You play as a CIA operative named Hayden Tenno (Voiced by Michael Rosenbaum) who during the course of a mission in the fictional Eastern European country of Lasria is infected with the strange Technocyte Virus. It is slowly transforming his skin into an organic metal exoskeleton and allows him to summon his powerful signature weapon; the glaive that can be used as a tool as well as a weapon. While the hostile Lasrian Army is equipped with weapons that will self-destruct if you use them for more than 15 seconds, you can gather Rubles to purchase weapons from a black market arms dealer and be able to apply upgrades from silver briefcases found within the game. You may only be able to carry a pistol and a rifle at a time but there are many choices of lead pushers, everything from handguns and shotguns to assault rifles and RPG-7s (with IR guided Missiles). Between the Heavily armed Larians and the hordes of infected mutants (not to mention huge bosses) wandering the streets and sewers you'll need all the firepower you can get. This game has an excellent balance between firearm and glaive combat, plays and feels a lot like a finely tuned combination of Gears of War and Resident Evil 4 so if you liked either one (or both) you'll love this game!

    Completely Under Appreciated

I began this game not expecting much from all the mediocre review it got, I was in for a pleasant surprise. First off this game has been in development since before Gears of War so any comparison is arbitrary, especially since Digital Extremes and Epic work so closely together. This game draws from many influences, as do all games so judging it as "wanna-be" bears no merit. The single player is extremely fun as each kill with the glaive is completely satisfying. As you progress you can more and more powerful as you become sicker from the disease you contract. Your character is a little too memo and is not developed nearly as much as he should have been. However he as he increases in power he becomes increasingly fun to control. Clever boss fights that don't spell anything out for you are a welcome change from standard "look at this weak spot and shoot." Graphically this is a power house, as Digital Extremes built their Evolution Engine from the ground up. Reviews are completely subjective and are only one person’s opinion. If you enjoyed Resident Evil 4 and Gears of War you will appreciate this game. After completing it you will also realize that Dark Sector 2 will be something to remember.

This title is basically a heaven sent for those that prefer a third person shooter. The game is challenging yet not overbearing, and the story is very interesting and different in how it plays out. The weaponsand powers you get are fantastic and when you play you really feel in control of the character. In short I think this is a great buy. Online is ok but could be better but to be fair I only plaid a few times but their are only two modes of online play, and since one of them pits one against the rest like a game of tag it was a little bland. The campaign on the other hand is great. I gave it four stars because I really like it.

this is a really, really good game that i think anyone could get, well unless your under than 13 years old. but what i really like is the gory blood. but is sort of gets sick listening to the gushing noises and watchibg all the blood fly. but it gets really cool. boss battes are really cool and you have to think sometimes to continue through levels. using elements with the glaiver is really awesome. theres fire, ice, and electricity. all three are really cool. this is the best game that anyone who has a ps3 has to get

I had the game for about 3 weeks, played it off and on. I beat the game on hard and never went back to it. I ended up selling it off. The glaive idea is great, you can control it, bounce it off of things, gather things with it, power it up or ice it down or set it ablaze. The glaive reminds me of the OLD OLD movie KRULL. perhaps the only reason I bought it in the first place. After I beat it I traded it off for a different game. It just didn't have that replay ability that other games have.

    third person shooter

Dark Sector is not your everyday run and gun third person shooter, relying heavily on cover and the use of the Glaive, your main weapon. The Glaive is the result of an infection you contracted during your last mission as a government agent. As you play through the game your Glaive will evolve and gain new abilities that will help you along the way. There is definitely a learning curve in aiming with the Glaive using the sixaxis that some will find frustrating. Your other weapons which can be dual wielded with the Glaive, are upgradeable and easy to use.The graphics are not the best or the worst of the next gen engines, but work well in setting the mood of this game. The story is slow moving and a run of the mill, mad scientist with a new found power that will change the world. Dark Sector is a good game to add to your collection to play in between games of cod4 and ao2. I would definitely suggest you play it for your self.
