Bought this sub to replace a recently dead Polk Audio sub. Honestly this is a good sub if you look at it from the size/output perspective, however it didn't meet my needs/requirements as far as bass delivery. The final nail in the coffin was while watching Wonder Woman 1984 - by the time I got to the 1.25 hour mark, this sub was cutting out badly. It just couldn't deliver the bass level I want for a consistent, extended amount of time. I cannot spend $800 on an item and feel disappointed, so I returned it and bought an SVS PB4000 - I guess that subwoofer is what I need for my home theater/bass delivery requirements.

    Huge Bass, Little Box!

I'm a home theatre geek and audiophile. Excellent audio is a must, whether it's for home theatre or 2-channel audio. Recently we remodeled our living room and did the whole TV above the fireplace thing. Since I've already got a dedicated home theatre, one of the prerequisites for the living room was space saving for everything! My wife wasn't about to let me install a 5.1 system, and I'm not about to rely on our flat screen tv's audio either. So, we met in the middle with the agreement that we'd have a sound bar with a seperate sub as long as it wasn't a ridiculously massive sub like my two Power Sound Audio XV-30se' in my theatre. I've never been a big fan of the little box sub concept either. The audio gurus will tell you it's simple physics (if there is such a thing) that in order to get truly deep bass down to 20hz or below, you need the appropriate "box space" to move that much air and to reach subsonic frequencies. With all that being said, I had quite the challenge ahead of me! I don't like sound bars and until recently I didn't like small box subs. I want a true surround sound experience that can hit the audible sound spectrum from 20hz-20Klhz. So, I bought the B&K Panorama 2 and the Def Tech 4000. I was simply astounded that the Def Tech could hit such low frequencies with authority! I haven't actually measured just how low this little guy can go just yet, but based off first impressions and being able to tweak this sub with its handy little remote control, I was simply blown away. My room size is 3400 cubic feet, and this Def Tech 4000 can pressurize it with little to no effort. It's beyond me how it can do this. The build quality is fantastic as well. It's not for those that have pets, as I can imagine how inviting it would be to a cat, with its all sides material wrapped box. But that's the only draw back I can think of. This is the best sub you're going to find for $1000 or under. I'm very satisfied on all fronts with the performance of this subwoofer!

I was really excited for this purchase, I have 2 of the 800’s and I thought this would be a MONSTER step forward. I was so wrong. This sub let me down in almost every way. I had to turn it up past halfway to get any life from it, and then when it gets going all it did was clip. So that monster step I was talking about, was a step backwards. I took it back the same day.

    EARTHQUAKE!!!

I've had this sub for a year and I am overall pleased. The remote, along with the digital display, is super handy. Being able to tune the phase to your seating position makes a HUGE difference in sound. I like the different EQ settings as well. It does make a difference when watching a movie or listening to music. I don't turn this sub up too loud so I can use the EQ1 setting witch gives you lower lows. When I do turn it up loud, I just leave the EQ off. I usually have the volume up to 10 and up to 16 when I really want to shake the house. It goes up to 40 but there really is no need to go that high. This is the first sub that I've paid over $150 for and there is no comparison in sound, volume and quality. However, there does seem to be some lacking in the upper hz range. I have a car with a factory sound system and I can feel the bass in this upper range, but with this sub it seems to be a little weak, but this is noticeable when playing music. For movies, this sub makes the earth shake and shatters molecules. No complaints there. There were a few times, when I first got this, that I got some distortion when watching a movie but this sub is so tuneable that I've never had that problem again. I realize that this is not a high end sub so this will not have the sound or impact of a high end sub. However, it doesn't have the huge price of one nor take up a giant amount of space either. All in all, this is a fantastic sub for the money. I thoroughly enjoy it and love its features. I was going to get the sc2000 but I am glad I went for the extra features with the sc4000.

    Tough little sub

Bought from BB Magnolia. Auditioned the Supercube 2000 for about a week then blindly ordered the 4000. Initial impression : goes very low and is very loud, especially given the 8" driver. I currently have the sub paired with some powerful Polk towers (with built in subs) and the sc 4000 could easily over take the towers. My set up is in a tiny bedroom currently and I have to keep the sc turned down most of the way. Turned up it will pressurize this little room. I cannot wait to set this up in a bigger area my expectation is that it will fill up nicely. My recommendation is buy this speaker and keep it in the open to show off. It sounds great a looks prettier than any sub I have ever seen. A side note : This is not a bedroom sub. On the contrary it needs room to breath. I'm certain the sc 4000 will fill most living rooms and satisfy most audio enthusiasts. Maybe a select few will wanna consider the sc 6000 and up but I really dont know many homes, vaulted ceilings being the exception, that would need it.

I upgraded my sub and it was a great move. It has fantastic sound especially during movies and sports. The sound is crisp and fills the room. I'm happy with the upgrade. The remote control is programmed through my Harmony remote so I can control the up and down without leaving the couch. Can't say enough of how much I love this sub.

It took a little bit of time to optimize this subwoofer for my room, but once I got it right, it sounded incredible. Very low and realistic bass. Just keep in mind the demo at a store is not realistic to your at home environment. . Very tight bass. Plays loud. Very small footprint.

This subwoofer is freakin' awesome!!! You go to the movies and feel all the bass surround you. Well, this allows the same thing right in your home. This is an excellent match with my Mirage OS3 speakers. I get the crispness and clarity of the speakers, and the clean power from the subwoofer.
