Went Big but Took Back to Store
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a business user in need of a power house laptop. This one, on paper, is a beast. I really like its form with my only issue being with opening the laptop. The speakers and mic were awesome - I do hours of web conferencing. The display was brilliant. When it comes to function, I was greatly disappointed with the intel graphics. I wish the laptop would stay strictly on discrete. The issue I was having was that screens would display all white and only after moving the mouse around or minimizing and maximizing the application would the display return. And this after multiple display updates. The other main issue was that Firefox would stop responding when I had 3-5 heavy traffic applications opened. This laptop is an i7 with 16g ram and 1Tb flash storage - nothing should stop responding. I am returning the laptop to the store today as a result. For $2300 the laptop should work like a dream... and it just doesn't.

Fast, protable and powerfull
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a preliminary review, I've had this machine three days and have not yet fully integrated it into my workflow but, so far, I'm loving it. I bought this as a portable desktop replacement and, so far, it has met my expectations. I do a lot of photo editing using Photoshop and Lightroom and was finding that my desktop (Alienware# was bogging down. Due to my requirements I was looking for a machine with an i7 series 6 processor, 16GB of RAM, 1TB hybrid or SSD, high-end discreet video, and the ability to drive up to three monitors at least one of which is 4K. This laptop meets all of those specs. There are lots of positive things about this machine including the build quality, ergonomics and portability. It has a very sleek design that makes it easy to use and carry #the Infinity narrow-border concept does make it significantly smaller than other 15.6 laptops). It doesn't have a keypad, but since I'll be using it mostly with an external keyboard, that isn't an issue for me. Because of the SSD, it's very quiet and boots very quickly. The screen resolution is great and images look amazing. It has gotten a bit warm, though not really hot, but I probably will get a cooling pad for it. In order to fully integrate it into my workflow, I'll need a docking station and I'll get one that connects through the Thunderbolt connection. Dell has one, but it's very poorly reviewed. They have a new docking station to be released soon, but I may have to go with a third-party option.

I recommend this product without a dude!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I had read some bad comments about this product, I can assure anyone this is the best laptop I ever have had. It shows a awesome 4k display, a lighten speed, a very functional touchscreen and...can't stop talking about this excellent product...!

Excellent laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to get the open box geek squad certified laptop discounted to 1750 plus tax. Best purchase hands down I know there are the display driver issues but I bet Dell and Intel are working on that. Same laptop at Dell is gonna cost you 2700 plus tax. If you have the money go for it you won't regret it. I am using Ubuntu in VMware works amazing on this laptop.

Excellent computer, despite BB recommendation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop. I've always been a Mac person, but I got this b/c I wanted a dedicated Windows machine for my work. Now I just want to use it for all of my computing. The screen is large w/ fantastic resolution and clarity -- and at 15.6 inches the computer still seems like a sleek package b/c there's no wasted space on the edges. I'm used to the Apple MacBook w/ Retina display -- I didn't know a PC could match/surpass the screen. Touch screen works fantastically. Specs are top notch for a laptop -- from processor, to flash storage space, to RAM, to dedicated graphics. HOWEVER, I felt really misled when I was in the store. The representative said this model was overpriced given its specs and said that the similar costing Surface Pro had altogether better specs. The only reason to get this, he said, was if I wanted a larger screen. Well, a little reading has me realizing he was giving me 100% wrong information. I got the impression that his manager was pressuring him to push the Surface Pro, and maybe he took it too far by inventing his own facts.

Drive Issues - Driver Issues - Driver Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As hardware goes this is one very well built laptop... only problem was it would blue screen and shut down about every 5 minutes. For a machine that has just come out I don't understand why there would be so many driver issues. After a length update of the video and wireless the problems seemed to get better but not a 100% fix. When running the Dell app to help with this there are some 25+ drives listed for my model and I was not about to go update all of them.... I returned the laptop and will continue to use my Apple products. I thought this would be the machine to get me to move from Apple to a pure windows based machine, it was not the case.

Good computer with issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Computer performance is great. There are some issues that I've noticed though. Sound card issues. Graphics driver issues. Bios issues. Battery longevity issues. These are all bound to improve. But they are still there. They don't hinder my daily usage but they can be annoying. Overall a solid laptop with great performance.

Awesome laptop... but terrible sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think this is one powerful laptop that can handle majority of professional/personal tasks and will last you for awhile. After updating all the drives and BIOS it's running fantastic. Really fast boot up no freeze up or anything bad that I heard about. My only issue is the speaker/sound... this is my 2nd replacement and they both seems to suffer from cheap speaker sound with static/crackles time to time. I have done in depth research on this issue and I disabled MaxxSense in Dell Audio as well as Wave MaxxAudio Service Application & HD Audio Background Process in startup menu. Nothing seems to help my issue on these speaker. Perfect compact power house laptop with the crappiest sound/speakers... I guess we can't win 'em all :(

Smoking fast laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great display and super fast boot up with the solid state drive. Only real complaints are with the keyboard and the touchpad. The keyboard keys are too flat for a good tactile feel and the raised nubs on the "F" & "J" keys are too small to really be of help in locating the home position of your fingers on the keyboard without looking. The keyboard touchpad is so touchy that the cursor is always flying somewhere you didn't intend. Also there is no visible demarcation of the buttons at the bottom of the touchpad so it's easy to hit them when you don't intend. Best bet is just to forget the touchpad and buy a mouse.

