Dont need to spend extra for alien ware. You can also customize RGB light. Only issue is too big power adaptor and heavy.

The biggest issue was the temps, this thing gets hot while under load, I played FNV modded and it crashed and I had to wait an hour before it would come on again. I did not feel like waiting on Dell to fix it and ruin my chances of returning it so I just got a refund. This laptop will do you fine if you don't plan on heavy gaming or computing but that is a lot to spend on just watching videos or facebooking. Maybe get a lower spec model and it might not overheat.

Thank you for your feedback and review. We are sorry you're having issues with your battery life. Below are steps that can assist with maximizing and troubleshooting any possible issues with your battery.
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Dell finally has a great loptop

Owned for 4 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very bright screen great contrast to see pictures very fast cpu light weight, key board back lite able to see in dim light and has a good feel to the keyboard also very very very sharp graph/ pictures the only problem i have is to figure out how to change images from 3D to normal size, running some programs where the image to fill in is too small only display in center of screen with what ever resolution you set does not change size....could be operator error I will figure it out

No need to game in 4K on anything less 50”. This laptop packs a punch and it’s easily upgraded.

Overheating Laptop

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall graphic is excellent. this laptop is excellent on just watching netflix or video etc. unfortunately, it has a overheating problem. i download and update the firmware and everything is up to date. but still its overheating. im just playing a 2006 game (WOW classic) putting it on a lower graphics and nothing changes. i literally just unplugged the charger so it doesnt overheat but that makes my game run so bad.

If system thermals are of concern, you can prioritize cooling by opening the Alienware Command Center application that came pre-installed with your device and select the 'Cool' thermal profile. Keep in mind that our G7 follows Intel performance design guidelines, which can lead CPU temperatures to reach 100°C to output top in-game performance. We fully warrant the product under these conditions. We do recommend contacting us when you see CPU temperatures rising beyond 100°C on Alienware Command Center.

Its a beautiful machine. The specs are good, This is a gaming computer.. i just wanted a system with good graphics. it stays cool while working and the Alienware colors are phenomenal. Performance is quick...although it did freeze up on me 1 time yesterday. There are no convenience features like touchscreen, fingerprint scanner, or 2 in 1n but Im in trouble and need help renders beautiful colors and speed.

I'm not very "techy" so I can't talk to you about refresh rates. I play sims 4, heavily modded, with graphics on ultra and i use a reshade. This computer handles it well. Much better than my previous gaming computer. It loads quickly but I'm thinking about upgrading the ram since I see there is an option to do that. The colors on this computer are absolutely beautiful. I hope my non techy review helps someone.

I have mostly used it thus far for audio recording and editing, and it processes files very quickly. The quality of the screen is clear and crisp and makes the games I play look really good. Battery life has also been okay so far. I will say it does get very hot if I am running many things at once.
