Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the 15.6" Inspiron Notebook's touchscreen, performance, and ease of use. Many also highlight the value for the price and sufficient RAM and hard drive storage. However, some find the laptop to be heavier than expected, and the lack of a CD drive is a drawback for certain users. The battery life and design also receive positive feedback.

Bought this for our company controller to use as a main PC. He uses it at work during the day with a 27" dual monitor setup, then takes it home at night to use as a laptop. Seems plenty fast in all the Microsoft Office programs, web browsing and online apps.

    Overall Good

I bought this laptop on Feb 2nd and by Feb 24 the laptop could not detect the charger. I called Best Buy and they said I was past my 15 day return and told me to call Dell. I called Dell, lone and behold, the motherboard was busted. For a laptop that I just bought a less then three weeks ago this was totally stupid (Best Buy get back to the 30 day refund). Moral of the story do not buy a laptop from Dell, since they implement charger recognition. Wish Best Buy would have mentioned that Dell did this with their laptops before I bought one, I would have bought the laptop from HP instead. So far all the touchscreen laptops I have bought from Best Buy have both been duds 2 for 2. That's terrible.

    Beautiful and Fast

Admittedly a new computer. A trade-up from a smaller, 14" Lenovo that had a washed out screen with mediocre resolution. The Dell 7000 15" has a fabulous screen resolution, much faster processing speed (i7) than the Lenovo (i5), numeric keypad, and the Dell is gorgeous to look at. The Dell was only $200 more than the Lenovo. Sometimes it pays to pay a bit more for a laptop.

Price a little high - Works Great

Overall this seems to be a great computer. It has performed well, especially since I upgraded the video driver. Before that it would freeze once the screen saver mode was active, forcing a reboot. Keys are brushed nickel in color with dim, white illumination. Even with illumination set to max the lighting is dim. Would of preferred black keys with white lights or maybe a red illumination to gain more contrast.

    Keyboard is HORRIBLE

The keyboard on this laptop isquite horrible. In particular, the spacebar. It needs to be hit exactly in its center, in addition to being hit hard, in order for it to register a keystroke. It will often not register if not hit in its "sweet spot", resulting in text looks likethis withouta space. If you plan on using the laptop without an external keyboard, don'tbother and go with a different model. The left andright mouse button areas ofthe touch pad are also difficult to discern. There is no way to tactilly determine which half your finger is over. Otherwise, the general performance and screen are fairly good.

Bought, defective out of the box, returned

I bought this May 2 and ended up returning it the next day. I am somewhat a power user and let me tell you, I am thankful there is a 14 day policy for returns, otherwise I would have slammed my head on a wall. Out of the box it looked great. It was a bit heavy, but looked sturdy. Started up the computer and thats where it all turned south. Took forever to install, took forever to start up apps and just lagged. I ended up exchanging with a Toshiba i7... it was the same price and you get a few more features on the Toshiba that the Dell didn't have. maybe I got a lemon but my prior Dells all had problems..

Fast, powerful, but touch pad is unusable

Some don't like the keyboard, but I think it's ok. The real problem is the touch pad is so sensitive that you're always selecting stuff that you don't want and have to do things like delete emails 3 or 4 times. I can't always use a mouse, especially during travel..

As an IT employee, I knew what I wanted in a computer. I've been very dissatisfied with the speed and wifi connectivity of the computer. I'm trying to return it as we speak.

    Nothing but problems

I have had this laptop for 2 weeks and i have had problems since day one. After a minute or two of non use the screen goes black and there is nothing i can do get it to work. When it does go back up it sometimes asks me to reboot. For having an i7 processor this computer is very slow. The magnification chnages on its own and sometimes i can barely see what is on the screen. Other times the wriiting is too large. The touch pad is not great. Very frustrating. I am returning this laptop.

Really a bummer. I highly don't recommend this computer. Best Buy was great (so far). Hopefully I won't have any issues with return.

Computer turns off all the time

This computer is constantly turning off! Turns right back on but is a pain in the butt! Took back to best buy, and they didn't care. Told me to call dell. I could have bought directly from dell for exact same price, but I chose to go through bestbuy to get personal service, which doesn't exist
