Well worth seeing great action movie great picture

Same director with mark and another amazing movie to watch

I saw the ending of few times on TV. So I know we I wanted to see this movie with the best cimatogrphy, And with the excellent price it really was worth it. Pete berg is one if my most favorite directors and mark Wahlberg one of my favorite actors. The 1 thing they said about the reason the did this was to show the 'HUMAN LOSSES ' NOT JUST THE ECOLOGICAL DISASTER, which is true that was all I remembered from the news: worst BP disaster in history at that time and not much else was highlighted or talked about then. I admit I cried so much as soon as the first guys on the deck got hurt and until the end.

As an engineer who works for a major oil company (Not BP) and who spent years working a 14 days on/ 14 days off schedule on deepwater production platforms (what gets put in place to produce and transport the oil/gas after the rig has drilled the wells) I think this was a fairly accurate, and entertaining movie. It did embellish, as others have said, things like "dinosaur oil" and finding fossils in well cuttings. It's the decay of micro organisms, not a bunch of T-Rexs that turn into oil and give the term "fossil fuel". Also it failed to mention a lot of other contributing factors, but gives the common moviegoer a good sense of what life offshore is like and perhaps why oil is so expensive with all the equipment and tests that are necessary to safely produce oil and gas, some of which BP shortcut.

Watched most of it on a plane and never got to see the last five minutes. Looking forward to it.

Well executed dramatization of the recent oil rig disaster. Excellent use of HDR and Dolby Atmos.

Director Peter Berg and star Mark Wahlberg once again deliver a tragic and thrilling tale of survival and heroism based on true events. Deepwater Horizon is one of two films released in 2016 completed by the duo and their third collaboration to date. Deepwater Horizon is a very well executed film and tension is palpable throughout the entire 1 hour 45 minute runtime. While some people may argue that this film is in poor taste or an exploitation of a disaster, I would counter by saying that Berg's film captures the panic and gruesome mayhem of the events without ever feeling like it is a capitalization for the sake of entertainment. Looking at the technical aspects of the 4K disc, the film boasts terrific audio and visual quality despite being another 2K upscale. If you are a fan of Berg's previous works and can pick it up for a reasonable price, Deepwater Horizon comes highly recommended from this reviewer.
