    Excellent Sound!

I just purchased a pair of these towers tonight, along with the Def Tech CS-9040 center speaker, and a pair of of Def Tech ProMonitor 800 rear surround speakers. They're being powered by a Yamaha Aventage RX-A760, which I also purchased this evening. I could not be more pleased with the overall quality of sound! I have ZERO complaints about anything. I was initially planning on purchasing a more expensive Marantz receiver, but after my helpful Best Buy associate walked me through my options, and demo'd both units, I was completely sold on this package. Everything out the door - including 100' of speaker wire and wall mounts for the surround speakers - I spent approx. $2,800. Worth every penny. It is truly an immersive audio experience to go along with stunning 4K video.

Went in thinking I wanted bookshelf speakers and a sub to replace an aging 7.1 system.after hours of listening I was shown the Definitive Tech BP-9040 towers. Iv’e had them 3 weeks now and love the sound. I didn’t think the powered 8’s would be capable, thought I needed bigger,Iwas wrong, these are terrific towers. Spotify high audio sounds as if you were in the studio during the recording. I love the low sub sonic bass in contemporary music ,however Trad Jazz sparkles like you have never heard before. I am running a Marantz SR 5013, added a center channel &and surrounds for 5.1 . Do not miss the 7.1 at all.

    Great speakers

Bought these to replace a sound bar and it’s definitely night and day difference. The intergrated subwoofer definitely adds substantial bass to home theater and making these more portable and flexible for systems that doesn’t require any separate subwoofer. Movies have an immersive sound stage and music plays clear. I have these setup with the CS 9060 and A90 atmos topper and it’s works perfect with my setup. I have these running in a 3.1.2 configuration and I am happily satisfied with the sound stage. These are bi pole speakers and will create a larger image to any room. I would recommend buying these if it’s on sale that way you can buy the atmos speaker to complete the setup. Great performance for the price.

Purchased two open items, missing bases and one top piece. Best buy associates even called me back to let me know if they found the mussing parts. Got news ones from Definitive directly super easy and fast. Definitive Customer Service was great. Both in great condition and work well. Way better than my old speakers, so clear.

My entire home theater is Definitive Technology. I am amazed at how life-like the sounds are and the truly encompassing bass that can compete with higher-performing systems, even your local theater (no joke!). This speaker has Bipolar technology so the sound is coming from the rear and front, but I have Dolby Atmos, so I purchased the speaker that attaches to the top. Overall, I highly recommend this speaker.

    9020 vs. the upper models

The sound from these 9020 vs. the upper level models is equal to; no need to purchase the 9040's,etc unless size and power ratings matter to you. Specs. are well within tolerances of 85% of the audiophiles. These are replacing 40+ year old Altec Lansing Valencia Studio Monitors, precede by 47 year old Rectlinear Bookshelve speakers.

Did all my research, spent 10s of hrs looking for speakers, both in magnolia and a premium audio store local (too expensive). Absolutely love these speakers. the built in subs and dbbs are incredible. loved these over the MartinLogan (because it had too much of a sweet spot). and didn't go with b&w top of the line because I don't sit around and just listen to music, more of a tv and movie guy. don't get me wrong, sounds great for music. amazing customer service. easy setup. no need for subwoofer cables but you do want to give these babies enough power. Im doing with a pioneer 502, but if youre not looking to spend 3 grand (like I wasn't) then definitely go with a d3 amplifier. don't buy for the built in atmos speakers, they're garbage. would prefer a biamp ability over atmos, but sooo much better than the 9060s.

In my opinion, like most of home theater/home audio, speakers are a totally subjective topic and worth walking into a store and listening to a variety of different speaker manufacturers within your budget. Ever since I purchased my first pair of BP 7006 bipolar super towers that I still use over 15 years ago, I’ve just been a Def Tech fan ever since. I like the dispersed room filling sound that Def Tech towers produce - just a preference over direct sound or horn tweeter designs from other quality companies. The best advice I can give is what sounds good to you is the right speaker to buy. If your preference is similar to mine, then Def Tech towers are worth at least taking a test listen in the store.

I spent quite a while in the magnolia center listening to different setups, and finally decided to go with these as my front r/l speakers. i already had the 9040 center to match, so choosing a set within my budget was pretty easy. i have pioneer lsx-503 pushing these. i am using the LFE input with these and ihave the speakers set to large (against DT recommendations), as recommended from a sound and vision reviewer. i must say these sound excellent. the bass these produce is deep and tight without sounding too boomy. i was skeptical of the bass produced in the magnolia sound room as they were not using the LFE channel, but i was not disappointed when i got them hooked up at home. the highs are not tinny, and the mids are warm and comforting. i have not expierenced what others have reported with these towers (humming noise, rattling nose, or reversed polarity on audessey setup). they are a bit pricey at regular price, but if you wait for a sale they are well worth it. after all said and done, i got them for approximatly bogo. all in all i am very happy with these and they mix very well with my mirage MX bookshelfs for surrounds.

I listened to these speakers in the magnolia room and these to my untrained ears sounded just as good as more expensive speakers that were featured in that room. The built in powered subwoofers in each of the towers are a treat because it adds the full range of low end sound besides the mid and highs. I got these during last month's audio fest sale and there is no going back with these bad boys. I have a medium sized living room and these are more than powerful enough and sound phenomenal. This my first foray into higher end speakers and I feel like I got in for a bargain to the audiophile world. You will love these. Pull the trigger if you're thinking about these as an option.

I was so obsessed with the quality of the sound and space saving features, everything built into one speaker. I had to exchange for more, not only a pair but two pairs. It meant spending more but these are the best brand of speakers I've purchased so far. "And I am a music and sounds fiend"!

Do yourself a favor and go listen to these wonderful speakers. Clear highs, great mids and outstanding bass make for one heck of a speaker. With 2 of these I found it hard to justify a stand alone sub. Try em, you'll like em!

These speakers are AMAZING. Your wife won't be able to bash the look because they are ascetically pleasing (but she will complain when the box arrives - it is large) but most importantly, THE SOUND. I have not been able to find a speaker that can compare to there in term of being an all around winner. This is a very well rounded produced, hence the price point. Hook them up to a quality AVR and be prepared to be amazed. I purchased the previous model for my home theater and my bother was so impressed he asked me to help him build a home theater starting with these. The sound quality is exquisite whether you are listening to music or watching a movie. In terms of music these things will flex with all music genres, rap, reggae, rock, classical, opera, pop; they are amazing. Best of all if space is a concern for you go with these. The box is much larger than the speakers do to the premium packaging but out of the box they have a small foot print especially when you consider the integrated subs. The bass that they put out is great for most but I personally found the frequency response isn't quite as low as a designated sub. For most this will be more than enough bass however I wanted more. Paired them with the Def Tech super cube 2000, AMAZING. You will never have to go past 12 o'clock on the sub volume knob. JUST BUY THEM!

I have had Pro Cinema's for many years and decided to upgrade my center and front speakers. Since I was already a fan of Definitive Technology I decided to head out to Best Buy and see what they had. Quite frankly I had know idea that Def Tech was about to even their BP 9000s series and that the speakers were on close out. I snapped up the 9020 for like $429 ea. It was too good of a deal to pass up. I am playing them through a Pioneer Elite AV and a DM10 center speaker which is the new Def Tech series. The sound is great. I am very pleased.
