For those who prefer large screen estate

The most striking feature about this laptop is its 16-inch screen size. It takes me back to the time when I got my first business laptop a few decades ago, which was a 15.4 inch laptop. Large screen size was a common fixture for business laptop back in the day. But before talking more about the features, let me just say that a 16-inch laptop should be well suited for people who works a lot with multiple windows, spreadsheets application and those who like to type with larger size fonts or set the screen to higher magnification factor. The large screen is also good for media consumption/ entertainment. At 4.65 pounds, this is not a light laptop but considering the size, it is reasonable: not too heavy and certainly not light. The dimension and weight of the charger is compact enough that it helps in making the whole set still bearable to carry when commuting. There’s always a trade-off if you want a large screen: the larger the screen the heavier your laptop would be. When you bring the laptop and charger inside your backpack, you can still feel the weight but it’s so much better to carry it inside a backpack because the weight is sustained by your body more evenly. Now onto the features. The biggest feature is actually the screen. The large screen size means you can open multiple documents and use multiple windows to enhance your productivity. If you’re a lawyer, researcher, business executive, business owner or even a student who likes to conduct research and type at the same time or comparing different documents, you would appreciate the 16-inch screen even more. The large screen estate enables you to open two windows side-by-side, large enough to fit full size information on each window. At 300nits of maximum brightness, the screen is bright enough even when you have to work outdoor. The screen is also touch-input capable. I personally don’t use touch screen input that much as I have very good tablet for that purpose. Windows in tablet mode is still Windows meaning it’s not an operating system designed from the ground-up to support touch screen input exclusively. Having said that, touch screen input would be more useful in specific scenarios such as photo and video editing as well as graphics design. However, it’s important to note that this laptop does not come with high-end spec required to provide utmost productivity when working with high-intensive graphics application. Since the laptop supports touch input, it naturally supports windows ink with compatible pen that you can purchase separately. This laptop features 13th gen Intel processor, which is powerful enough for any typical business application such as MS-Office and basic Full HD video and photo editing. Overall, it has decent spec. The SSD hard drive helps in making everything feels fast. It’s good that this laptop uses DDR5 RAM instead of DDR4. I would like it more if it has more RAM capacity considering that the large 16-inch screen is meant for opening as many windows and tabs as we want and also for multitasking. Having said that, the laptop is fast enough for words processing, web browsing, and typical business use thanks mainly to the use of SSD and the processing prowess of the Intel processor. Half Terabyte of storage is decent as you can store plenty amount of multimedia files. Because of the limited RAM capacity, we just have to be mindful not to open too many windows or leave too many apps running all at the same time as they will consume much of the system resources. Battery performance is also good as it can last for hours of work without needing to plug in the laptop. Being able to use the laptop on battery for hours is a must when you’re attending a conference, seminar, meeting etc. when power outlet is not always available. You will definitely feel the weight when using the laptop on your lap; however, the laptop should feel stable as you use it for typing. Watching video with 16-inch screen feels more immersive because of the large screen estate. The laptop supports Dolby Atmos audio and the speaker is loud enough for a laptop. In terms of connectivity, it’s pretty standard for business use. You’re getting USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 and display port support, legacy USB (USB-A), and HDMI. You can connect a projector or monitor through either the USB-C or the HDMI port. The laptop also has SD Card slot, which is useful when transferring photos/ videos from a camera. Also, it’s great that this laptop has an audio input (headphone) jack so you can connect your analogue headphone to the computer. RJ45 port is missing here as it is typical for business laptop nowadays, however, should you need one you can always buy an adapter that supports thunderbolt 4.0 in order to enjoy the gigabyte connection from your LAN. You also get a built-in FHD video camera and mic that are good enough for video conferencing. Wireless connectivity is standard, supporting the latest wifi protocol and Bluetooth. One last thing to note, Dell has a good software update and diagnostic system that is easy to use so you can be sure that your system would be getting all the latest firmware and driver updates.
