I had to buy my daughter a new laptop. Her old one was 4 years old and no longer worth fixing. This one was a step up from what she had. It's faster, has more hard drive space, and a better screen. All at less than what I paid for her old one 4 years ago. Oh, and it's about 1/2 the weight, WOW. She loves it, mainly because it's so much faster and lighter than what she had. For the price you are going to have a hard time finding a better deal. It is meant for your every day user, nothing heavy. It does email, web, office, and even plays the games she added. On the down side... It is light, a lot of plastic. I really don't expect this one to last the 4 years the other one did. The old one was an ASUS and built like a tank. The power charging cord on this unit sticks straight out and is small in size, it's going to get kicked at some point. I am going to look for a 90 degree adapter or plug to try and limit this.

My first computer was a Dell. It lasted around four years which is not bad at all taking into consideration that I used it all the time for school. My second computer was not a dell and a year after I found myself buying this product. So far I love my laptop. It is fast enough and does the job well. The only thing is that battery don't last that long but I guess that happens to most computers as I read many reviews from different products before purchasing my dell laptop and mostly made reference to this same issue. If you are looking for a laptop for internet browser, school/work related, and you don't want to spend too much money, go with this one.

I recently purchased two of these computers for my granddaughter's for school. The college girl thinks it's very good for all her classes and adequately meets her needs The same with the highschool girl. It is definitely not a showy ,more expensive computer available on the market, but is sturdy and has enough software to meet all their needs. They are very happy with their computers, and after buying student office for the highschool girl ,they seem to have what they need to make good grades to show their Grandmother! I would buy this again if I had it to do again. 4 stars is very very good.5 reserved for the very very best available,so this is an excellent quality product for what it is required to do.

Don't be fooled by the price. This low cost laptop supports 16gb of ram which is almost unheard of at its price. The 1tb hdd has ample room for anything you need. The screen is nice and surprisingly, the onboard video operates smoothly. I've done some light editing in Adobe Premiere and this unit can handle it. The hdd is set in a carriage within its slot. This allows for a very easy, 5 minute upgrade to an ssd because regardless of the clearance, the carriage holds the hd in place. Before upgrades its nice, after about $150 it holds its own with laptops and Macs costing over double!

This computer is good for someone who just needs a good travel computer. It's light weight and is good for small personal use like using the internet and doing a little bit of homework and such. It is not good for excessive use and use for heavy duty work. I bought this computer to use for when I don't want to lug around my heavy duty work/school computer. I do not recommend it for use other than a personal computer as it does not run very quickly and would therefore not be good for use with programs like Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, etc. Overall though the computer is very nice because it is lightweight and easy to travel with and it makes it convenient for doing quick work or for when I'm just watching netflix on the computer or something along those lines.

I got a new job position which didn't require a laptop but would make it easier if I had one. I didn't own a laptop and didn't have a lot of money to spend so I searched and look at many reviews. Went to BestBuy to look at a laptop that was on sale and saw this Dell which wasn't on the website. The Dell was a way better computer and on sale but for $50 more. It had better specs, more memory, hard drive, and a dvd reader. So far so good. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't used it enough to really be set on a 5 star rating. Maybe in a few months ill change my review.

Ample storage, great display and amazing sound. This item seems to be "misunderstood." Despite confusing info online it CAN be upgraded. It comes with a single 4gb ram stick. It has one open slot. The system is set up to easily upgrade to 16 gb (8X2) without firmware or bios updates. A standard 2.5" SSD fits into its built in carriage. Despite being a uni-body, this laptop is EASILY disassembled for upgrade purposes. At it's usual price point these upgrades bring you in several hundred under it's nearest rival with a performance level that rivals anything at double it's total cost. I am using it for Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere editing and it keeps up with the best of them. It's a sleeper........and the money saved for the performance you get pays for a great deal of your favorite software titles.

Purchased for my mother in law in her 70's to replace outdated laptop. Very nice unit good screen perfect for most basic uses. At less than $400 you can't beat it. This is not a chromebook but a full functioning complete machine, it even has a DVD/cd drive which was great for grandma. Cons: older I3 processor - so know what you need. This was still a great processor and so much better than the machine it replaced. Since the keyboard comes with a full numeric key pad to the right of the Qwerty keyboard (which is rare and great if you work with lots of numbers) the touch pad seems off center. It is centered with the qwerty keyboard but not with the overall laptop. End result you end up right clicking when you really want to left click. Just takes some getting used to and since grandma uses a wireless mouse anyway not an issue for us. Certainly not a deal breaker at this great price with all the features, power and quality build that this dell offers. Best inexpensive full featured laptop you will find. Grab one if you can still find one.

This laptop is one of the 3xxx series of dell personal laptop. Comparing to these powered by N series CPU, this one has an i3 cpu thus has better performance. Also, the memory and hard drive are very easy to upgrade. I replaced a 8G memory and 256G SSD and made it an affortable and light weight laptop. The keyboard is annoying for very hard and short press. Same as the screen. If you want better feeling go to the 5xxx or 7xxx series, or the 2 in 1 dell laptop.

