Customers are saying
Customers praise the G7 15.6" Gaming Laptop's performance, graphics capabilities, and build quality. Many appreciate its price point and the included solid-state drive, although some find the storage capacity limited. However, the laptop's weight and potential for elevated fan noise during use are frequently cited as drawbacks. Battery life is generally considered acceptable, though opinions vary.

Great entry level gaming laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was a great compromise between productivity and gaming for a really low price. The gtx1060 max Q runs a little slower than the regular gtx1060 but is optimized for laptops which allows for a longer battery life and provides added benefits to still being able to use this as a normal productivity laptop for daily tasks. Fan is a little loud when gaming at full settings but I already expected that. Overall a great buy since I also wanted to use solidworks with this machine and it runs the 3d modeling program with no problems. Great computer for the price and features.

Perfect for VR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We used this as the operating laptop for a nationwide tour. It has a simple 7-15 minutes VR engagement that educates the viewer. The speed of the processor coupled with the graphics card makes this an easy choice for VR, specially on the mobile front. Bookmark this as an affordable entry level laptop capable of running your VR experiences and delivering a solid package. We use this with Samsung Odyssey Goggles in an 8ft by 8ft area. While the laptop is heavy when compared to your standard notebook, it is worth its weight in delivering the goods. High five DELL, you get dessert!

Strong gaming laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this one open box (about half off) and was basically new-would recommend this. At that price, can’t beat it. Strong cpu and good mid tier graphics card. Can run Far cry 5 on high easily but runs a little hot. Audio is great. Keyboard and display a little budget. Some displays can be overclocked to higher hertz. Ssd storage but limited to 256gb but easily expandable as there is an extra 2.5 sata slot. Access to this and the Ram is just one screw away-very upgradable friendly. Has a thunderbolt slot too.

Great computer, Amazing price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The specifications for this computer at this price is almost unbelievable. The hardware is great and upgrading is very simple. just one screw on the bottom and both hard drive bays and memory are accessible. The only downside is the computer is heavy, sometimes can feel poorly made (sharp edges!), occasionally runs hot, and the screen quality can be poor during dark scenes in movies or gaming. Overall the price makes up for this and it is a fantastic computer.

Best Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this laptop on a daily bases, my main uses for it are gaming (of course) and school and it works better than I could've ever imagined. While gaming the picture quality is the outstanding and the graphics are very smooth. I have noticed that the fans are a little loud when it's on the more graphic intensive side but I can't hear it over my headset. It pairs to my bluetooth headphones with ease and I watch movies on my TV with it via the HDMI hookup and it works perfectly. Definitely recommend.

Great laptop for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had an associate recommend this laptop for photo editing and it does exactly what I needed it to do, videos and photos load fast and makes editing videos so much easier and faster now that I don’t have to wait forever for a list of photos to load or video to buffer when editing. I’ve always used it for games like Starcraft 2 and it’s the same result, super fast and smooth graphics. Highly recommend for photo/video editing or gaming.

Awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to bang for your buck, you can't beat this computer. i was lucky enough to pick it up during the Memorial day sale so I got an even better price for it than full retail, but all things considered it's truly worth every penny. Pros: -All the ports are easily accessible, and there are plenty of them to boot - three full USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI, SD card, and Ethernet. The keyboard is more than comfortable to type on, the screen is really nice, and folds up to a size that's surprisingly comfortable for a "gaming" laptop. -As far as performance goes, there's SOME lag at points when I'm using the touchpad, but that's only when I have it set to low-performance mode when I'm trying to conserve battery. Otherwise the 6-core processor rips through all tasks with ease, and for my needs 8GB of RAM is more than enough, especially when coupled with a PCI Express SSD card. -Keyboard is very easy to type on, I thought I'd be annoyed by the narrow numberpad on the right but it's surprisingly easy to get used to after using for a few days. -Gaming is really smooth. It's odd to use a 15.6inch laptop when im coming from a 26inch monitor on my PC, but that's just me. -Considering the guts of this machine and how powerful it actually is, I'm really pleased with the portability of it. To comment on some of the negatives: -When the GPU is under heavy load, the cooling fans can definitely get pretty loud, almost to a point of annoyance. I usually find that this is the case when I have a game running and the dedicated GPU is in use (I switch back to the Intel UHD630 integrated GPU when I'm not gaming). -As far as battery life goes, yes, when you're using a "gaming" laptop, battery life is going to suffer. If you're playing a game at full settings, expect to get an hour and change. If you're browsing the internet at full brightness, using the dedicated GPU, & in performance mode, 3+ hours is realistic. I'm generally able to get 5-6 hours out of this battery by turning the brightness down to 20-30%, and turning low-performance mode on (click the battery icon in the system tray and move the slider to the left), which is more than enough for my use. -I personally haven't felt any of the odd creaks/bends/noises that the machine makes when you open/close the lid. Maybe I got a better unit than other people or maybe I'm a bit more gentle with my expensive purchases, but I'm generally happy with my hardware. My only hardware gripe is the size of the bezels around the screen, but for under $1k I can deal with it. -Yes it gets hot. It's a gaming laptop. It has a 6-core processor. It has a dedicated GPU. It's under an inch thin. What did you expect when running your AAA title at "Ultra" graphics settings for 2 hours on a laptop? Side note - and having the ability to do this is a HUGE benefit in my eyes - I'm really happy that there's space in the chassis to add a 2nd hard drive, and the fact that the bottom of the case can be removed pretty easily. I've only had the computer for a month and change, probably a few more months down the line I'll be cracking the case open and adding a 2nd SSD and at least doubling the RAM to 16gigs. All in all, totally worth it, and runs games like a champ when you need it to. Definitely would recommend!