Cutting Edge Laptop meets expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop from Best Buy to replace my XPS 9530 (Same screen, similiar but older spec). It has hit the mark in every way. The touchpad is much improved. With the right windows/Dell updates, it runs like a charm. Its fast. The infinity display makes a large difference. A few things: This laptop isn't for everyone. If you don't want to deal with drivers of new technology (PCIe SSD for instance), there are other machines. If size/weight doesn't matter as much, there are cheaper machines (even by dell) which work fine for most uses. This laptop is a multimedia powerhouse, with the best display on the market, fastest SSD ever made and powerful performance with a form factor that will fit tight spaces more like a 14" and be comfortable in a business environment.

Didn't get the little things right
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this computer about a month ago and it's becoming unbearable to use. For its price, I would expect much more. It's a beast, but it somehow gets the easy things wrong. Pros: 1.Small body for a 15 inch computer 2.Nice keyboard 3.Pretty screen 4. Powerful guts Cons: 1. Biggest complaint: The sound is absolutely HORRIBLE. Out of the box it comes with Dell's audio software enabled called MaxxAudio. It makes it louder but anything past about 30% volume makes it crackle and distort. Not to mention the speakers are on the bottom so it will sound muffled no matter what. Disabling MaxxAudio makes it a little better but you give up volume. 2. Mouse and trackpad lag. It seems like whenever the computer has to think while you're using the mouse, there's a half-second lag whether it's just two finger scrolling on the internet, or gaming. It drives me nuts. It's made gaming on this computer pointless which defeats the purpose of the nice graphics card. 3. I really loved the "infinity edge" display when I first got the computer, and it's what allows the frame to be so small, but in practice it's really annoying since it's a touch screen. It's impossible to adjust the angle of the screen without accidentally closing your browser window or pausing your video. 4. Webcam is below the screen. If you never Skype then this isn't a huge deal but it's really weird if you do. You'll be looking way above the other person's head for the whole conversation and if you use the keyboard while you're talking it will look like giant spiders are invading. 5. I may still need to play with some settings but even though the computer goes to sleep after 15 minutes, it can't hold a charge overnight. Opening the lid, it takes 6 seconds for the screen to turn on which isn't very impressive. Hopefully there's a fix for this as I've yet to see any benefit of the SSD. Overall, I've been very underwhelmed by this computer since they didn't seem to get the little things right. Don't be starstruck by the specs since it's really the day-to-day things that you'll notice.

Great piece
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.great piece -highly recommend to all. Have had it for a week and so far it exceeds expectations! No issues what so ever. I typically buy and hold on to my laptops for a minimum of 7 years, so I wanted a top-of-the-line laptop. Beautiful, fast , great graphics and a joy to work with. I understand that Best Buy sales reps do not sell for a commission, so generally their recommendations are genuine and they highly recommended this - so far they have not disappointed me.

Great! But update the BIOS/Windows 10 first...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything is pretty stable with the latest updates (to BIOS/Windows 10), so make sure you do that first. I'm switching to this from a 15" rMBP, due to 1TB of SSD being much cheaper on here, and the XPS15 actually letting you replace the SSD/RAM/battery/wifi card, incase anything goes wrong. I have Linux (Ubuntu) dual booted, and about 500GB of software libraries on the SSD. This computer is amazing, and the build quality isn't far from my 15" rMBP, in fact I actually prefer the XPS-15 over it..

constant blue screens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.biggest problem is a week wasted trying to avoid constant blue screen of death shutdowns. Photoshop a few years old won't work with 4k screen unless you hack it, and bridge is a no go, you need lightroom. Screen shiny glare. No display port so need usb-c adapter, usb-c docking stations not common. Batterylife mediocre (4-5 hrs?). Returning monday after a frustrating week. When working it is a sleek machine. For $2300 it should be.

What a waste of money... Seriously Dell??
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went out looking for the highest quality and performance I could find, so I landed on the XPS 15 9550. Out of the box, the display driver crashes constantly. I've waited a week worth of updates... still crashes repeatedly. Day one... SSD Crashed (it's a solid state... wasn't caused by a drop# Restarted the laptop a couple times and finally it recognized the SSD Day seven... Still plagued by display driver crashes, only one other SSD crash since the first one... still unacceptable. When plugged in, the screen has a very noticeable flicker. You can see a very fast flickering especially on websites with a white background. Will nearly make you sick. 9 - 17hrs of battery life is what you'll find on specs... FURTHEST FROM THE TRUTH On a FULL CHARGE the lie-o-meter by the clock says 9:38 remaining. Set a stopwatch and watch it drop to 7% within 2 hours. This is using ONE APPLICATION #Google Chrome). Just web browsing, nothing intense... UNREAL!! Applications are not fully compatible with the wonderful new screen resolution. I bought this laptop for business... half of my business applications are totally unreadable because of their size on the display. It does have great graphics, but scaling them down tends to make all the font blurry... many of the applications I required this laptop for are virtually useless unless you use a magnifying glass. Overall... maybe it's just ahead of it's time, but I think the specs are seriously overrated for this machine. I'm planning to take this machine back as soon as I figure out how to remove all my information from it.

Professional Laptop for Motion Graphics & Film
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am in love with this laptop. It has a quad-core i7 "skylake" processor with a Nvidia graphics card. I downloaded and installed Adobe After Effects on this machine and it works like a charm. It renders everything smoothly and effectively. I would definitely recommend this for novice and professional motion graphics artists
