This laptop has had many issues since the beginning, starting with a dangerous overheating battery that swelled and pushed the touchpad up. The ac power adapter/charger is poorly designed- it basically just falls out of the port & the cord has shorted out multiple times. Also I had to have the mother board replaced 3 times while under extended warranty.

    Great Laptop for Student

I bought this product to replace my old MacBook pro. I have been using this laptop for close to two months now and it has been a very positive experience. My first impressions of the laptop were very good. It has a fantastic build quality, and outside cover gives it a very nice appearance. This laptop is perfect for a college student. I use the laptop for all my classes, streaming movies, music and a little bit of light gaming. This laptop is very lightweight and slim so it’s easy to throw in my backpack to carry to class without breaking my back. The screen size and resolution is outstanding. The edge to edge display really makes a big difference with movies and videos. It can run all my programs just fine without any issues. A really big perk of this laptop is the battery life. This products battery life easily lasts all day and then some. I can usually get 6-8 hours out of it depending on what I set the screen brightness, what programs I am running, and if I put the battery saver on. This laptop can also handle quite a bit of gaming and it comes with a GTX 960m graphics card so any graphic intensive games or programs are not a problem. However, there are a couple problems that I have had with this laptop. When I first got it I had hard drive issues a month into using it so I lost all the data I recovered from my last laptop. Ever since the I have kept it updated and there have been no major issues. Another thing that I have noticed with this laptop is it can get very loud while gaming, and after playing games for a while the laptop gets very hot and has some throttling issues. Fingerprints are also a nightmare on the carbon fiber keypad area. Overall I would recommend this product to my friends and family. This product is perfect for students and personal use.

I love this laptop (what it could be anyway). The screen is awesome and the build is solid. I like the silver finish on the outside and the carbon fiber on the inside. However, there are too many technical glitches. I returned the first one I bought because the screen kept flickering, which is a common problem. I returned it for a replacement (same make, XPS 15) and the replacement has the same problem. Also, when close the laptop then open it and type in my password the screen goes black and flickers from home screen to black screen a few time. If DELL can fix these issues I will re-rate 5 stars. So if you like gambling get one and hope you don't get a lemon!!!

    So far, Excellent!

Pros: - 4K Screen is incredible - 16GB of Ram - 1TB SSD Drive - Fast 6th Generation 4 Core i7 Processor - Reasonably Priced Cons: - None so far!!! I have had this laptop for just about 24 hours and to sum it up, this is one excellent laptop. The first thing you will notice is that the 4K screen is gorgeous. I replaced an old XPS 15 with a 4K screen (about 18 months old), with this new one and the difference is incredible. Bright, crisp and sharp. It is a real pleasure to look at. I am looking forward to watching a movie or two on my next plane ride. I will not go over every little detail as the previous reviews do this laptop justice. I will say that I am impressed with the device and am in awe at the speed. You will quickly come to appreciate the 16GB of memory, the 4 Core 6th Gen i7 processor and the dedicated video card memory. With a 1TB SSD drive, this thing blazes through the boot up process (under 6 seconds in most cases) and Windows 10 runs smooth as butter. The touch screen is responsive even more so than my old XPS 15. At 4.4 pounds, it is not the lightest laptop out there, but it feels light and its easy to carry. The edge to edge screen also helps keep the footprint smaller than most other 15" laptops. Did I mention how gorgeous this screen is? The keyboard is quick and responsive and backlit. Battery life is better than expected, even with the screen brightness at 75%-100%. Kick it down to a reasonable 25% and its even better. I really have no complaints so far with this machine. If you need a desktop replacement or a powerful laptop you cannot go wrong. As a avid photographer, I use Photoshop to edit my images. When on vacation or on a weekend trip, the ability to edit my images after a long day of shooting is important to me so having a machine capable of doing this is a priority for me. If you are a gamer, this machine should be able to handle most games although, this is not a gaming machine. Most, if not all business users will find this laptop to be more than capable for anything you will throw out it. I can highly recommend this machine to just about anyone, you will not be disappointed. If you are considering a new laptop with high end specs and are considering anything else, keep this one at the top of your list. I was looking at the Surface Book but found it to be much too expensive for what you get. This laptop is above and beyond a better value for your money. Of course if anything changes, I will revisit this review.

I received my laptop only to discover it lacked a hard drive. Really??? Contacted customer support - waited 18 minutes only to have my call disconnected. Finally reached a rep who referred me to the Geek Squad. How could they help when the pc didn't have a hard drive? When I got in touch with someone who would listen I was told there were out of stock and could not replace. AND it would take at least 10 days to get my refund. A completely dissatisfactory experience. Will never purchase from BestBuy again. And, I doubt this review will be posted.

Dell XPS laptop display problems. Display flickered on and off when computer booted up. Computer locked up when viewing web pages. Unit was defective and Best Buy gave me a total refund when I returned it and a Best Buy technician noted the same problems. Thank you Best Buy for fair and honest customer service. Note: This was my fifth Dell computer purchase and my first problem. I recommend Dell, but not this this specific XPS configuration.

