Definitive Tech Supercube 4000

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitive Tech recommended setting my Def Tech 8060 towers and center channel to large to get the best sound out of my new Supercube 4000. My system sounded too " boomy"that way. So I set my center channel speaker and towers to small and lowered the crossover until I got it just right. The new sub with the remote was the easy part.

Loud, impactful, sloppy

I have a difficult room acoustically - 14 ft cathedral ceilings and an open floor plan, also don't want a speaker system to be the focal point, so the small size of this sub attracted me, as did the sub-sonic performance (not many subs go below 20 hz). The loud pounding during loud special effects was impressive, but during quiet periods, just dialogue, there was an underlying low bass presence that was excessive and unnatural. I returned it, accepted the laws of physics, and am now using 2 subwoofers, 10" drivers, 300 watt amps, ported, and am getting beautiful, precise low bass performance.