I bought this laptop on sale for $250 at my local Best Buy. With all specs exceeding a standard laptop, this is the best deal I could possibly ask for. It was up and running right out of the box. The processor is fairly fast at 2.1 GHz (vs 1.6 GHz you usually see on a low-cost laptops), very quick on a start-up and shut down, has lots of HD space (1 TB), connects to Wi-Fi without any trouble, and despite what some specs say, it DOES have internal CD/DVD reader/writer drive. If you are OK with Widows 10, and looking for the normal laptop use (no heavy gaming or super resourse consuming programs), this laptop is for you. As an example, I installed Sims 3 on it, and it runs perfectly.

Got this on Black Friday to replace my desktop. Was anticipating using this simply for work at home online stuff but it has fully replaced desktop with all functions. Fast, responsive, screen is vibrant and great. I don't do any gaming on this so the memory is sufficient for basic day to day usage. This is my first Dell that I have bought brand new and while they do offer a lot of 'services', it definitely has that 'bloatware' feeling on a lot of these programs. Although this is a current year model, there were a few programs that were very outdated and it took more than light Googling to find out how to remove them. While I don't anticipate running into HDD space issues myself, it may be an issue for some of simply not wanting 'junk' on your machine. If you use a laptop for a lot of different applications, I would anticipate people running into issues in the future that may necessitate upgrading the HDD or eventually removing a lot of the bloatware and going through that frustrating process. If you are a casual PC user, I don't think that will happen though. Would very much recommend overall, Dell services and support that are available are easy to use and at times, relevant to an average user. If you are a bit on the savvy end, you would probably want a higher end laptop in the first place. This works as a reasonable budget entry for people and I am finding far more use out of it than I anticipated. Given the price I got it for on Black Friday, this is a purchase that I am quite happy with and got a bit more mileage than I anticipated. Average/beginner PC user = great entry buy Intermediate PC user = good holdover/replacement for higher end Advanced PC user = you don't need me telling you what to get right?

Got this computer on a back to school sale which was 249.99 and it was def worth it. I had bought an asus for 229 but it messed up while updating, saw this in the store and decided to try it out. Alot of best buy employees recommened at least an I5 processor for college use but in my opinion this one, which has an i3, works just fine use its works just fine. Office works well, internet does as well for online test. Youtube. netflix, twich, and other streaming websites didnt stutter or have any trouble playing 1080p quality videos. IMO this is a great budget option for any college student that doesnt wanna put down 500 plus dollars becase "its recommeded". Also the fact that this computer has a T hardrive means ill be awhile before having too much in your computer slows it down since there is plenty of space. Was worth my 249.99 and i would recommened it too if it was 300, is u see it at more than 350 though then u could probably find something slightly better.

Nice Dell but without the upgrade was two-three stars at best. I upgraded the memory to 8 GB and put in an ADATA SU800 256GB 3D-NAND 2.5 Inch SATA III SSD use the 1TB as a backup drive now. Now this laptop is lightning fast. My nine year old will be able to use this through college, will probably have to go to a larger SSD in the future but the 3D-Nand technology has excellent performance. Wireless connectivity is very good, display is good, the touch pad is a bit sluggish though even for use by a nine year old. With the cost of the upgrade plus the price of the laptop the total cost was still under $400.00. I have used it a few times just to test it and it is an excellent machine runs well on Win 10 home and it is a Dell. Will look at the higher end Dells for future purchases.

Got rid of my 2007 Dell flat screen and got this; old Dell was very very slow and drove me nuts w/slowness. This is fast. Had a normal keyboard before so this senior citizen getting used to new keyboard. I use it on desk, tried on lap and don't like it on lap as it is big. Screen is great, like playing Solitaire on it. Old Dell lasted a long time so that is one reason I got Dell again. HP was also in contention; got a HP printer at same time.

I'm usually anti dell. I am a fan of asus, toshiba, and recently hps new envy series. My friend needed a laptop for school and work, an old intel pentium aio wasn't cutting it. Literally loading pages 30 seconds of wait time per click, I knew I had to get at least an i3 processor. I was going to get a basic hp, but the screen resolution and quality was actually better on this laptop then the HP-ab or ba series. (The higher$ Au range is great quality for HP)the dell price was 279.99 on sale, 50 off. I had to get it. It works great, loads fine. It isn't lightning quick but isn't a total slug either. For the price it is well worth it. This is the only thing I'd buy from dell. Had paribus notify me 6 days later when it went on sale even more down to 259.99 and gave me a refund for the difference made me feel even better purchasing it.

I purchased this laptop for my wife to use at her workplace. She wanted one that wasn't too expensive. I purchased this for a little over $300 with tax. I wanted one that had at least an Intel i3 processor, 1 TB of space, and a DVD drive. This Dell laptop meets all of that criteria. I checked the reviews before choosing this one. It isn't the fastest, but has decent speed, great battery life, and fairly good performance for the price. This came with Windows 10 installed so I didn't need to upgrade. She has been using this for the past few weeks and other than some issues with the Wi-fi at her workplace, she likes the laptop.
