The oled as good as my Samsung ultra 20, way way way better than any led you can get. The construction is really good, and it actually runs cooler than the Asus I had with the same specs, which is surprising because Asus says they use liquid metal.
The problem lies in the software, when you first get this it has a bunch of dell stuff and Alienware stuff. For some reason it makes the gpu underclock it self to 300mhz for no reason. No matter the settings I set bios or other wise, no nvidia settings, or dell settings would fix it. 2 to 5 mins in to a game or benchmark it would drop to 2 fps.
So after I unistalled all the dell and Alienware stuff it worked fine. I ended up getting the Microsoft reinstall tool for windows 10 and formated the hard drive, with deleting all the partition and installed fresh windows.
Now it runs games for hours and the benchmarks no problems. Gets 2937 on single core passmark which is extremely good, that is faster than a stock 8700k desktop. In heaven it gets around 94 fps, which is equal to a 1070 gtx.
So if you want a nice oled best display for a laptop, for 1649 with a last gen desktop power, this is a really good deal if you can reinstall windows.

I had a older XPS 15 that was pretty fast a few years ago but was having trouble keeping up with multiple hi-def video conference calls. I did a bit of research and picked the Dell G7. It's an amazing laptop. Beautiful OLED screen, probably the best computer screen I've very seen. The graphics are incredibly fast, I ran a few benchmarks and it clocked in well about the average gaming PC. I haven't been able to run anything that remotely stressed the six core i7 processor. I'm told it will go to 5Ghz (!) but I've never seen it above 4.6 in task manager. I turned off all the 'Tokyo by night' led lighting and it easily passes for a standard business laptop (which is what I'm using it for). The SSD drive performs well on the benchmarks too. I also like that it's lighter and thinner than most gaming laptops. Two minor complaints. The power supply is 240w and it's a bit over twice the size of my XPS 130w unit - not a deal breaker, just a bit more weight in the backpack. The other is that I use a Dell Thunderbolt/USB-C dock (which I used with my XPS) - every time I boot up with the dock attached I get a bios warning that the dock cannot power the laptop - no way to turn that off - you have to hit continue to bypass it. Again, not a huge deal and I figure that Dell will release a bios update to fix it eventually. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the laptop. It came at a good price with great performance.

*After buying something* Some folks don't take the time to do their due diligence it getting a product fully updated with all the minor fixes that come out after a product has been launched. New products *Always Have Mass Updates* that fix things not seen prior to launch. Needless to say after the correct updates to *Bios* and all the others as well this laptop is the best bang for the buck *NO BRAINER* there is. I do some gaming but mostly for a travel Netflix and entertainment device. This paltop have the best screen I have ever seen ***PERIOD** and the gaming chops are more than expected so don't get fooled by *Would Be* naysayers who don't go all the way to get something right simply becuse they are too lazy to make the needed updates.

This laptop has a lot of awesome feautures and isnt entirely breaking the bank compared to other gaming laptops. The 4k UHD is probably the best feature it has to offer. Not to mention the Nvidia 2070 maxq is a beast of a graphics card. The main issue i have with it is not achieving the full potential of the graphics. Its pretty rare i can get a game to run 4k without having to dumb down the graphics to low without my frames being lower than 30fps. At that point the 4k isnt even worth it. I typically run 2k or just below and average about 70-90 fps which is all im really looking for. All this being said, it is a laptop and thermal throttling is a common issue, so in that respect, the pc is able to reach optimum levels for gaming, and it sure look pretty. Id recommend a desktop for someone looking to truly get into pc gaming and building. But if you want to pc game but dont want the hastle of having to pick out parts and build, this laptop might be the choice for you

It's got a beautiful screen, it performs great, and it's super fast; but you could grill a steak on the keyboard if you don't keep the temperature restrictions pretty aggressive.

