great sub
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this sub as part of a 5.1 pro cinema 800 system. This sub has performed better than any sub I have owned. I usually place my sub somewhere between the the front speakers. I used Def Tech's recommended placement of a corner wall after I didn't like the response I was getting. Huge difference. I also recommend running your front speakers through the sub's crossover, you can really feel the roll off to the front speakers. Great sub at a very good price.

Impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so impressed with this thing. I have this along with 4 promonitor 800s and a procenter 1000 in my 5.1 system. It is really really nice. And in this price range...unbelievable. Seriously. I used to have a Bose acoustimass system and for approximately the same price this blows it away. Seriously. And I have shopped around alot before deciding on these. Go to your nearest Magnolia home theater center and hear for yourself.

Very nice Sub!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing rocks, I am very pleased with the overall package. I am using it with a Denon 2113ci, Def tech pro-monitor 1000 fronts/centers. Fills the room with full, rich sound.

Good power
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very pleased with the sound the 8" woofer produced, but I ended up having to exchange it due to all the rattling the subwoofer enclosure made. I noticed the legs on the enclosure were screw ons and I had them tightened real good, but they would still loosen up and start causing the box to annoyingly rattle. I even tried sticking felt pads on the bottom of the legs, but the box still rattled. AND during loud scenes in action movies, the box would rattle so much and move/bounce around the floor. I ended up upgrading to the ML Dynamo500. If it weren't for the rattling, I would have been pleased with the subwoofer.

Quality sound in a small package!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had read the reviews on this deftech sub and decided to demo it. It sounded great at the store and it's quality at the house was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this sub.

Liked when tested @store, but didn't work@ home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product did not work out of the box, so we took it back and just went with one sub (Geek squad when they came to hook it up said for size of room and where we had the other sub located we could get away with just one). Had been really pleased, though, with this sub when testing it at the store.

Great all around product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to agree with all the positive things people reviewing this subwoofer have to say. It was recommended by BB Magnolia rep and I do not regret spending a little extra on a price controlled product for the quality.

Definitely not 300 RMS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t even know where to begin with this thing, especially at it’s unrealistic price tag. Let me just tell you if I would I bought this thing for $400, I would of been much more angry, but I got the entire definitive technology pro Cinema 5.1 system for $300 and it came with this sub, now the satellite speakers are wonderful, and to be honest, I’m a bass head and I love deep punchy powerful bass, I knew automatically this sub was not going to cut it for me anyways, so I thought to myself, eh I’ll just keep it for a bit and then upgrade to a bigger sub later on when I save more money, but Jesus I didn’t know it would suck this bad, especially with this 300 watt RMS claim. It’s definitely not 300 RMS, I have had cheap 12 inch subs in the past that are 200 watts rms that bump harder than this, yes of course the 12 inch is a bigger sub and box, but not that much bigger, and also a lot cheaper with less power. This thing is $400 rated at 300 Watts RMS with a passive radiator so it has 16 inches of surface area with a 300 watt amp, it should bump pretty good even with its small size except well; it doesn’t. I was super excited to setup my 5.1 system so I quickly hooked everything up and was super impressed with the satellite speakers but the sub just does not have the power to deliver, even if you don’t care about bass and you are not a bass head like me, this is still disappointing lol ESPECIALLY AT $400. Now of course I let the sub do it’s break in period and so forth, but after the break in period it got louder but still does not impress me and it didn’t even impress my mom when she came over lol, I’m serious here. After the break in period, saying it sounds okay at low volume is being generous, but once you turn the volume up on your receiver, it loses all bass and starts poping, hopping around and all sorts of crazy stuff. I just don’t know who this sub is for, it’s not a cheap sub, it’s closer to a high quality sub price tag, but it lacks power and quality with music and movies and I can find cheaper subs that will bump harder than this, for example the bic America f12 sub. If you are a bass head like me, don’t spend $400 on this, and if you are a person who does not care about bass, and just wants a decent sounding sub, don’t get this either lol. Even if it’s priced at $200 I still wouldn’t get it. At $400 just run away, Unless if you want to be disappointed then go ahead and buy it. Now I’m not trying to offend anyone here, I’m just trying to save you $400, and with all of these great reviews on this sub which is also unrealistic, I hope you can take my world for it and don’t buy it, because you will be disappointed weather you are an audiophile or not. Overall I don’t not recommend this product, there are better subs out there for half the price.

NOT FOR STEREO USE-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 4.2 stereo setup, analog. After I installed, the unit-based crossover was INOPERATIVE. Turns out this can ONLY be freq.-adjusted based upon a HOME THEATRE-style reciever. Not having that, it sounded TERRIBLE.(no internal eq. on my 2-channel recvr.)..Long story short--Know this going in!!! Luckily my local BB store was open minded and allowed me to swap for an appropriate sub (ENERGY ECW-10) that works on an analog system, so all is well!!!!!

Good for music
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's good for most music and has good punch but can't handle the deep lows like the bigger subs.

Great sub/weak amp
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.bought this 2016 & the amp already failed. not very happy when after the sale found out Prosubs ( 600 even 800 ) have known history of amp failures. having previously had different DT PRODUCTS this quality area is not expected. hopefully will get back by Sept. 2018 from warranty coverage & no further concerns.

Not reliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Failed after two years...waited a month while they replaced the amp....then if failed again...but this time, Best Buy says..."no warranty, we won't even fix it if you pay." Tried calling Definitive Technology four times....got through once, then they put me on hold for 15 minutes and then disconnected. When it worked, it was fine (although it would travel across wooden floors and unplug itself). But if you want something to last more than 24 months...this isn't it.

Sub woofer crashed twice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed the system and everything seemed ok until 4 days in and the sub crashed. I exchanged for a new one and the sub crashed 1 hour into a movie. Terrible.

Amazing...Until it died
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this sub was actually working it was amazing. It had a lot of power, so much that the ceiling tiles started to rattle. However, only 6 months after purchasing it, it stopped working. Now I have to wait for it to be repaired or replaced. This is not acceptable for a $400 speaker.

Sub went out within 60 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the definitive prosub 800 on Feb 3, 2012 and on March 31, 2012 I brought it back to BestBuy because God know what was wrong with it. I can not believe that a sub went out within 60 days of purchase and I never turn the volume pass 70% of it max and BestBuy was helpful by sending the sub back to th manufacter for me. If anyone considered a Prosub 800 please reconsider it.........
