Customers appreciate the 15.6" Inspiron Notebook's touchscreen, performance, and ease of use. Many also highlight the value for the price and sufficient RAM and hard drive storage. However, some find the laptop to be heavier than expected, and the lack of a CD drive is a drawback for certain users. The battery life and design also receive positive feedback.

It's ok
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's pretty much OK. Touch screen is dumb, but otherwise, yeah.

Quality problems on two computers. Gave up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought one, had technical problems and Dell told me to take it back. Got another in exchange and it would not power on. Best Buy checked it and took it back. Offered another but I gave up on Dell.

Worst Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this computer for 2.5 years as a back up. I have spent more time resetting it back to factory settings than on any computer I've owned. Windows 8 was okay, but slow; windows 10 has crashed this computer many times. Now I can't even reset it back to factory settings with a usb drive. It is a dead computer. Would never buy this or a Dell product again. Oh, and am probably dropping Windows altogether due to Microsofts' sloppy and careless release of Windows 10 and deadly updates.

Poor keyboard visibility and touch pad problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never had a keyboard that was so hard to see. Even with direct light on the board and the back light on it is poor. The touch pad is too touchy. Just a quick brush of the pad will send the cursor flying randomly over the page if you are typing text. I would never recommend this unit or buy it again.

Difficult Computer to Use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The touch pad material is very rough and uncomfortable to use. Windows 8 is the worst OS to date. Finding things takes forever AND chrome loaded very strangely making it difficult to use. I should have taken this back before my 30 days was up....sigh. I really hate this laptop and OS.

Returned with 48 hours
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer quit working after 24 hours and it was beyond Geek resources to repair. This was to be my third Dell, but I ended up exchanging it for a Lenova.

Phenomenal value for money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading the other reviews on this website, I was a little apprehensive about whether or not to purchase this laptop. The other reviews seemed rather hit or miss, especially with the other models in this series. Thus far, I have had none of of the other issues or complaints other people mentioned. In my opinion this is a phenomenal laptop. The design is sleek and modern, but not outlandish or cheap feeling. It is also fairly light compared to other laptops I looked at. Unlike the 14" 7000 series, this model has plenty of ports on both side. True, there is no VGA port, but purchasing an adapter is easy enough, especially if you plan on connecting to external monitors like I do. For me, not having a disk drive is not an issue and I don't think it should be a reason not to buy this laptop. I do not use the touch screen very much, mostly just the track pad. The track pad is extremely responsive, perhaps overly so, but again not a significant issue; it actually makes the transition from typing to clicking easier than using the touchscreen. Overall this product is also incredible value, top rating processor, screen resolution, size, etc all for a great price. From a service perspective, the employees were also extremely helpful. The helped me pick out the laptop and when the informed me they were out of stock, they immediately reminded me that they had a model that a customer had returned early that week (nothing was wrong with it) for a significantly cheaper price. As soon as I bought this laptop, I knew I had not regrets; it felt great using it. Quality product.

