Best Ultrabook on the market

This computer is probably the best currently available if you are looking for features in a small package. The screen is large and crisp and fits into a small case of the laptop. They seem to have trimmed all the fat off a standard bulky laptop. Touchscreen is great with Windows 10. I used to buy Vaio laptops only, but with Sony out of the market, this is probably the next best company as far as combining features and design. Of course you do have to pay for that like you did with the sony Vaio. This laptop also features a USB-c connection which will eventually be the format of the future so it is equipped to be useful for years to come!

Excellent, light weight and powerful machine

I'm a heavy user and I use this machine for engineering models where I run multiple tasks together and it's never complaint. It's a powerful and lightweight machine that you'll fall in love with quickly! The touch screen is handy and the keyboard feel and press is not uncomfortable - you'll need to get used to it though. The screen size looks like 12" but it's actually 13" which is great to pack it into my small backpack. The charger is also small and lightweight.
The downsides of it are the followings:
- It has few USB ports and no HDMI, VGA ports which means you'll need to buy adapters if you need to plug in monitors, external mouse and keyboard. I have it connected to 2 monitors, a printer, a mouse and a keyboard and I'm using for that a multi-port adapter and a USB splitter.
- It doesn't have a CD/DVD reader which is common for ultra portable machines. It only means that you'll need to copy the installation files for your software from CDs into thumb drives (if they're not available to download).
- The worst problem (to me) is screen resolution. The very high screen resolution of this machine (which I don't really need) comes with a cost. Some of the programs I'm using are not compatible with this screen resolution which makes the font size super big or super small. Also, when you connect it to external monitors, it's hard to get the resolution just right. It's annoying in that since but I don't think you can really do much to fix this.
- The built-in camera is in an awkward position but I didn't really need to use it.

Touch Screen is a MUST

I was apprehensive about having a touchscreen laptop and did not want to spend the extra money on it however, it has improved my productivity level. I love the dual screen feature of this laptop. I did go with a 13 inch screen and I do recommend going with the bigger screen, and I also don't like that it does not have a c-drive. Other than those two things, as far as the computer is concerned, it is fast and durable. This computer is compact and light weight, and has exceeded my expectation. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone. I use mine for business, ministry, personal use, and continuing education.

although I dropped it and bent the corners its been great so far. it has a really sensitive touchpad which has been hard to get used to, but for the size and weight for portability I can compromise.

The Dell XPS 13 is THE premium ultrabook to have. Looks and feels great, and is a pure pleasure to use. Windows 10 solves most of the problems that the ultraHD screens faced with Windows 8. One thing, invest in the Dell USB C dock (470-ABQN). It's a little pricey, but adds ALL of the extra ports you'll probably never need, but be sorry that you don't have.

I was almost lured into the marketing ploy that is the Surface Pro 4. After a lot of research I settled on the Dell XPS and I am so pleased. This is a powerhouse in a tiny frame.

I love my Dell XPS! It is compact, portable and fast. It is a 13" touch but I rarely use the touch screen...too messy. I still use and love my Dell XPS 17", however, after getting real comfortable with my iPad's mobility, the 17" got rather bulky. But now I have the Dell XPS 13" and it's just as mobile as my iPad but more comprehensive in what I'm able to do with it (as opposed to my iPad). Still does what it's big brother (17") does, but is as mobile as my iPad Air 2. I love it!!! I could have gotten an Inspiron for way less, but it can't compete with the XPS...not in quality or performance.

Did a good amount of research on this computer before I pulled the trigger. Happy to say, so far, it's everything I had hoped it would be. Really nice screen, super portable. Touchpad isn't great but I use a Bluetooth mouse so doesn't directly effect me. I would recommend this laptop to a friend.

Excellent replacement for 10-year-old laptop

I'm glad for the reliability of my previous Dell laptop, but obviously there are great benefits in replacing it after 10 years! Smaller dimensions and much reduced weight make me feel I have true mobility with a fully capable computer again. The touchpad still seems a little skittish but I think that just needs some practice on my part - more sensitive than I have had. Low placement of camera is not ANYONE'S preference, I think, but that is probably a trade-off to get the thin profile of the case.

My Wife Loves It!

I work full-time both with Microsoft and Best Buy so for a lot of you, aside from my work, I have 15 years of past PC building experience, so I hope this review helps.
First thing to note about the Dell XPS series is that it's an ultrabook, so although for a lower dollar you can find solid state of similar specs and yes even better like 7th Gen (Kabby Lake) series i5 or i7. Let me explain why I chose this device.
First off this device features M.2 Solid-State Drive. Not only is this allowing for a more compact design, but it also enhances the speed of the device versus stand Solid-State drives by x3 times the read and write speed. The display quality was also important between stream use, photo, video editing with Lightroom/Photoshop/Adobe Premiere usage. My wife is a novelist and will spend much time peering into the screen. So having something that is not just better in resolution but also material and viewing angle was also important. Currently we get 8-10 hours of battery life depending if she is using word processing or streaming and enjoying media.
The slim form factor being 2-1 is a huge plus, and although she didn't like the idea at first, Windows 10 has some very unique features that save a lot of time whether or preference is mouse or not, touch works well!
All in all, I love my desktops I build for gaming and high tier performance, and for coding I love working with my surface devices, especially when taking notes. But I got to hand it to Dell, between ASUS Zenbook, HP Spectre, Lenovo 910 - Dell kicks a lot of but if you're not seeking the highest performance for your dollar and are willing to increase quality instead! Will expect many years out of this, 7+ is my assumption.

I returned it within first month. Took it on 2 work trips and had the worst experiences of my life. The main issue was with the keyboard. The shift key would phantomly get locked, making it nearly impossible to type a coherent or professional sentence. When I say the shift key got stuck, it was not meant literally. It just acted like it was stuck/pushed.... but not always. Called Dell twice who removed into my laptop but whatever they did/didn't was useless.

I was looking for a basic laptop but ended buying this gem. The SSD drive is really quick. It is definitely not for gaming. However, it exceeds on all other areas. Multiple applications opened at the same time do not slow down this laptop. Glad I bought this laptop.
