scratching my head for too long...

Played the demo. I was really and truly impressed! The graphics, the voice acting, the cut scenes, the sound! God of War has some serious competition! Can't wait to play the whole thing!

Well i liked the graphics and the history, but i think it need be longer cause i finished in almost 5 hours, i hope the second game will be longer...

I wasn't planning on buying the game after watching the review by Gametrailers, but then I tried the demo for myself and was blown away. I literally went out and bought the game 5 minutes after playing through it. The controls are identical to God of War III controls (if you play the E3 demo for GOW3 you will know what I mean), but I don't know why that would be a bad thing when GOW's controls are great. Dante's Inferno is a nice refresher to other games out there because of it's originality and how surprisingly creative I found it to be. Buy it!
