My first def-tech speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First let me start off by saying I have never had decent speakers in my life.....the best I ever had was a JVC box system...lol.....OK now the speakers......before I bought these I did sooo much research on speakers it made my head spin but I always came across someone or a review about how great deftech's were I finally went to best buy to give them a listen....before I even went I pretty much settled on the 8060's but also wanted to listen to the 8040's just to compare.Well after hearing both I got the 8060's.....plus the 20hrz compared to the 8040's 25hrz made a big difference.....the 8060's sounded great in the showroom but once I got them home and hooked them into my new pioneer receiver I was floored. It took me a good day too place them right and get all the settings in the receiver right for them to shine but once I did....WOW.I have been watching bluerays all day with these speakers and the smile on my face is priceless...lol....these do put out insane bass so be careful if ya have neighbors....hehe....and I'm by no means an audio file but I know great sound when I hear it and these badboy's deliver.....if you can pick them up....you will not regret it....just be patient in the setup and read you receiver manual....a little time and you will be floored by these....take care, Josh

A fantastic buy for upgraded sound quality!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE these speakers! I auditioned the 8060 at a Magnolia Home Theater Center/Best Buy. I was deciding between the Bowers & Wilkins CM9, the Martin Logan EM-ESL, and the Def Tech 8060s. I auditioned each of these for over an hour, using my own music/movie. In the end the best choice was the Def Tech 8060s. The EM-ESL were thrown out after the first listen (I did not like these at all!). So the choice was between the CM9 and the 8060. I went back and forth for over an hour between these 2, throwing everything I could at them. In the end the CM9 sounded great, but they always sounded like the music was coming from "over there" where the speaker was sitting. The 8060 gave me a more expansive sound stage, making it feel like the actual performer was right in front of me and the sound was all around me (due to the biopolar output). So, the 8060 outperformed those other speakers which were also priced higher than these (the EM-ESL speakers are about the same price but slightly higher, and the CM9 was $1000 more). Once I got them home they sounded just as good as in the store. The only downside (even though I don't consider it one) is that I feel with these built in powered subs, I don't think they are as much base as adding a standard normal external sub to a pair of speakers. However, these speakers still put more than more base for me than I will ever need and the added bonus was that I did not have to buy speakers and then an additional sub. Overall I would strongly recommend these speakers to anyone looking to buy a more upgraded/refined speaker. These are definitely worth every penny!

Perfect for Home Theater Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 2 towers to complement my 8060 center and surrounds ( two 8040 BPs and two DI 5.5 BPS). I spent several months researching the perfect speakers for my man cave. Spent several hours at local BB. I also considered the Martin Logan (Electromotion ESL and Motion 40) and the B&W towers(CM series) . But the def tech 8060 towers blow away the competition. If you want bass, you will not be disappointed because each speaker has a built in sub-woofer. When used with my pioneer SC-61 , the primary purpose which is to watch movies , it is a theater experience. I have found no cons with the speakers so far. Probably the best towers in this price category. They are really sleek and eliminate the need for 2 separate sub-woofers( mine is a 7.2). When used for music the towers sound equally good with the bipolar effect being put to good use. In summary the speakers are worth every dollar spent.

AWESOME SPEAKERS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a total freak about my music.. I have to say these speakers are AWESOME. I was making a game room/man cave in my vaulted ceiling 10x25 living room. Already had Polk and Klipshe floor standing speakers and a sub. A total of 4 speakers with my Denon receiver. I wanted more bass and modern looks so I went to Best Buy and loved the Martin Logan and the BW looks..But, the 8060 speakers blew them out of the water with sound quality...I actually only have the (2) 8060's now in my living room and have moved the 4 other speakers to other parts of my house.. Remind you this is a huge open room with vaulted ceilings and I am a hip hop/rap/bass type of lister who also doesn't want drowning of lyrics or distortion or just a bass fest...These are frigin awesome...You hear every aspect of every beat and lyric...UNBELIEVABLE SOUND and you can control the bass on the rear for you r more subtle listeners...lol

Tremendous find!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After trying for years to replace my 20+ year old DCM speakers, I finally happened upon the first speakers that I thought I could be happy with. As much as I thought my old speakers were transparent and detailed, the 2060s blew me away. I've only had them for a day; I am discovering my cd collection all over again. Drum brushes sound like drum brushes, and high hats sound like high hats!!! Vocals sound like you are at an intimate concert; what more can I say? You will never regret buying these!

Best speakers for the money and a lifetime
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know they are expensive but you will no doubt have these speakers for a lifetime. Built in subwoofers for great bass. The bipolar sound gives you the best all around sound. Great for watching movies and sports. The sound is amazing it feels like you are right there. Even if you went with the BP8040s or BP8020s the sound its prefect. Ask for a demo from a sales rep like it did. These will blow your mind.

Awesome Sound!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers are awesome! They have a built in sub-woofer which puts out amazing sound. Went to Best Buy looking for bookshelf sized speakers but when we heard these we were hooked. We love music and the clarity that these speakers put out even with the bass on high (love my bass!) is amazing. Don't let the 'bi-polar' label scare you off, that is what makes these so great - music pours out from all directions.

Amazing clarity and bass
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers make movies and music feel like you are right there in the studio. They have incredible power and the bass is insane. There is absolutely no need for a second sub when you have these puppies rockin.