Bought this in early 2021, and it arrived sooner than expected. Haven’t had too many problems other than the touch pad seems to be faulty at times. I also tried plugging in a mouse that I use for my desktop and I’ve never had any problems with this mouse before. It didn’t work at all and I tried everything. Tried another mouse, nothing. Hoping it will fix itself but who knows, doubt it. Overall items a great device with an amazing display and bright RGB keyboard. If you plan on spending money on a gaming laptop, I recommend this only if it’s on sale, wouldn’t spend more than $1300 on it.

Screen is amazing! The best laptop I have EVER owned. The OLED screen is the best screen in my house...the colors are so crisp and the blacks are BLACK. Looks so good...and the Alienware software for customization of the lighting is cool too...the graphics card is good. I do wish it had the 30 series Nvidia card instead of the 20...but it is hardly noticeable unless you play a very graphics demanding game, you can make adjustments for each game though, so you get the best bang for your buck. All in all I give this laptop a 8.5 or 9 out of 10. Well worth the investment.

A bit pricey for what it is but the reality is that it is a good option. Not sure how so many people got it to overheat while gaming. I played Metro Exodus for 6 hours straight and never even got hot. Of course i have a high end cooling pad as any gamer with any common sense should have. The display is to die for. Looks great! Give this one a try!

Looks good on paper but as far as gaming the performance is not where it needs to be the CPU and GPU both run at 100% when Running games like warzone, affecting the FPS. Bought this for the hardware and portability will be returning this cause its basically a video laptop... the 4k oled display is nice. But this laptop runs very hot even with the fans at 100%

Bought one of the open box ones and at 1200ish and at that price it's a really good deal for a 4k oled, thunderbolt and 2070MQ. Nice battery too. BUT: The thermal situation is really bad. You need to at the very least to set the fans at full blast and elevate the back of the laptop when you are 3Ding or the CPU is gonna hit 90 degrees and throttle. Pulls about 170 watts at max load. Loud as hell too of course, definitely a headphone laptop, but should be close enough to the PS5 in performance that it will be a good gaming machine for a long time.

It took me over 2 weeks of shopping time for me to finally decide on this laptop model. It is powerful, solid, and most importantly is the screen is very sharp!
I think it is the best value for your money on a desktop replacement. That said, the weight of this laptop is on the heavy side. But, that should not apprehend you from buying this model because it will perform almost anything that you want out of a desk top and sometimes more than a desk top.
Try it out and see for your self. You may try it at your local Best Buy sample floor. I think you will enjoy the features and the slim body and its selling price that Dell has to offer.

Great multi-purpose laptop. I use it for gaming, photo/video editing, and general-purpose computing. Good value/feature ratio. Couple of important considerations:
1. Yes it is loud when the fans kick in.
2. HDR is basically useless on this laptop. It makes everything way too dark and saturated
3. The screen itself also has Samsung-level saturation. If you are editing photos/videos, you have to dive deep into the color profiles to come close to getting a realistic color representation.

Excellent computer. I have it running 3 screens using a Dell dock and it works great. ON its own it has a great screen with the OLED display.
I got an open box Excellent and was surprised to see someone's logon come up when I started it up. BestBuy had not restored the machine to factory setup. I ran the restore, but did not get all of the Dell software including Alienware that should have come with it.
SO a great computer with problems only from the Geek Squad lack of prep.

This is an incredible gaming laptop with the best display I've ever used - just make sure you update all the drivers and install the Alienware Command Center app, if it's not installed already.
I've been able to play Cyberpunk 2077 with raytracing on, Control with all ultra settings and medium raytracing, and Red Dead Redemption 2 on all Ultra settings at 1440p. Heat management is excellent, and none of the surfaces become too hot to touch. Internal temps never go above 80 C.
The build quality is excellent, feels solid but not too heavy. The 4k OLED display is beyond anything I've ever used. Blacks are black, colors pop, and contrast is excellent. The display gets both VERY bright and VERY dark (excellent for use for watching movies in bed), with probably the best viewing angles I've seen on a laptop.
