The overall laptop is good. The only issue is that the mouse is not that responsive. Immersive sound experiense.

If you’re looking for a big-screen laptop, with a screen large enough to be suitable for portable productivity, without an external display, then this is a great choice. The elephant in the room is the screen so I’ll dive right into that. It’s 16” which is “only” a little bigger than a more common 15.6” display, but when you actually have it in front of you it feels so much more than just a .4” increase – partly due to the slightly taller 16:10 1920x1200 display ratio vs a more typical 16:9 1920x1080. That extra nudge of pixels along the y-axis, ~10%, does wonders at making the entire screen experience more immersive. In terms of processing performance the Intel i7 1360p cuts through everyday tasks like so much butter, and handles even computing heavy tasks like graphic design and video encoding very well. I do a lot of 4k video work and the i7 1360p is unquestionably one of my two fastest systems, and the system ran quiet and cool enough that I was never really distracted by fan noise or heat even while under extended full load for a video export. While the CPU rocks, the Iris Xe GPU is solidly middle of the road. There’s nothing wrong with Iris Xe graphics, just don’t expect this to be great for high-detail gaming. But for work, even serious work like heavy graphics and video editing, Iris Xe delivers reliably. Some video encoders can tap into the GPU for a boost and while the Iris Xe is on my encoder’s supported list it isn’t one of the more high-performance options. So if you’re a “video professional” then this may not be for you, but for a video enthusiast like myself who takes media production seriously but more as a now-and-then side gig, this system is fantastic and capable for mobile media production. The battery life has been excellent. I typically keep my laptops plugged-in and topped-off during the day and then run unplugged all evening for cord-free personal use, which is usually ~4 hours of typical browsing, document editing, social media, astronomy software, and hobby video pursuits, and I’ve not once needed to plug in before I was ready to hit the sack for the night. It’s honestly a big beautiful laptop that seems very well-balanced for day-to-day use. That said, there are a couple of design elements that I’d like to see Dell improve in future models. 1) While the system can be powered through either of the two USB-C ports, both ports are one side of the chassis which limits power cabling options. I’d love to see this same model with USB-C ports on BOTH sides to give the user some more power flexibility. 2) The contrast on the silver keyboard model makes it tough to read in some lighting conditions even with the backlight on full. While this may not be an issue once you’ve learned all the special keys there were times during initial setup and familiarization with the system that I found myself tilting the keyboard like I was sifting for gold trying to read the symbol on the key. Neither of these are deal-breakers, just details to consider on an otherwise excellent consumer laptop. I would absolutely recommend this to friends and family.

I ended up returning this laptop and purchased a Lenovo for the same price that was much much better all the way around. The cooling fans on this Dell would randomly fire up, and were loud. And the display was not as clear as the description would lead you to believe. I had a 5 year old basic laptop that had a screen resolution that was similar to this Dell's.
