From the opening scene in the bathroom, you know you're in for quite the experience. Immediately you can tell the blu ray transfer of the film is far superior than the DVD version. The colors pop and the video quality in general is amazing! Those who own this film on DVD already will still benefit from purchasing the blu ray. Not only for the bu ray transfer, but the directors cut of the film as well. Dark City is truly an originally and great film. As far as Sci-Fi films go, this has to be one of my all time favorites and stands the test of time. I'd even recommend this film to those who aren't into the genre. Everyone can find something in this film to enjoy. A must own!

This is a good movie with good acting and a well thought out story line. It has you wondering sometimes just what is going on. This movie doesn’t disappoint and have you asking for more. Makes one wonder if something like this could happen without a person really knowing what’s going on. This movie is well worth looking at and making it a part of one’s movie collection. Truly worth the purchase price.

Tired of films that dazzle you with visual effects but are utterly forgettable the moment you stop watching? Dark City came out before similarly themed The Matrix and yet still exists as a compelling movie on its own terms. The less you know about the film going into it, the better.
The special features offer great behind the scenes information. I hope that one day the director, Alex Proyas, fulfills the potential he shows in this and his previous film the Crow.

A Sci-fi Great From the 90's

I was working on with a group to make a list of the best films of the 90's. This film showed up on a couple of lists and I'd never even seen it. It's a stunner with a great concept and impeccable production. Director, Alex Proyas (The Crow, I, Robot), creates an atmosphere that you can feel on your skin. Rufus Sewell doesn't get many opportunities to take the lead so he makes everything count. After viewing, I also added it to my list must see films of the 90"s.

I hadn't seen this movie in at least 10 or 12 years, but I vaguely remembered liking it. I assumed it wouldn't have aged well, but it was on sale, so I figured "why not?" Surprisingly, it holds up quite well. The blu ray includes both the theatrical version and the directors cut. and there's a trivia track bonus feature that will even point out all the differences between the two for you. The special features are generally pretty good too.

Film noir - Neo noir, call it what you want. This dark and atmospheric movie is an excellent representation of the genre, and with a good plot and excellent acting throughout. Too bad there isn't a 4k version with atmos, that would be icing on the cake. Belongs in every sci-fi fans collection!

Great new cut of a cult classic

I loved the original Dark City, with it's sci-fi murder mystery and film noir art style and was thrilled to learn of an extended cut. It adds about 15 minutes to the original. No real new scenes; just longer versions of pre-existing scenes. It also cuts out the ridiculous voice over early in the film that gives way too much away way too soon. Loved it!

I own the original cut of the movie, but I haven't watched it in a long time. I decided to buy the Director's Cut due to the good price. Overall, the movie looks very good in blu-ray. It is a mix of mystery, sci-fi, film noir that was very enjoyable. Jennifer Connelly looks great too, which is another plus.

Love this movie but had forgotten it existed. Found it while rifling through the bargain bin and had to bring it home. Very happy this includes the Directors cut which is mostly unchanged but lacks the narration at the beginning of the film which ruins most of the twists.

I am very sentimental for this movie, I saw it on a double date my freshman year of college. I was the only one of 4 who enjoyed it, and I still like this movie to this day. It is an acquired taste.

All in all, a good movie. There were a couple of twists and it kept me engaged. The ending at first was Oh No!, but then... Left a smile on my face and that's how all movies should end.

This is one of those "never heard of it" movies that is a sleeper surprise.
It's decent and a precursor to a bunch of the "secret world" type movies of the last few years.

Enjoy this movie a lot. The directors cut seems worth it if you're a big fan. Great lighting, aesthetics, and theme. Interesting camera shots. Wonderful sets and costumes. Some great actors
