I had problems with the first one, and second one as well. overheating issues. the 3rd one seems ok so far. hopefully it will stay that way. other than that I love the specs on the laptop. and best buy has been a great help with the exchanges.

The Dell G7 is an outstanding value in a gaming laptop. When you look at the features and specs, you would be hard pressed to find another gaming machine that matches this for the price. To begin, the G7 is very well built. It is plastic (like 90% of the laptops out there) but feels very solid. It is a hefty machine. It's design is nice and clean, but nothing very flashy. The blue back lighting for the keyboard is probably it's flashiest feature. The keys themselves feel nice. The screen is very nice as well. I have seen a few reviews claiming the screen isn't bright enough. I really don't agree with that. I find it to be very bright with no hot spots. Color accuracy might be a slight issue for non-gaming use, but not a major issue. The Built in GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card is a powerhouse card. This is really the selling point for this laptop as far as gamers are concerned and it works great. Toss anything you want at it game wise at max settings and it can handle it. Will it be future proof a year from now? Who can tell, but my guess is you will be good to go graphics wise for two or three years. I also haven't found cooling fan noise to be anywhere near as loud as some other machines. Sure, you will hear it. But for a gaming laptop it's not that loud. The battery life is ok for gaming, better for non gaming. Some might feel the battery is to small for gaming. However, who uses the battery when gaming? You buy a gaming laptop for moving around from place to place. But honestly, even with the most expensive gaming laptop out there you are more than likely still going to plug it in. The 8th gen i7 chip is amazing. Really, this thing is fast! Even though the laptop only has 8gb RAM out of the box, it is more than enough with the i7 chip. But what is probably my favorite thing about the G7 is how easy it will be to up grade memory. Far to may laptops these days have removed the ability to access the internals. Not the G7. Turn one screw and you have access to the memory and hard drive. In fact, it has an open 2.5 inch bay to add a hard drive right away. I installed a 250gb SSD in a matter of minutes. This alone is worth the price of admission for me! The various ports can be seen in the specs list but it is safe to say you will be covered. I have already tried connecting it to my 29" wide screen monitor and it looks fantastic! In fact, this will most likely be replacing my desktop machine. Rarely does a product come along that I can't find a real flaw with, but this is one of them. Seriously, regardless of if you need this for gaming or not, the G7 should be on your short list for a new laptop!

Got a last-minute request for some orientation workstations for new employees who do not yet have security clearance. Request came in Friday afternoon and needed by Monday morning. Popped over to the N. May Ave store and bought 4 of these. They are fast and simple. After uninstalling the bloatware they are lean and mean.

Bought as a graduation gift for my son. He loved it. He will use for both school and gaming. He is a big guy so size and weight was not an issue but for me this laptop is way too heavy but as he explained it’s because it is a gaming laptop.

The Dell G7 is about all you could ask for in terms of power and value. The G7's snappy m.2 SSD allows for computer start ups so fast that you could quite literally look at your phone notification and have it be done by the time you look back. To cut things to the point(mostly because my s8 is laggy with text boxes) the G7 is fantastic if you don't want upgradability. If you do, you might want to look somewhere else, it takes only specific CL19 2666mHZ RAM and getting an HDD that is compatible with the laptop is an extreme pain. The Thunderbolt port offers solice in possible eGPU upgrades or external monitors but I have yet to test it. Overall, a solid laptop that would be just fine for many consumers, but constricts its power users. Ironic that a gaming laptop can't accept gaming RAM.

The overall performance of the laptop is impressive. Games run smoothly and so does your graphic intensive softwares. But as the vent is located below the laptop obstructing the flow by keeping it on your lap for a long time may cause game lagging and slower performances.

Bought this computer for office use, yes I know it is a gaming computer, but the extra power and smoothness the graphics power provides was well worth it. Very responsive unit, large SSD. Only wish it had a disc drive. It was an open box model that was priced very well and 100% functional.

I purchased this laptop for $849, it has exceeded all my expectations at this price point. Overall build quality is top kIt averages about 70 fps in Destiny 2 with high settings. Dell G7 handles all my multitasking and work spreadsheets like a champ.

I highly recommend this laptop! This laptop so far been able to run all my games at high settings with no problems! No one told me but the usb type c will in fact be able to use a EGPU down the road when the gtx 1060 starts to have problems! Great starter pc to get into gaming at a lower price!

Love that its up-gradable, very fast loading, awesome graphics. All in all an awesome laptop for gaming as well as anything else you can think of, art, social media, streaming, virtual reality. I will never go back to a basic laptop again. Would recommend to anyone looking for a new laptop.

After much deliberation I decided to purchase this laptop because I wasn't really in the market for a new one, but was necessary for me to due to my desktop always in use. I love the laptop. It is fast and powerful with the capability to handle any task. One small problem, I was never able to download the call of duty game as there was no download code to get the game. I've been a DELL user for years and I've never been disappointed. Just don't expect to receive any promised add ons like a free game when there is no way to take advantage of the offer. I'd recommend this laptop to anyone, just don't expect best buy to follow through on a free game offer.

This laptops is great, I use this for Electrical design, i would have go with 16GB but 1TB of 5,400 rpm drive... uuuh no thanks, so for 50 bucks i have a 2.5 in SSD, speed is amaizing, great performance on all task, gaming gets this laptop HOT just dont run in on ultra and good to go

The keyboard is really good quality. Lots of USB 3.0 ports, and the built-in webcam is really good quality. It comes with 2 4 GB memories and a 256 GB M.2 hard drive. There is an empty slot for a 3.5 ”SATA drive that I filled with a 500 GB Crucial drive

Dell makes great affordable laptops, solid state means faster start up. But I do miss having more choices of laptops with disk drive. As all brands of laptops are going too.( optional) external drive and external memory and going to smaller screen size.

This laptop was just as advertised, a decent mid-level gaming laptop. It was functional for the games I tend to play. I had no problems playing Elder Scrolls Online. I ended up returning it because I wanted a higher end gaming laptop.
