I read a bunch of the reviews and this basically came down to: it's great for movies and ok for music. I believe this little box is great for everything!
For my setup (nothing too fancy) it's actually, I hate to say, too much. I have had to turn this down to a volume of 15 out of 40 otherwise I would start to damage my walls and crack windows!
I do have this unit placed in a caddie unit with my components. Its a large enclosure but it rattle alot with the volume up.
Overall I am very, very happy and satisfied with this super sub!!!

The SuperCube 4000 by itself is a good subwoofer and is definitely one that should be considered if space is a consideration. In my case, I should have gone with the 6000 or even 8000 model to get the volume I was looking for. However, I can and likely will get another 4000 which because of their size and performance, should make an excellent combination that I will ultimately be happier with than I would have been with a single SuperCube 6000. With the above stated, it gets 4 stars and not 5 because I found it to be harder than the previous 2 subwoofers to properly place in our living room and by itself doesn't meet my needs.

I purchased the SC4000 after I tried the SC2000 with the def tech 8060 front speakers. This speaker is better matched with the 8060 speakers. I need to try more movies and music to tune it a bit more but at initial setup with the Yamaha YPAO auto setup it is musically seamless integration with the 8060. Can't wait to really turn it up to see how much I can feel the bass when watching a movie. For the price this is a great middle ground of the def tech subs and the size is perfect. All their subs are great for their size.

I am using this with a 5.1 set up including two floorstanding 9060's up front which also have subwoofers built into them.
When everything is working properly and tuned this subwoofer sounds fantastic and really gets nice lows that are missing from the two front towers (those really act more like heavy mids anyway)
The reason I have given it 4 stars instead of 5 is because after about a month or less of use, there is a really annoying vibrating noise coming from the cabinet. It does not sound like it is a blown speaker and when investigating it sounds more like there is something inside that the woofer may be vibrating against or maybe loosened up. It drove me crazy because it sounded like something vibrating in my living room and I tried to track it down just in case it was not from the sub. After not having luck tracking it down I determined it had to be this speaker, so I took it down to best buy so they could hook it up to their audio room and confirm what I thought.
Sure enough it was a bad unit and they happily ordered me a new one to replace this one. I haven't gotten that replacement yet, but I feel pretty confident that it will sound much better.
Aside from audio quality I really like the size of this thing. I have it sitting behind our sofa (I ran a subwoofer line in the wall to the receiver media panel up front) and it barely takes up any space at all.
Overall I am very happy with this subwoofer and will likely change the rating to 5 stars once the new one arrives and gets some decent use.

I have a large room that is open on two sides and my 400 watt Klipsch didn't give me the punch I was looking for. I read may articles on running dual subs and wont try to repeat what is already well documented. I ought the sub, tunes it to my space and was not disappointed. At half volume this sub shakes the house. It's has power and settings if subs twice twice cost. The remote makes tuning the sub simple.

I have seen and heard a lot of Subwoofer's that were bigger than this one that cost just as much. The Definitive Technology puts Quality first. It is small and does not take up much space but don't let the size fool you. I guess big things do come in small packages at times. Not only is the bass hitting but the sound quality is just awesome. Don't let the price scare you because quality is worth paying for.

Bought the SC4000 for my family room, sounds great and good base from 8" powered sub. Only problem I had was that my room is 20' x 26 feet with 10' ceilings. The SC4000 sounded great but I returned for the SC6000 just so I had a little more rumble in my large room.

Purchased this sub to round out the rest of my definitive tech speakers. I have the BP9020 with built in subs but wanted a little more touch, replaced an old Onkyo sub. At first could not get sub to work and was contemplating returning. After a phone call with customer service and adjusting settings on my pioneer AV the sub came to life. Now on low volume I get subtle bass when needed and with volume increased such as movies this thing is a beast. So glad I pulled the trigger and even happier that I got on sale really worth every penny.

I bought this as a 2nd sub because of its size (and listed capabilities) to place in a corner to balance the bass in my room.
To a casual listener it sounds great and digs pretty deep— especially in the corner, but with more critical listening you realize how boomy it is. I’m not a fan of boomy subs, so I returned this and got an SB-2000 instead. It’s bigger but so much better.
Still like the sub over all though, it just wasn’t right for my specific use case