Glad we're starting to see quality Windows laptops
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just received the Dell 7000 15-7537 yesterday which I bought for my wife. I tried to steer her towards an ultrabook (I have the Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch and it is the best PC I've ever owned), but she didn't like the smaller screens and keyboards. She wanted something more substantial. All the PC manufacturers seem to be going smaller and sleeker, but if you want to buy a straight up laptop the pickings are pretty poor. So I set out to find a laptop with: - touchscreen - haswell CPU - 15" screen - (at my wife's request) 10 key numerical pad on keyboard - ideally <£1,000 My first choice would have been a Lenovo - my last 2 PCs have been Lenovos and they are just great. In the UK, however, they don't seem to yet offer a 15" haswell laptop other than their gaming rig (not a good choice for my wife). After much looking, I landed on this Dell. First off, let me say that at the end of the search process and some grueling trials in getting the laptop and getting it dialed in I am *very* pleased. Exceeded my expectations and I'm loving this machine. Here are some notes along the way. - Dell's anti-fraud team is atrocious. I recently relocated to the UK from the US and tried to buy the PC initially with our US card but have it shipped to our UK address. This somehow tripped their fraud sensors and the order was silently cancelled with no notification. When I noticed and phoned them up, they were asking for my passport, proof of address, work email address, home land line number, etc. That was crazy - I'm buying a laptop not a nuclear warhead. So I just said screw it and ordered again with my wife's email address and our UK card. Worked great that time. - The delivery ETA on their site is a blatant lie. I ordered on 22 Oct and the page said ETA to arrive was 25 Oct. Then immediately after purchase it changed to 8 Nov. And along the way there was very little status. I kept wondering if it was actually going to come. - The PC did arrive on time on 8 Nov. now onto the machine - Build quality is very nice - much nicer than I expected from pictures and reviews. Feels like a premium PC, more like an Lenovo business class or MacBook pro than the Dells I'm used to. - The screen is gorgeous. I went for the full HD and am really glad. The resolution is great, windows scales reasonable to it, and the touch works flawlessly. It's also very very bright. - The keyboard is fine. I worried that it would be lousy, but it's just fine. I prefer my Lenovo keyboard, but this Dell is just fine. My wife is even pickier than I am about keyboards and she had no problems either. - The trackpad is actually very nice. It has an intelligent palm detector so the cursor doesn't dance when you type (your right palm naturally lies on the trackpad). I also bemoan the loss of physical mouse buttons (like I have on my beloved Lenovo), but I've found this one to be just fine. Click and drag, right click, etc all work great. I personally hate windows gestures on a trackpad (esp. when you have the touchscreen) so I disabled them, but two finger scroll and pinch-zoom work well. - The 10 key pad is actually really great. This makes me jealous. - The audio is good quality and reasonably loud. I wish it were a bit louder, but it's OK. Watching movies in bed is great, but if you want to play music while folding laundry and the kids are running around it's not loud enough - need to research a good Bluetooth speaker for my wife for this scenario. - The jury's a bit out on the battery. I haven't done a full rundown yet, and the indicator dances around too much to be credible. Sometimes it will say I have 8 hours left on a full charge and other times it will say 4 hours. Depends on how hard you push it. I have noticed that if you select the Dell power option it seems to do better than the balanced option I typically select. They must have dialed some things in. - No optical drive. My wife had some anxiety here, even though she hasn't used hers more than once or twice in the past year. I bought her an external drive and she was happy with that solution. - The hard drive is a dog. In task manager if you're ever slow you will see the I/O at 99% - it really is the bottleneck of the system. It is plenty fast for what my wife wants to do (facebook, email, Netflix), but it would drive me crazy. I'll upgrade to SSD when 1TB drives get reasonably cheap. *Software* I'm a big fan of windows 8, and I dialed in my wife's Microsoft account, SkyDrive, Xbox Music, office 365, etc. It's actually pretty slick, you get 60 hours a month of free streaming music from Xbox music (basically all you can eat of any artist/track - not like Pandora, just basically iTunes catalog for free with the caveat that you can't download the song). And with o365 we got 60 minutes of Skype worldwide phone calling a month free. It's pretty cool. Impressively little bloatware. I'm typically prone to just wipe the hard drive and start with a pristine copy of windows to avoid all the free trials, junk software, and all the stuff in the systray. Pleasant surprise on the Dell, it had little stuff there and was easy to remove what I didn't want (e.g. Dell Backup - I use Carbonite and recommend it or Mozy or other cloud backup software to folks) Also, for the love of all things good, uninstall McAfee. It's redundant and slows everything down. *Drivers* Oh man I had a headache here. I updated to windows 8.1 and then the machine stopped waking from sleep (or responding when the screen went off). I redownloaded drivers, futzed in the bios, messed with the power options, and nothing. I finally contacted Dell and they said it was a known issue and they had just released new drivers for windows 8.1 and a bios update. This solved my problems. So a bit of a process getting things dialed in, but I'm happy and most of all my wife is happy.

Great computer for a student
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop over 5 days ago and before buying it I did a lot of research on what laptop to buy. I saw that the main complain about this laptop was the the flex and the lack of key travel on the keyboard. But after using this laptop for a while I got used to the keyboard and does not feel as bad as others reported it. Although it will take some time to get used to the trackpad especially the clicking since it is a multi gesture pad. This laptop has a good processor and the screen resolution is good.

good in theory but major functions fail
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am on my second Dell 7000 Inspiron in three weeks and plan to return yet again. I got the computer because it offers a lot for the price, but I have had some major issues. After a few days the webcam was not being recognized by the computer. It kept telling me to connect a webcam even though there is a built in. At the same time, the touch screen simply stopped working. I did not accidently change any settings! I restored factory settings and nothing improved. I returned the laptop for another only to have more function fail within days. The scroll function on the mousepad stopped working on the second computer. Again, I did not change any settings and had barely used the laptop. Initially, everything worked fine with both laptops, but failed within days. I am currently trying to find another option. I like everything else about this laptop but I would be a fool to simply return this for yet another. If I did not experience these issues, my only complaint would be the mushy keyboard. It is difficult to type for long periods of time and easy to miss keys. The quality control seems poor on the keyboards as the backlit and keys were different on both computers I received. If you buy this laptop make sure to use it and check out all the functions multiple times before your return time runs out! I wish I did not have these issues because I really want to like this computer.

