Ok, in 1998 two films were released to tell the story of the end of caused by space rocks— Deep Impact and Armageddon. Deep Impact had a comet and Armageddon had asteroids. Depending on the type of movie you're looking for will determine your enjoyment. Think of Deep Impact as an engaging museum exhibit examining how we as a society would handle the situation. Armageddon, on the other hand would be a roller coaster ride that just wants to give you a thrill. Both are entertaining in their own way. Also keep in mind that Deep Impact was developed and produced (but not directed ) by Steven Spielberg, while Armageddon was directed and produced by Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer— the kings of action and big explosions. So if you're more interested in character studies than explosions, you'll enjoy Deep Impact.

This movie is one the all time best classic it has great actors

This is a really good, over looking sci-fi film. It had the misfortune of being released at the same time as the big budget, heavy marketed, megamovie, Armageddon. Many people pasted on Deep Impact for Armageddon. It don't have the action and drama as Armageddon, but they try to take a more human and realistic (well, as realistic as Hollywood can get and still make money) approach to the same situation. I recommend this movie for those that don't need to see super human Bruce Willis save the day.

Paired with "Armageddon" in the summer these similar themed films each carried their own weight. Some very fine special effects took only a small moment of this film. There was more story surrounding the breaking of the news of the impending impact. Morgan Freeman very real and presidential in his role. The dramatic acting is what sets this film apart from Armageddon. You will watch this more than one time.

Made in 1998, I was surprised I had never seen this movie before. While shopping at Best Buy, I noticed it in the $5.99 bin and bought it . So Glad I did. Great cast, good story line. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the believable movie. What if...... Several good "need a kleenex" moments. I will watch this one again!

I remember this film coming out to a lot of fanfare when I was a kid. Now I'm an adult when I talk about Deep Impact I'm surprised by how few people remember it. I introcuced my wife to this film a couple of years ago and she loves it. Yes, it carries all the cheesy diasater movie tropes you'd expect but it defines an era of cinema perfectly.

I remember seeing this in theaters when I was a kid and leaving speechless and almost crying. To this date Deep Impact has transform to an instant classic. Now that it's on HD 1080p the special effects look even more realistic, and the film leaves you thinking. What if...

If you like end of the world stories you will love this movie. Buy it and put it next to Contagion, Armageddon, and Interstellar. In this movie you get to know people as families so prepare for that whole aspect of it. Family friendly for families with teenage children.

I like this movie and the BluRay Edition for a number of reasons. 1st- I like Tea Leoni; 2nd- I like Morgan Freeman; 3rd- I love Sonically impressive movies; and 4th- this is a crisp Blu Ray master of one of my favorite pure entertainment movies.

My natural disaster movie's collection?. This movie was a must to my collection. Its an awesomely made movie that i watch time & time again. Its a classic, you wont be dissatisfied.

Like them both. This has Elijah and a black president, played by Morgan Freeman. Which is just too legit. Some cheesy cgi but decent story to go with the action.

I've always loved this movie and had it on DVD. I was in the store and it was in the discount bin and it was very inexpensive so I decided to replace the DVD. It is a great transfer to HD and the sound is also very good.

Not a big fan of Apocalypse movies--this one threatens an Extinction Level Event--but it actually holds your interest throughout. Some terrific CGI.

Underated End of Earth kind of Film Remembering the good old days Is a must own for collectors

Action packed movie with low price can't beat this cost of this movie

If you haven't seen this movie, well it's your typical disaster movie. Enough though it's like most it's still worth owning because it's worth it. Suspense and emotional and who doesn't want that.

Great looking Blu ray, but could definitely use a remaster.
