Despite what critics seem to think, Days Gone hits it dead on the head. You play as Deacon St. John, a man who’s trying to find a reason to continue on in life despite losing his Wife, Sarah Whitaker before the apocalypse truly began. To survive this dynamic world that comes for you, you must be properly equipped and alert at all times. Maintaining your bike by collecting Scrap Metal and Gas may sometimes seem like a chore in the beginning, but that was deliberate as you’ll eventually upgrade your Bike and Weaponry as you progress. Collecting XP by defeating ‘Freakers’ and completing “Storylines” (story pathways that elaborate the world of Days Gone) will allow you to level up and use new skills, along with finding new Blueprints to craft new Weapons and Items. Riding through Oregon in Days Gone has never felt sweeter on the Motorcycle, the sound design and the environment really hit home here, outside of occasional technical issues (will be explained later). Oregon itself looks very beautiful in this game, you’ll be riding through Rainy and Snowy weather, and that only amplifies the beauty in this game! The music is very fitting and sincere, voice acting is top notch, and the character design/building is amazing to the core. I would say the game is around 30-40 hours long for the average player. Now for the bad, don’t worry it’s fairly small (but still very bad) The Technical issues, it’s suffers from these later on in the game, from Pop-In, Environments not fully rendering, long loading times, very terrible frame-rate dips that make the game BORDERLINE unplayable. Those reasons alone are enough to not buy the game. Overall I rate this game a 9.5/10 (If the technical issues were ironed out, which Bend Studio said they will fix them) however it sits at a 7.5 with its buggy mess right now. 2 whole points taken away from these issues, yikes, I know. Yet despite these issues, this is a beautiful game with heart poured into every aspect. Thank you for the Ride Bend Studio!

An Open World That Pulled Me In

Days Gone is an awesome Post apocalyptic third person open world action adventure game. Although at launch there were some speed bumps, Bend Studio stuck to their guns and I had a perfect experience without any technical issues. Don’t listen to the critics and give this game a shot. I am not a huge open world fan, but PlayStation Studios have been the ones to pull me in with great narratives and a straight up fun game and Days Gone is no exception roping me in to get the Platinum trophy. The crafting and character upgrades are fun, there’s a great variety of weapons, upgrading your bike is fun and exploring the world never gets old. The variety of enemies is good and it never gets old using the Freakers to take out the enemy camps. In short, I recommend this game to anyone who has interest in narrative and fun gameplay. Last item I’ll say is the collectors edition is well worth the money, the statue looks amazing on display and the little extras are great!

Have not played the game yet. The reviews online probably speak for themselves. But looks like a fun game nevertheless. The collectors edition is full of goodies and i think it was a good deal. Stickers, pins, statue, artbook, dlc and steelbook. Got this baby on sale too.

The price for me cost about the price of two full priced games, as I used my birthday coupon to knock 15% off. The statue is amazing, small enough to fit next to my TV without obscuring anything in the picture. The Steelbook and statue are amazing. I have not played the game which I hear is average

This game is more than the sum of it's parts. That is to say if you over look the bugs, a few game play issues and critics, there's a great game here. Great graphics and story line are just the beginning. You can get lost for hours in this game. The collectors edition is also great, and well made. Do yourself a favor, and buy this game!

Days Gone is a pretty standard open world adventure game with an above average story and likeable characters taking place in the beautifully crafted rural Oregon. The gameplay is about what you expect from most games of the genre with fun leveling, upgrades and looting. I find it to be a cross between Far Cry, Mad Max and The Last of us with often the emphasis on stealth and resource management. If you enjoy a good ubigrind this is a good substitute. The game is a little buggy at launch but the studio has been patching it regularly. Nothing game breaking. Its probably more if a 4/5 but I give it 5 anyway.

I am really loving Days Gone. It is such an immersive game with gorgeous graphics and fabulous sound. There are so many details in this game which I am still discovering which I haven't seen in a video game before and I have been playing video games for many decades. I have enjoyed the story and the adventure, journeying through this freaker infested land is really quite something. I have yet to grow tired of this game and I am many hours in. I am always hungry to play it, and I know I am onto a really good game if I feel this way. Top marks to Bend Studio who have lavished a lot of love on this game, and it can only get better with further updates to iron out some of the technical issues and future dlcs.

