Great laptop for the money, came from using a mac for 6 years and picked this back up quickly. only problem is the fact best buy says the ram is expandable up to 16 gb and it is not, its expandable up to 8. i learned the hard way when i bought more ram from DELL and the computer refused to boot. come to find out its only good for 8gb. but still a great machine esp if you do not want to spend alot of money

I use this laptop for LightRoom and PhotoMechanic. It works very well but is a little slow. If I need to do any photo editing in the field, this works for that. Many other photographers would choose a faster processor or more RAM but for the 300.00 price tag, I am extremely happy with this unit!

Not sure why others think it doesn't work. I've had mine for a little more than a month and the only complaint I have is that the division on the touchpad from left to right isn't where I want it to be. So when I think I'm clicking left, I'm actually clicking on the right. Other than that, it works for my purposes, mostly internet browsing, and some Excel and games. Great price, too!

Works great. Really fast connection.
I use it mainly for downloads of music and learning coreolograph for exercise classes.
With the 1TBmemory i shoukdnt ever run out if room.
Its very user friendly nice graphics and doesnt have a bunch if bloat ware installed that takes up unneeded space.
Ive had it about 2 months now and no issues.
Plus its windows 10 so you have all the added benefits if you really want to use everything it has to offer.
I recommend it ocer HP products. I havent had much luck with thrm. Too many orobkdms and wasted money on their laptops ive had to hace fuxed in the 1st month andtbe issues never fixed.
The Dell i love so far. No issues.

I purchased this laptop as a temporary fix to a computer problem I was having. I needed a machine that could do basic computing and data storage. I have been very happy with the durability and speed of the machine. It is the first Dell computer I have ever purchased - I have always been an HP owner, but after my 3rd HP Pavilion laptop I realized I was only getting 2.5 years out of each one. My last machine had issues with the keys not communicating with the screen when I typed. This Dell computer is great because I can be rough on the keys. I haven't had my Dell long, but I think it will hold up well based on what I have experienced thus far. It is a good value for the money.

I needed a 15" monitor but a laptop lighter than my Toshiba because I'm carrying it around to enter data for the HRC Campaign. I didn't want to spend a lot of money but I wanted something reliable. This Dell is slower booting up but is great once it's up and fills the bill. If you're looking for a laptop with a good size screen under $400 this is a good buy.

My 3rd Dell laptop in 15 years. I like it. I needed something to hold my photos, patterns and work. Really needed the memory and 1T works for me.
It is slow when you turn it on, but what do you expect for a $350 laptop. I hate Windows 10, but nothing I can about that. I have been able to make it work like Windows 7, which was on my older Dell laptop.

I bought this inexpensive lap top primarily to access my website using the guest WiFi at facilities in order to demonstrate the website functionality to the facilities. It does fine for that, but I've taken to using a wireless mouse because the touch pad click buttons aren't really separate from the touch pad so the cursor tends to move before I can click an on screen item. If my finger isn't perfectly still on the button, the cursor scrolls on the screen. It does have an optical drive, although it's not indicated in the description. The touch pad issue, for me, is really irritating and is the only reason I wouldn't recommend this laptop..

I purchased this laptop as a Christmas gift for my 88-year-old mother. It replaced an 10-year-old Dell desktop that had Windows 98. She is technically savvy and wanted something that was easy to use, portable, peppy, and more "up to date".
After almost 4 weeks of near daily use, she is quite happy with it. She uses it exclusively for email, Internet searches, and Quicken. She has yet to have an issue with it, loves how fast it is, and finds it very easy to move around.
For the price I paid, it's a great bargain for anyone with simple laptop computing needs, at any age.

I needed an inexpensive laptop with a large screen that I could use for work (I do a lot of spreadsheets and accounting so the 10-key was a must). I dont expect a lot from a computer under $300, but this one was really a value. This is meant for a work computer. No flashy colors, no silly bells and whistles, just work.
Now, for the money, it has a lot faster processor than a lot of other budget laptops, has a 1tb hard drive, and the battery life is AMAZING! I forgot to bring my charger to work, and it lasted an entire 8 hour shift on battery power, with some to spare.
A few other things -
It feels good. The weight is well proportioned (it sits flat and doesnt lift up when you try to open the screen)
Its also pretty thin, and the texture has grip and hides fingerprints and smudges well.
I am so glad the salesperson at Best Buy talked me in to a Dell. I am usually an HP guy, and I feel like this computer is just better than the ones I have had in the past.

This is a great laptop for the price! First of all I buy A LOT of laptops! I currently own 2 myself, 1 for my wife and 1 each for my 2 kids. i also buy and setup laptops for my clients. my opinion is that right now this is the best deal that I have seen in a long time. great display. decent battery life and it's really light for the size. My only issue is if you want to upgrade the RAM , you basically have to take the machine completely apart- remove the bezel, take out the keyboard, etc.
Other than that, great purchase.!

great price is what led us to pick this item. keyboard stinks, battery is ok ( about 2 maybe 3 hours if using the computer) touchpad is ok. probably would just wait and spend a little more to get a better computer if I were to do it again.

Great laptop and fast once you remove the bloatware and stop the automatic software installs. Windows 10 updates automatically but unless you uncheck a box you will continue to receive new bloatware apps. Once I removed the bloatware installed from the factory and stop new apps from installing during updates the laptop is significantly faster and operates more smoothly. Great inexpensive family laptop with lots of storage, does everything we need and more. Very happy so far, just be prepared to spend a few hours removing bloatware. I used "should I remove it" and "PC Decrapifier" to help me determine what to delete. Also make sure and uncheck the automatic software apps box in the windows update menu. This will stop new unwanted apps from being installed every night when windows updates.

This laptop is a great value. I deducted a star for the amount of bloatware that is preinstalled, all set to load at startup. You can disable those from your start up easily, so it is more of an annoyance than an issue. Another reviewer stated that programs like word lagged for them on this laptop, I had that issue at first. I checked running processes, and after I turned off the bloatware that was running as background processes the issue stopped.
I bought this laptop primarily so I could work away from home. It is light weight, and the keyboard is comfortable to use.
The speakers are ok, not very loud; but the sound is better than most laptops I have used.
Video quality with Netflix, other forms of streaming video, and DVDs are great. I can run LOTRO on medium graphic settings, with a decent FPS rate. Games like the Sims run very well on this laptop.
I have had zero issues with this laptop, and find the only time my wifi drops is when my company actually goes out.

So far so good. I have used HP since the mid-1990s, and this is my first Dell computer. My granddaughter and I now have the same laptop, hers for school, and mine for research. I'm not thrilled with Windows 10, but the laptop, itself, is great and the amount of memory is fantastic.

I have bought this laptop, it comes with some nice features, and built in software bundles (for trial period), this laptop is quite light weight and is a good gadget for medium to high laptop users, the only drawback is its battery which drain quickly even after full charge.

Slower than my previous laptop which had Intel's i5 but still a great laptop for someone on a budget i.e. college students
-good speed
-quality display
-superior battery life
-plenty of storage (1TB)
-all essentials are there (HDMI port, sd card reader, cd drive)
