This truly is one of those games you have to play to understand. I'm someone who enjoys a good challenge and Dark Souls delivers without compromise. The best part is the challenge is legitimate. By that I mean it's not some cheap challenge where the enemy is so overpowered that you have no hope or winning unless you go back to a lower level area and grind for a couple hours. No, Dark Souls is different because despite how difficult it is there is always the ability for you to win. Your success in Dark Souls is dependent on your skill. Your ability to read enemy movements, your timing, and most of all your patience. This game will test your patience again and again but, if you give it a chance, you will have a very rewarding experience. Where Dark Souls falls short is that it has a steep learning curve with little guidance. It becomes less of an issue as you delve into the game, but those first few hours will be stressful. This game is truly a lot of fun to play though and the mystique surrounding this franchise is well earned.

As the title says, this could be one of the hardest games that I have ever played. It is a great game: looks good, game mechanics are easy once you get used to them, in depth good story. However the games save feature respawns all the enemies that you have previously killed causing for either frustration or a farming of XP and the inventory system is a little confusing. Good luck with this title, you are going to need it.

I heard a lot about this game in the past. Best Buy had a great price so I snatched it up. It's a great game that keeps you entertained for hours...and days...and weeks...

This is one of the best games I have ever played! It is consistent in challenging its players allows co-op . The graphics are good and the creatures are cool. The level of difficulty adds a realism to the game most RPGs don't have. And here it is three years old and tons of people still play it. I can't wait for Dark Souls 2 if it's half of what I hear it is it will be amazing.

I bought this game off recommendations from friends, not having any experience with the franchise. Not kidding, it's one of the best games I've ever played. It's not for the faint of heart, though, or people wanting to be spoon-fed plots. You'll die a lot in this game, so if you're easily frustrated, avoid Dark Souls. The great thing, though, is that the game is definitely hard but not cheap. If you die, it's because you screwed up. The feeling of accomplishment when you finally beat that tough boss or area is second to none. The terror you feel wandering around, knowing that you can be killed at any moment (and there's no nearby checkpoint to save you), is awesome. Anyone looking for an immersive, challenging game will love Dark Souls.

This is a great game for someone with time on their hands

I would recommend this game for anyone who used to play table top games, where the DM offered a fair but thoughtfully challenging campaign. though i do wish there was a stronger story.

I think this is a very challenging but fun game. As has been said, you don't have any quests to follow other than they give you a couple of options as to where you can go. The enemies are tough, but it's really fun to just wander around and see the game. It does have elements of old rpg games. If you die you lose all the souls you colected unless you can get back to where you died. You really need to think out how to take down your enemies other wise you will die and have to repeat the whole process over. Overall it's a solid game. I am excited about the sequel.

Before getting the game do some research into the nightmare you are about to begin. This game is insanely challenging, every enemy can kill you and the bosses are no joke. There is hardly any explanation of what anything does or what you need to do. I wanted a challenging game and heard how hard the game was and it definitely lives up to the reputation. The gameplay is very enjoyable and after a little bit of grinding it gets very fun to play and encounter new enemies and find ways to defeat them.

A brutal game that is not for the faint of heart or easy to rage. A fun but desperately unforgiving game that shows no mercy. Good luck all who dare!

I like the minimalistic plot and the controls, even though some of the boss fights are very challenging.

i bought this game so that i could have at least one challenging game in my inventory. in most games today you get achievements for putting it in your console, i mean, come on! this game is hard, i mean ridiculously hard, but the sense of accomplishment you get from every boss battle is unparallelled.

games stealth attacks are so cool and violent great game

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because as much as i liked the game it seemed so much easier then demon souls in comparison (to me at least), mostly because of the flask which serves as basically unlimited health and easily accessible OP weapons. But regardless of these small nit picks its a grate game that i would recommend to a friend