If you’re a fan of scary games I don’t think you will be disappointed. Jump scares and zombie noises that freak you out especially with headphones on will definitely keep you on your toes. I love zombies and motorcycles so this was a cool buy for me with the collectors statue I keep on my toolbox at work. Gameplay is similar to the last of us which I also enjoyed. Taking out hoards of zombies still stresses me out in a scary fun yelling at the tv way.

This game has so far been a blast to play. Yes it is derivative in that it borrows from several types of game genres (Open World, Zombie, Shooter, etc) but the combined systems and gameplay have been a sweet ride so far. To their credit they have been aggressively patching this game since it's launch and a lot of the performance issues cited on those reviews are no longer present. Not bad for a game that launched only a few days ago, also no microtransactions or loot boxes (Bless you Bend Studios). So if you're interested in an open world zombie-like (they're freakers) apocalypse game with some Red Dead gameplay elements, give this game a well-deserved try.

I’ve seen a lot of the critics reviews and others and they don’t really make sense the game is so well put together and the story is definitely long and interesting, I like the the bike is basically an extension of yourself and you have to take care of it, the open world is beautiful and there is so much happening around you. The games mechanics are really good, honestly I would give the game 8/10

This game is absolutely amazing!! The story is incredible, the gameplay is amazing, it has some of the best acting I've ever seen in a video game, and the campaign mode is long and rewarding! Perhaps the best part that I see very few people talking about is the soundtrack!!! If you're an audio person like me, you're going to love this game!

Game is good, nothing innovative but for those who prefer 1st party exclusives this will scratch an itch Sony has not yet done. Exploration is not rewarded like in Fallout and rpg mechanics are mediocre, however this improved over Horizon Zero Dawn’s non-existent rpg mechanics. Sony needs to step it up in the RPG space. Hopefully Bend does so with a sequel.

Days Gone is so far my game of the year. Loved the characters, story, gameplay, and beautiful graphics. Multiple media outlets gave it a bad rap because they played before day one patch. I feel it's good enough for a sequel and I hope sony greenlights it. definitley worth the buy!

To me, this is one of the best PS4 exclusives from this console generation. It's a shame that it had such a rocky launch with so many complaints about glitches. I was one of the lucky few who had almost zero issues. The story is FANTASTIC. Some of it is a bit obvious and predictable, but there were 1 or two scenes where I was, "NO WAY!" Happy there. Voice acting was fantastic. I'm a big Sam Witwer fan. He does a good job as a protagonist. The supporting characters are just as good! Combat can be a little wonky, but once you get used to it, it's plenty fun. Motorcycle was fun to drive. Hordes were an absolute nightmare to fight and the challenge of it was very refreshing! Overall, you NEED to have internet access so you can have the game patched. PERIOD. If you can do this, you'll have so much fun with this game.

A rare miss at excellence by a Sony exclusive

While I own both a PS4 and an X1, one of the reasons I stand firmly in Sony's corner when it comes to play-time is due, not just to the sheer quantity of PlayStation exclusives, but the quality of those same exclusives. Does that disclaimer mean Days Gone is bad? Not at all. It's very fun. The weather system is incredible. Riding your motorcycle is a thrill. Fighting is handled well. The problem is, while it may be fun, it never really hits that same level of excellence as games like God of War, The Last of Us, or Horizon Zero Dawn, to name a few. For every fun thing, there always seems to be something that brings it down a notch. Scavenging can get tedious or knowing you're going to need to repair your bike, once again (occasionally preventing you from enjoying your current ride,) are examples. If you're hoping to have a game to enjoy, Days Gone can certainly fit that bill, just keep expectations tempered in comparison to the many other Sony exclusives that have come in and raised the bar upon their release, hording Game of the Year honors by the handful. Days Gone is probably not going to be winning anyone's GOTY, but it may very well give you a zombie-killing open world game fix to eat up your game time.
