I currently have a Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 setup using a Denon AVR X4300 receiver. Previous to these I was using the procinema 600 speakers in the front and I thought they sounded good. I moved the 600s to be front height speakers and now these 800s are the main front. What a difference these speakers make. They difference was almost night and day. The mids and highs sounded more vibrant. I'm thinking the smaller 600s were not matching the frequency cut over of the sub as I wasnt using the sub the came with the 600s. I would definitely recommend these for those of you who need smaller speakers.

I was looking for a small form factor that would not break the bank, but would also produce a great sound. I really feel these speakers match the Bose Acoustimass series in size and function. Especially since the setup versatile and the living room looks great. I have created a 7.2 system with these speakers as my fronts and rears. They sound great and pack a huge punch. Really great purchase and I have no regrets. Also keep in mind that they do take about 30 hours of listening time to fully break in. I would also highly recommend the speaker mounts that can be bought for them also made by Definitive, especially if they will be installed on a wall.

Def tech 800 speakers sound outstanding for its size. They are small, yet detailed and powerful. I use them for surround height channels. I've paired up with 5.1 Canton speakers. These speakers pack quite the weight at 4 pounds each, which is what you expect to spend on great quality. Capable producing relatively high sensitivity of 89 decibels and delivering up to 150 watts per channel I have the perfect set of entry-level home theater speakers. Performance is everything! Buy these and you're not going to regret it.

I've been a Definitive Tech speaker owner since the the early 1990's I've owned their floor standing speakers and larger subs in my past set up's, but in the last few years wanted those speaker boxes off my floor. I use my Definitive's mainly for my video room and movie watching. In the system I'm running SR9040 for L&R Surr. Procinema 80's L&R back channels and front height channels and my recently purchased ProMonitor 800'S for front L&R and rear L&R height channels, and three subs two 12" and one 8" of different make. No disappointments here. Great clean sounding speakers as always, and and handle the power great coming from my Marantz A/V Receiver. Match these speakers with either high end Definitive subs or other high end makes and you won't be disappointed. Plenty of sound and power handling. You don't always need big stuff to impress your friends. Give Definitive Technology Speakers a listen you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I was hesitant to replace my big tower speakers with these, but when paired with a good sub, the sound is impressive. These fit much better in the space they are being used and I don't feel like I have lost much in the way of fidelity. I replaced all of my 7.2 surround with these (except the center and subs). Also, these speakers come with various mount options.

Great speakers for the money with the right receiver and sub. I upgraded my front speakers to the 800's and put the two front 600's in my bedroom and running a Zone2 set up. Nice quality and sound with a 5 year warranty! I'm pushing my surround sound with a Pioneer Elite VSX-90 receiver thru a 4k tv and it all looks and sounds great. Whoever gives the Definitive Technology bookshelf speakers a bad review has no idea what they're doing. (See pics)

Wow! I didn’t have a lot of room in my newly set up record room but I knew I had to have audiophile quality speakers for the warm, inviting reproduction of the sound of my vinyl collection. The guys inside Magnolia took the time to show me multiple speakers and brands and these were the clearest, cleanest, most sonically pleasing to my ear. And they are just the right size for a small room. They aren’t going to hit those really deep lows but that’s what you get a subwoofer for. These made the mids and highs ring out perfectly! Once I graduate from these it will be to a set of floor standing Def-Tech speakers, no doubt!

I needed a small but mighty set of surround speakers to finish out my 7.1 system. They had to be wall mountable and of course sound great. These fit the bill well!

I walked into Best Buy to talk with a salesman about purchasing a Samsung curved sound bar for my new Samsung 65" 4K Smart Curved LED Ultra HDTV. His comment was that many people buy awesome TVs and then pair them with sound bars. His comment was that Samsung is not a speaker company. And that sound bars, in general, are pretty poor. After spening a lot of money on a great TV, it's worth completing the experience by purchasing a superior audio system. He brought me into the Magnolia demo room and played the Definitive Technology bipolar speakers. They sounded great. It turned out that the speakers were on sale for half off their original price. I bought two BP-8040ST towers along with the corresponding CS-8040 center speaker. I wanted to buy two matching surround speakers from the same family, but they were no longer available from anywhere at Best Buy. Instead, I purchased two PROSAT 800 surround speakers. The sound from the entire system is awesome. While the speakers, plus a Yamaha receiver, certainly cost more than a sound bar, the old adage holds true: you get what you pay for. I couldn't be happier and would highly recommend Definitive Technology speakers.

Except for my subwoofer (Polk Audio) my surround speakers are all DefTech. These ProMonitor 800 speakers are a nice compact size with a big sound. They are also excellent at producing low level detail during quiet scenes on a TV show or movie. They are pricier than a pair of low budget surround speakers, but I feel the added quality is worth it. I have no regrets having bought these little gems. One caveat: I bought DefTech ProMonitor stands for these ($100 per pair). You can find other stands for a lower price, but the speakers mount so perfectly on these stands that I can’t imagine any other stand would match nearly as well. If you’re going to wall mount the speakers, this of course won’t be an issue.

I purchased this ProMonitor 800 at a steep discount via an Open Box Sale. While it was listed as functional with only cosmetic damage, it in fact wasn’t functional. However I was able to fully repair it myself. It’s an excellent speaker (at the time & new) valued at around $180 for $30, making it steal of a bargain

Best 4 1/2 speakers for the money. Imaging is absolutely brilliant for the size. I own/owned many speakers from b&W 685, 684, Def tech sm45,55, pm1000, wharfedale diamonds 10 series, Jbl 530, energy rc, Martin login motions, etc. Each of these speakers are good in its own terms. Def pm800 suites me very well for rear duties in my 7.1 HT setup. Pm1000 would have been better but since my room is not too big I went for pm800s. Also pm800 goes easy on the wall compared to pm1000.

I was blown away when I heard the sound from these little speakers. I exchanged these for the DefTech SM45, wanted a midrange speaker and something not so large. I am using them as front left and right. I do have a sub and center channel. The only negative for me...even on a level surface at a higher volume the would slide off the speaker stand and/or the shelf I had them on. Im exchanging them for the DefTech Pro Monitor 1000.

Bought these speakers to utilize the atmos capability of my denon avr-x4200. I have them mounted on the ceiling of my living room/home theatre using the pro mount 80's and ran the speaker wire in the attic and down the wall into my av cabinet. The added effects of these speakers are great for overhead sounds falling rain or whatever. Great substitution for in ceiling speakers especially if you rent like me. pure bliss!

We needed to purchase these smaller front speakers for our surround sound because our TV is on a stand and we went with a bigger tv so there was not enough room for our older, larger speakers. These speakers are the perfect size and sound better than our older, larger ones. They are a bit pricey at $144 each, but the sound is incredible!

Amazing speakers. Small but dense and stylish. Nice warm and very clear sound. Good bass, but pair them with a good subwoofer for really excellent sound. Very detailed. You need to adhere to the break in period of 20-40 hours for them to really shine.

These sound very good for speakers of this size, and very clear. They are very small relative to the 4.5" drivers used which allows for easy placement with surface mounts. While they do not produce low frequencies very loudly, they have almost no distortion even at high volume.
