The computer is good. Only had problem with the sleep recovery, some times the computer cannot recover and restart again and again, which is not good. Tried to find the solutions for this problem, but no clear guidance. Remove some of Dell's applications, and it works fine now.

I found the keyboard touch and trackpad not worth the change. Also win10 scaling issues just get in the way. So spec wise it's great but the UI just doesn't fit my big hands. I'll stay with my old dell and win7 for a few more years. Very cheap to fix when anything seems worn.

So far it is running well. Bought primarily for use in a graduate program, which required an i7 quad core laptop. I was unsure about getting such a large screen because of weight, but now I'm glad I got it because the split screen view fits better.

So far my son is very happy w/the laptop except for the audio. Both earbuds must be in to hear properly and, on occasion, the speakers don't work well.

This is my first laptop. I am of course enjoying the convenience and mobility. I like that it only weighs four pounds. The graphics on this model are excellent.. It is very user friendly. I like that much of the technology will update itself.

Great laptop, but the screen sometimes get pixelated and it's supposed to be for gaming and high performance. It's also slower than imagined for such a beast of a machine. Any feed back on this would help me speed it up or fix resolution issue.

I really love its beautiful screen, that's why I buy it. But, when I played league of lengend for more than 3 hours, the computer became hot and the game got stuck. Overall, it is a good laptop for office work, but not suitable for games.

    Best ultrabook out there

Ok so as a software architect with over 18 years of experience I have extensive working knowledge of the ins and outs of systems and software. I wanted a very light (portable) laptop or possibly 2 in 1 that I could fire large solutions up in Visual Studio Enterprise or even edit in Photoshop. I was initially considering the surface book but price was way out there. Regardless I went in to best buy to purchase one and it was not in stock. I noticed the Yoga 900 core i7 6500u (skylake) and 512ssd with 16gb ram which was VERY close to the surface, so I decided to purchase it and give it a shot. I can honestly say it was slick I thought they did a wonderful job keyboard, mouse, battery, and screen all worked exceptionally well. The fact that it could flip to a tablet was awesome. However after throwing all my software on there it was noticeably struggling, mostly in the graphics area getting very hot under the rear center. If I was an average Joe using excel or daily user software it would have been perfect. I happened to do some more homework and found out this new Dell was hitting the market soon and let me dive into the specs.... Dell XPS-9550: 16gb ram, 4k IPS screen, 1tb pcieSSD...basically for $2300 you get a 4 core (not 2) intel core i7-6700u 2.7ghz (that's 8 cores including logical). The surface book only gives you a 2 core intel core i7-6600u 2.6ghz. Major difference when it comes to multi-threading (using several applications at the same time). This alone was one of the biggest points to making the dell crush the surface. Here is another HUGE point that most don't notice. The dell offers a pci-e (pci express) SSD which gives the SSD more BUS speed over SATA (what most laptops are). This means you can go from average 4-500mb sec/read write to 2-3 times that with pci-e (1000+ mb sec read/write). I can't state how much this means in terms of performance. Here is another feature that makes this crush the surface. The ram is upgradeable! Yep, you can upgrade the 16gb up to 32gb! The surface ram is soldered in which means you can't upgrade it at all! To top it off the ram in the dell is also ddr4 (most new laptops are still ddr3), so the ram speed is over 2133mhz! As if I haven't sold you already, the final point I will make is dedicated graphics. The dell offers an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M with 2gb of ram on board. The surface only has 950m with half the ram size at 1gb. Folks this dell is a rocketship! It's bleeding edge in fact a work of art that is bleeding edge. There are just a few laptops out now (none this beautiful) which offer these specs in such a light compact frame. This laptop is much faster than the apple macbooks (I have one also) as it's bleeding edge with the fastest skylake cpu's up to 3.5ghz (with turbo boost) and pci-e SSD's. I have my software installed and it feels similar to my workstation (24 core xeons with pci-e ssd's and 60gb ram). As for aesthetics and weight it feels a bit heavier than I imagined. maybe that's b/c I just traded in the Yoga 900 which was 2.9lbs. The dell at 4.4 is not super light but feels nice. The edge to edge glass definitely makes it feel smaller. Love that! My most critical concern was keyboard and trackpad but it's clear dell has matured in the XPS as it feels just perfect. The travel on the keys are exactly as I would want them to feel. The trackpad is a bit sensitive but you can adjust this. For $2400+ (with tax) I have a laptop with 1tb ssd storage that will last me for 5+ years being upgradeable and built so well. The carbon fiber top is gorgeous and the hinge feels extremely solid when opening (the yoga bent when i opened / closed it). One thing I love about the bottom is the fact it has 2 rubber landing tracks. This keeps the aluminum bottom from becoming covered with scratches. This is something you don't think about much but the yoga just after 1 week had dozens of scratches taking away from the look. The dell won't have this issue. Sorry for the long review I want others to know this laptop is one of the best if not the best ultra-portable high-end 4k touch screen laptop out there. If you don't need a detachable tablet this is a no brainer. Honestly the surface let me down when I found out you lose the graphics plus battery life goes from 10+ hours to 2 max in tablet mode. I figured I will use my ipad for browsing the net or email, and go with the best specs for my ultrabook. Hope this review helped! You won't regret purchasing this baby that's a fact!

Prior to purchasing this Dell XPS laptop I read a lot of reviews and talked to many people. The key factors in my decision was it's ruggedness and the availability of a 1TB SSD. All in all, I am very happy with this purchase.

My son helped me do a lot of research on this computer. I have always had Apple and love it but my son pressured the point that I could get more for the money going with a windows product. So far I like it very much. Lots of features and power for the money and probably very easy for people family with windows products and have their preferred browser and such already picked out

I purchased my Dell xps 9550 as an open box Geek certified notebook on December 9, 2016. It shipped from a store in Washington state. When it arrived I noticed that it was originally sold on 1-19-2016. I called the Best Buy Geek squad at the store where it was purchased and asked why I was receiving a computer that was at almost a year old. He did not provide any explanation other than it had not been repaired . I assumed open box geek certified were either returned items or display models. I still can not figure out where this computer was for 10 months after its original sale by Best Buy. Nice looking machine. 1TB SSD is what I needed. Also a thunderbolt 3 port(I have not used it yet). I needed a Ethernet connection so I purchased an adaptor for the USB 3.0 port. It works okay on 1 of the ports but crashes my entire office network wifi when plugged into the other USB 3.0 port. Also have had many BSOD. The most annoying issue is the intermittent screen flicker. I have read all the threads/forums on this issue regarding bios/driver updates but still have the problem although it is less frequent than initially experienced. It has to be a software issue because it has improved but has not been completely resolved. It did not have Dell Color Premiere installed(I thought is was supposed to come with it) so I downloaded it. As soon as I did my display would flicker, black out , flicker terribly. I immediately uninstalled the program and the display stabilized. I have spent many hours reading threads/forums, updating, tweaking this machine and I am still not satisfied with the results. I have spent lots of extra dollars on software to load onto this notebook and now am questioning whether I made the right decision. This notebook is an enigma to me . It has rave reviews all over the internet but if you look carefully(Dell XPS 9550 4K issues/problems) you will find the rest of the story. There are hundreds and hundreds of reviews that have nothing but praise for this notebook but there are also many reviews that deal with the screen flicker and the Thunderbolt 3 port. I'm suspecting Dell may have a quality control issue.