First machine never made it out of Geek Squad setup. They said as soon as they powered it up, it powered itself back off. Second machine made it through setup & to my house. But, within less than 48 hours, it had a hardware failure & would not power off. Best Buy offered to repair or refund - I took refund! So disappointing as this laptop had excellent reviews, but the 2 I had were complete duds.

    Great Laptop

Most of the positive features of the laptop have been included in the other reviews. The display is awesome. The processor is fast (4-core instead of many other i7's out there including just 2). One positive I haven't read about yet is the price at Best Buy. Since I bought it last week, the price jumped up $100. However, it's still a great value. The option for a 1 TB SSD on the Dell website is $600. While I give this laptop 5 stars, there are two things I find negative about the laptop. First, the keyboard. The keys feel good, but my problem is with the number of keys. There appears to be plenty of real estate, but Dell chooses to not have dedicated keys for many things like the Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, etc. The second negative (and maybe in the future a positive) is the USB-C port. The port promises many things, but they just aren't able to deliver on them today. I have a Samsung 4K monitor and another monitor that is 2560x1440. I tried the Dell D3100 docking station. It uses a USB 3 connection and DisplayLink technology and does not perform well. Dell advertises a TB-15 USB-C docking station to be released in 2016 (with no details about the specs), which doesn't help me today. The HDMI port on the laptop supports 4K, but only at 30Hz. My point is that Dell is pushing you towards using the USB-C port as an all-in-one connectivity port, but there are no real device options. I found a few things on Amazon by names I've never heard of, but the display specs are not good. There currently appears to be no support for 4K at 60Hz. I have a great laptop and two great monitors, but no current way to get them all to work together....just the promise that some day the USB-C port will solve all my needs.

i have a macbook pro 15 and wanted to have a windows laptop bc i love windows . you can say i wanted another laptop beside my macbook pro just for fun . however i was really disappointed for this 2000+ $ laptop. here is why : 1- the battery life . you will understand my feeling if you have a macbook pro or will have one soon . i have mid 2014 macbook pro top of the line 2500+$ and been using it for 2 years now , the computer still give me 7 hours continuous web surfing and watching youtube . this dell xps barely gave me 5 . thats 2 hours difference . i don't know whether the problem is in windows laptop but you would expect that at least they match apple macbook pro , especially you are paying almost the same price , this xps is no where cheaper than macbook pro 2- the trackpad is also not comparable to the mac . i mean macbook trackpad is way more responsive , accurate and smooth than the dell xps 3- the speakers are awful 4- the web cam location is really a negative thing 5- the keyboard is small and little space between the keys making the tying experience is not that good if you are deciding between mac and this xps please do yourself a favor and pick the mac . if you have to have windows let me tell you what i like about this xps after you knew what i don't like : 1- the display is very colorful and nice . the 4k is really gorgeous, however it is not better than macbook pro screen . i like the mac screen way more than the xps screen 2- laptop weight is very little 4.4 lbs and size is really small 3- the performance is great

So far using the computer seems fast . I have been trying to use it for photography with Lightroom. Lightroom is running very slow, contacted Dell wants me to pay them $200 to fix the problem after buying a $2200 computer. Not that happy. Didn't buy geeks squad support either so they won't help. Thought after purchasing a 2200 a computer you would get some type with tech support with it to start with.

I don't know why the screen always keep filtering and I tried to upload the latest version of BIOS and Intel Graphics and NIVIDA video drives, but turns out the same problem. I reset my laptop for 3 times and the filtering still exists. I was really hurt because of this laptop, since I just get it only one moth without any physical strike.

    Best Laptop of 2015

I currently own the 2nd gen Dell XPS13, 2nd gen HP Spectre X360, Surface Pro 4, and Surface Book to use as comparisons and so you understand I know about the newer systems. The new Dell XPS 15 has everything I wanted in all of these computers. It has the latest and most powerful aspects of an ultra power laptop. Quad Core Processor, 16GB of RAM expandable to 32GB, 1TB SSD Drive, 84whr battery, 4k monitor with 100% Adobe RGB, back lit keyboard, glass track pad, edge to edge monitor, 4.5 lbs and dedicated Nvidia 960m with 2GB of DDR4 RAM. This screen is the most beautiful screen I have ever seen on a laptop or an external monitor. The keyboard feels smooth and has good travel. The battery gets around 5-6 hours of normal use. If there was one weak point it would be the speakers. Only because they are on the bottom so sound gets muffled if on lap but they are loud and clear. If you need power for photo and video editing, gaming, programming, web design, or any work function I would highly recommend this laptop. The Best Buy price is actually cheaper for this fully loaded model by $700 over the Dell price. Please click the like button if you found this helpful.

I have been a happy MacBook Pro user for years (w/ Windows installed) - this is the laptop that got me to switch. I have been using it about a week now with zero problems. Fast, brilliant screen, sleek body, stable & quiet. Sure, you may not appear as cool pulling your Dell out in a San Francisco coffee shop, but you could spend a $1,000 more on a MacBook Pro who's specs still don't compare to this beauty. Best laptop available IMO. PS - My friend, tech CEO in SF, also bought the exact same model directly from Dell, paid more, and absolutely loves it. He would write a five star review too if he wasn't so busy.
