Very morbid. Very boring and disturbing. The Russian voice over was very well done. But, it's hard to follow the syory, nevertheless.

Although the book was better the movie was fantastic. The blu ray version makes it much more enjoyable to watch.

Day Watch is a terrific sequel to the fantasy/horror epic Night Watch. Based on the trilogy of books from writer Sergei Lukyanenko and filmed by a Russian cast and crew, the film still manages to feel more like a Hollywood picture done in Russian than a typical foreign-language film. The film is not quite as good as the original, but a great follow-up. The story follows Anton Gorodetsky (superbly played by a terrific Russian actor named Konstantin Khabensky), agent of the Night Watch and star of the original film. The plot, as with the first film, gets a little confusing at some points as the whole story explodes outwards. But by the end everything comes together rather nicely. The visual effects are some of the best I've seen. One part in specific, a car driving on the side of a hotel, looks more real than you'd expect it could. Director Timur Bekmambetov does a fantastic job of directing the film, especially with the knowledge of how much they had to do with special effects. My biggest issue with the movie is not the movie itself, but rather the dvd release... First, the description on the back of the case is incorrect and sounds like it was written by someone who has not seen either movie before. Second, the dvd has very few special features. There is a look at the making of the film, one commentary track, and the trailers for the film (plus trailers for several low-profile horror films). There are no deleted scenes, no interviews or discussions of the rising popularity of the film series, and absolutely nothing about the upcoming third film of the franchise (either Twilight Watch or Dusk Watch), which is supposed to be filmed in English. But the worst part of the dvd release is the subtitles. Night Watch had very unique subtitles, making them a part of the viewing experience, interactive with what was happening in the film, rather than just words at the bottom of the screen. From the reviews I read, the American theatrical release involved the same style of subtitles. However, the dvd release utilizes standard subtitles at the bottom of the screen, which is rather disappointing. If you're not a fan of subtitles, you can go to the English language track for it. But I was really looking forward to the interactive subtitles again. Overall, Day Watch really is a great movie. BUT it does have that major issue of just receiving a very poor dvd release. I don't know if the studio plans on re-releasing a dvd of it at a later time with more features including the interactive trailers or not, but I for one certainly hope that they do.

Okay as a fan of the first film Night Watch I couldn't wait to see Day Watch and when I finally got to see it I felt like I wasted my time.The plot of Day Watch feels very thrown together and disjointed and while the acting is decent (Konstantin Khabensky really makes Anton come alive) and the special effects are done well it is not enough to save this film.It felt as if I was watching a sequel made by someone who had never seen the first film at all.The plot is so choppy and confusing that it feels like they had 2 writers collaborate on a plot with no idea of what the other was writing and then they cut what they both wrote in half and taped the plot together. I mean the plot synopsis on the back of the box seems easy enough to follow but when you see how it is projected on film you are left scratching your head and saying to yourself,"What the heck did I just watch?"My best suggestion to you is to read the books.First of all after you read the books you really wonder why the second film is called Day Watch because the whole story is part of the first book Night Watch.Second after you read the story that is supposed to be "Day Watch" you get even more thrown off because half of what is in the book is not even in the film.I even wonder if they even read the books or just scanned a few pages and said,"Let's make a movie!"I have yet to read he actual Day Watch book (I just got it from a friend yesterday) but I look forward to reading it because I really enjoyed the first book.I really suggest that you avoid this film at all costs,but if you do decide to see it at least read Night Watch first and you will see what I am talking about.Night Watch is a decent film as well but even it pales in comparison with the book.

This is a sequel to Night Watch, which is a great Russian Fantasy movie, continues the story of the battle between dark and light. Even though the movie is in russian, the superb acting, story and special effects is worth reading the subtitles.

The sequal to night watch, these are both awesome movies. the movie is in Russian, but don't worry, if you don't like reading subtitles, just change the audio to English. This movie has some of the best acting i have ever seen, great story line, and cool visual effects! a must see movie!!

avoid because of the dubbing issue! It would not be difficult to dub into english in this day. It would be much more user friendly that way. To say much more would be redundant. If you don't like this review don't use it!