Great Speakers - Worth the $$$
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitive speakers sound incredible and Definitive knows it! While it would be great to have spent a little less money on speakers, I have to say these were so worth it. I have a pair of the 8060 set up in our living room, one on each side of the TV. We use them a lot for surround sound for Movies, TV shows, and Sports. A center channel speaker is a must, but needs to be well match to the towers. In my experience, a sub is just not necessary as the towers have powered subs in them. (When I was looking at them in the store, the in store set up did not have the subs connected - I sort of took a chance on these speakers as I did not hear them in the store with subs connected. But was not disappointed once I got them home.) All in all these are a great pair of speakers, sound great - you will not be disappointed.

unbelievable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these speakers at magnolia home theater and brought them home and was amazed at the qualty of sound, the bi polar sound was fantastic. The subwoofers in each speaker are just awsome, you do not need a seperate subwoofer with these. Absolutely fill the room with earth shaking sound. They are expensive but well worth it. Sounds better than being in a theater

Worth every single penny
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a proud Bose owner till I start thinking to make my basement home theater, took a audition of couple of brands at magnolia,, my imagination was broken that time. I heard this super towers rocking and i was so impressed, considering price this was still not in range, but with great BB deal I ended up buying a package deal for 2000 contains two BP-8060ST, 2 SR-8040HD and center CS-8040HD. I am watching the movies from my collection and enjoying like never before.. this ST are dialed in at 12 o clock position and still making me feel awesome bass without disturbing baby upstairs.. sweet spot for this Bipolar technology is awesome, it really widen up the stage and you can actually feel the movie while watching..... really really happy with my decision and purchase ,,,,,,specially feel awesome when wife even notice the difference between my two systems ..... and last week we had a movie night,, i received lot compliments from the guests....

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers are amazing to say the least! I'd say there's a reason that BestBuy has them as the default speakers playing in their Mangnolia center.

Awesome Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great set of speakers! Replaced a pair of Polk Tsi300 towers, obviously a big upgrade to Definitive. Highs are crystal clear and bass is just right; currently have set just shy of 1/2 gain. I have had them past " break in" period and they continue to amaze. With built in amp you don't need a lot of watts from receiver, nice feature. Also comes with carpet spikes and softer plastic ends for wood floors. DefTech all the way!

Excellent Purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased open box ST8060's after hearing them in the theater room at Best Buy. I had purchased the Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 system about a year earlier and it was lacking some of the "punch" I was hoping to achieve with my home theater system. After about a month of reading reviews, I decided to purchase the ST8040's. However, after comparing the 8040's to the 8060's in the theater room at Best Buy, my decision changed. The ST8060's have a crisp and full sound that fills a room with ease. The ST8040's sound great but the sound is not as robust as that produced by the 8060's. Thus, I chose the ST8060's. My room at home is larger than the Theater room at Best Buy, yet the 8060 continued to perform just as well as it had in the store. These speakers are a great purchase and I would recommend the item to a friend.

Awesome speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers fill the room with so much sound it is simply amazing. The enclosed powered and passive subwoofers are enough that I was able to retire my paradigm subwoofer. The ability to hear the smallest sounds with such clarity is fabulous.

Huge Upgrade. Will Never Go Back.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Prior to purchasing these 8060's, I had a standard Polk Audio System (Bookshelves). The system sounded okay at the time and was able to get loud, but we all know that is not what audio is about. After setting these up, I threw on the carpet spikes which really helped set them up in the theater room. Instantly, I heard a huge difference. The High's were soothing to my ears and the mids were able to capture all of the sounds I was not hearing before with increased clarity. The Lows with the built in 10" subwoofers really helped capture scenes from movies as well as give the actual sound of the bass guitar in many of my favorite songs. The opening scene to the Dark Knight shined with these. I loved them so much that I purchased the 8060 Center channel and 8080 Surrounds to match the system. I am using an Onkyo 818 Receiver to push this system, rated at 135 watts per channel and it is perfect. I will never go back. To any person who is into audio that doesn't want to spend the money, Def Tech will be 1000x better than a Klipsch system. Forever a fan of Def Tech.

perfect speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought the 8040 model after trying it out i was not impressed with the punchy bass it had. so i got these with the 10 inch woofer. much better bass. sounds more like surround bass with good reverb in the low tones unlike the 8 inch woofer which has les bass more punch to the tones. overall this speaker has good highs great mids and great lows. alot of your uncompressed sound will depend on your hdmi cord i noticed when i bought the audioquest cord the sound improved the cord i was uding before was a belkin hdmi cord i also tried a walmart monsterhdmi cord that had less quality picture then the belkin cord. the 8060 speaker is a great speaker if you want to make sure your low sounds are going to be right where you want them . the 20hz low frequency makes a difference as compared to the 8040 that has 25 hz lows. i like the larger 4.5 inch midrange speakers over the 3.5 inch midrange speakers they seem to pull more sound out of the movie, for a more "cinnimatic" experience. well worth paying the extra money to upgrade from the 8040's.

Immersive and envelopes you
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are the premiere speakers for any home theater system. Can you spend more, yes, do you need to, no. We are movie nuts. Epson 3020 projector 2D/3D, 120" screen, DT 8060 towers, A60 Atmos, 8040 side and rears, DT pro center, Klipsch Synergy 12" sub. Place sub behind furthest seat, subs built into front towers. You can feel punches, gun shots, and impact bass all the while crystal clear mid/highs without overpowering volume. High quality product, highly recommended.

Great speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers have great sound. They are very sleek looking but still take up the same space as the old large speaker boxes ( they need to be so far from the wall due to the speakers being 3 sided).
