ProSub 800 8" Subwoofer

We used to have a 12" subwoofer, but it drove our dog a little crazy. So we downsized to this ProSub 800 8" subwoofer and are really enjoying it...I think the dog likes it too...

Nice, but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a decent sub for low volume movies and music, unfortunately, due to it's small size, it distorts at higher volume. A larger speaker with a bigger amp is really needed to give you that boom you desire for your music at higher volumes. I primarily used this speaker for music and it just did not cut it. It was surprisingly clear at low volumes but again, turning it up a notch, and it distorted considerably. I own a pair of Definitive Technology Studio 55 speakers, and they are by far the best speakers I have heard in a long time. I initially purchased this sub to pair it with these speakers. I exchanged this sub for a larger 12 inch sub from a different manufacturer and am satisfied with the sound I got out of the bigger speaker.

Big sound from a small package!

This DT subwoofer equals the sound at about half the space. Love it!

Subwoofer Value

One feature that is handy is a side mounted volume control for different uses (music, films, sports). One annoyance are occasional popping sounds that seem to be due to IR interference. I have this set up as a wireless speaker using a Rocketfish IR transmitter. Satisfied overall.