Looking Forward to better days with W8
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dell hardware is good build quality and lightweight. The Touch Screen is useful for W8 but downgrades display quality if you are picky about that. Worst hardware feature is the obscure key labels. I am a hunt and peck typist and I need a bright lamp to see the key labels because they are made to back-light but the back-light is too dim to see in sunlight. If you buy an external DVD/CD drive you will have to buy software to run it. W8 does not have support for video drives and Dell does not include one either. W8 is really just a mobile style shell over W7, so I mostly drop to desktop and use W7 to install programs I use and to have the Windows capability. I use the mobile style Start Screen for things like weather, news, etc. Examble, you can install Adobe PDF viewer on the start screen but then you can ONLY look at the PDF. If you drop to desktop (I use CHROME) and install ADOBE there you can open it in a Window like always and access another program (ie: Excel) also. The Windows HOME store is the worst. It does not have a lot of the well known apps but it is full of false front apps. Example, if you want the app for IMDb and search for that you get several, but NONE are from IMDb-just fake fronts. Same for YouTube, GMail, you name it. Be very careful what you install from the HOME store. -purchased March 2014 in local BB store (great sales service!) - home and small business user via Excel/Word/Quicken

Very Suave
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a LOT of research when looking for a new laptop to replace my old Dell Studio. I really like the longevity of Dells so I looked more into these than any others. I compared this one to HP's 15". I liked HP's but heard a lot of bad stuff about HP's life-span and I personally knew Dell makes them to last #had my old one for about 5 years and other family members had theirs for longer#. My old Dell was pretty hefty so getting this I was amazed with the lightness of it while still feeling sturdy and well-built. I tried out the 17" of this series and the screen was bigger than I needed and it was a bit heavy. I switched to this one and I absolutely love it. The screen is very responsive, took a while to get used to the keys but now they're pretty awesome. The touchpad is very responsive. As far as performance, it's AWESOME. So much faster than I'm used to. So far, I have no qualms about it.

Not for Games; Not for Editters
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DISPLAY: The color are not that real than a real monitor and for some reason, the color look like small blocks BATTERY: The battery is long if you set it correctly NOTE: some settings need to be adjusted as my HDD kept running while the computer is sleeping WEIGHT: The weight is not like ultrabook and the height is not as thick like other computers

Good laptop for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Reading others reviews who have had problems, I guess I'm not seeing those issues. Some mention that it's a bit slow but I swapped out my HD for a Solid State Drive and I can be surfing in 30 seconds from a cold boot (and that includes me logging in!). I actually just swapped my SDD from my old laptop into this laptop and let Windows 8.1 do the rest and I was up and running in no time. I did however delete all the device drivers that were not in use and made sure I downloaded and installed all the drivers from Dell that go with the laptop. I'm finding that the mouse pad is decent and better than my old laptop. I also like the touch display and finding that I use it more than I thought I would. Overall, I'm happy with it and would recommend it.

This is one of the best laptop I have owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased this laptop from BestBuy around 8 months back. I have updated this laptop from WIndows 8 to 8.1. Although windows has few issues like invisible charms bar, gesture dependent action etc. Which might take time to learn. But if you learn then none of them are issues. I have created couple of review videos which are edited using same laptop. Its fast. Go for Full HD and NVIDEA Graphics version. I am definitely recommend this laptop. If you are more interested in portability then go for 14 inch laptop. Great laptop...minus the speakers.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have taken this computer back twice now in the last three days, with the same problem every time. I am in love with everything about this laptop...except the speakers! Not only are they not loud enough to hear over a tower fan on the lowest setting 10 feet away (ridiculous), within 15 minutes of setting up the first one, the speaker blew (left side)...with the volume at 88%!!!! I took it back to my closest Best Buy hoping it was a one time thing and maybe it was just the video I was playing...no such luck. With the next one i decided to turn the audio settings down with the Dell Audio Software to avoid blowing another speaker, so much so that I had to concentrate to hear the dialogue in the movie, but still the speaker blew again (this time the right side). Im writing this on the last one I intend on trying. If I blow another speaker im afraid Dell will be losing a long time customer and fan.