Great gaming laptop!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really great computer! It runs smooth, great 1080 display, and a nice blue keyboard. The only gripes I can say is that you have to make sure you UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS or you wont be able to game on it at all. Also I wish there was more storage but I can get an external or possibly install some more. Other than that it Runs PUBG at a consistent 60 FPS and has enough cpu power to multitask.

Great Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has been good for everything. It has an open HD slot where I added a much larger SSD. The drive it comes with is great for your primary games and work apps. The processor is top notch. The battery lasts 10 hours just surfing. A little more than 2 playing Civ6 with all the graphics turned up. Which is very good. The display is easy on the eyes. It's only drawback is it's not so good in well lit rooms as the screen does not get super bright.

Best budget gaming PC for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very impressed with this laptop so far. Very fast, great cooling fans, and great specs for the price Pros: great specs, good product support, Dell has some helpful software installed (although some unhelpful as well) Cons: Not great build quality when it comes to the shell of the computer. Plastic where most computers use metal. Not necessarily bad, this makes it cheaper than most other competition.

Decent gamer for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far this laptop has been able to run every game I've played. It came with 8gb of RAM and so far I haven't had the need to upgrade to 16gb but I plan to in the future. The 256gb SSD in the M.2 slot meant that there was an open drive bay so I added a 1TB SSD for another $140. I'm really pleased with the way the GeForce 1060 with 6gb has performed.

Great for gaming, good for productivity
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop stays cool during gaming but the fans are loud since this is a very high performance, almost desktop class 45W TDP CPU and 1060 Max-Q. A real gaming desktop delivers more performance for a lower cost than this laptop, but the ability to take it with me around the room or to different buildings is worth it.

Great Balance of Performance and Cost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop, not as a gaming laptop, but to edit photos. Since I needed a fairly quick processor, adequate RAM, and wanted a capable video card, "gaming" laptops were pretty much all that were available. I haven't had any performance or battery life issues, even when editing 92MB RAW files. The fan can get fairly loud, but other than that, it's a great tool.

Very Happy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I researched all gaming laptops that I was going to use for work as well. After reading immensely on all laptops, I finally concluded this one. It’s a gaming laptop with a sosphisticated work look that allows you to bring in public or to a meeting and not get bantered for bringing a spaceship like laptop. Very fast, sophisticated look, great graphics, and overall efficiency.

Does what it needs to do
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll be honest, and say the build quality feels pretty cheap. I’ve had better built laptops. But performance wise, security wise (lots of options in bios) and even sometimes battery wise, this laptop works. It plays games, it stays cool, and it’s my personal portable VR machine so I don’t need to lug my tower around.

Amazing gaming laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought this laptop for portable music usage since it had pretty good processing speed and can handle large MIDI usage since it’s a gaming laptop, but it’s proved to be more than just that. Works like a charm for browsing and the SSD is fast. Unfortunately mine came with only 250SSD space and that goes by fast. Bought an external HDD for space though!

Still rockin!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty powerful machine. It handles multitasking well, plays games at high detail well and runs pretty quiet The hard drive space could be a little bigger but an external handles it well. Only concern is when playing graphic intense games it gets pretty hot but that seems to be the common theme with most gaming laptops and it cools down fast.
