Awesome laptop. I was in the market for a new laptop to get a little more ooomph for my virtual machines. I'm a network engineer by trade and I use a lot of vmware vm's to emulate routers and switches. I really didn't need a 4k display to be honest but I fell in love with it when I played with the display model. Brought it home and immediately got online and ordered 32Gb of Ram to max it out for work. Not much of a gamer these days but loaded up a couple games to enjoy the ability to play at high settings on the display. So far no issues. Love the specs. Previous machine was a Mac Book Pro, sorry Apple but no touch screen, high price for mediocre specs? Had to move on. I could go into more detail about this machine but if you are looking at a $2000+ laptop you already know.

    Good MacBook Pro Alternative

Pros: Great 4K Screen, Keyboard, Trackpad, Build Quality, Bang for the buck Cons: Speakers, Front Camera Neutral: Battery Life When I heard about the XPS 15 I was hopeful, but reluctant. Then I saw the Surface Book and was like "Just take my Money". I was able to get the Surface Book on day one at Best Buy. After 2 weeks I was like "Give me my Money back". The SB is a good Laptop, buy too many bugs and I question the longevity of the base connector. Too many issues all over the net. However using the the SB in tablet mode sold me on large tablets, so I purchased a iPad Pro to replace that function. Back to the XPS 15. Let me get the negatives out of the way. Speakers are at the front facing down. It is fine when it is on a desk, but when the laptop is on your lap the sound is very muffled. Nowhere near as clear as my MacBook Pro 15 speakers. Front camera quality is fine, but it is a chin camera. I get that there is no place to put it on top due to the Infinity Display. The battery life is better than I thought it would be. I tried the first generation XPS 13 and was sadly disappointed with the battery life and trackpad. I can't get the 10 hrs Dell claims, but I did get on average between 6.5-7 hrs of mixed productivity apps and YouTube. The screen is very bright even at 18%. 4K videos look great! All the reviews rave about the Surface Book trackpad is most like a MacBook, but I disagree, I think the XPS trackpad is closer to the MacBook. It is so much better than the last generation XPS 13. The build quality is great. The carbon fiber is smooth and a joy to type on. The Laptop is just as solid as a MacBook. This Laptop is a powerhouse that easily competes with a MacBook, yup it's fast. The 1 TB version is cheaper at Best Buy than ordering from Dell by $400. In summary I have a 2013 MPB 15 and the 2015 Skylake Dell XPS 15. Both are great machines, however if I had to chose one I would choose the MacBook Pro 15, but if you are like me and need or want a Win 10 Machine I believe this is the best Windows laptop out, much better than the Surface Book that everyone is raving about.

My model is the 1TB NVMe SSD with larger battery and 4k display. First of all let me say the first laptop I got had its GPU fried a day after I had it. This was after I transferred all my stuff and lost all my files, since who has an m.2 stick adapter? But Best Buy replaced it right away for me and I ran all sorts of stress tests on the new one to make sure it was not the model. I'm extremely happy with this laptop. The price was quite hefty with the 1tb model because that size for NVMe is top of the line at this point, but I needed the storage and I wanted the larger battery. The battery life is not what is advertised, but I was fully aware of that before buying. I'm still super impressed that I can use it in low power for up to 7 hours, and it is a very small form-factor too. The 4k display is gorgeous, but the glossyness can be annoying (though I'm pretty sure 4k matte displays don't even exist for laptops at this point). I travel a lot and this laptop is sure to be a great companion on the run (can run civ 5 on the integrated gpu for like 4/5 hours!)

Great performance for the price. Good processor, more than enough memory, a nice graphics card and all with a touch screen. And weighs less than 4 pounds.

I use a Surface Book for work and love it but could not justify the high cost of buying one for a new home laptop. After a lot of research, the XPS 15 appeared to be a good alternative. The 4k resolution is beautiful and the infinity edge screen is fantastic. The computer is very fast and feels snappier than my Surface Book with i7 inside. I saved about $1,000 buying this XPS vs. a similarly configured Surface Book. The only con is the way the XPS eats battery, quickly draining in under 3 hours but that is to be expected when driving a 4K screen with all the power inside. The battery issue is a small price to pay for a great laptop that will always be close to a power source at home. If you need better battery because you are more mobile then avoiding the 4K options or choosing the XPS 13 are probably in your best interest.

I love that the computer comes up and is running in under a minute, often under 30 seconds. And the touch screen makes navigation smoother and quicker.

I had purchased an XPS 13" with all the bells and whistles this 15 has and loved it but then the XPS 15" came out and I had to have one. I like the bigger screen for working and the overall feel of the laptop and the keyboard and pad. After about 3 weeks, I did have to return the 1st one though because the screen had developed some weird ghosting thingy. I don't know if this is a common problem or not but my 2nd one is working well so far and Best Buy was graciously great about making an exchange. I'd give it a 5 star but it'd have to do everything I'd ever wish for at half the price and weight.

The Dell XPS15 is the best laptop I've ever owned. The processor is super fast, it has tons of memory to run multiple applications, and the storage capacity is great. I got the i7 with 16GB and 1 TB SSD. I love the touch screen and the 4k resolution looks great but non-4k content and apps look terrible. The machine is future-proof and content will catch up soon.

Super fast, durable 15" laptop with long lasting battery. The screen is beautiful as Dell has redesigned the 4K to include the new infinity bezel.

I purchased this laptop to use both as a personal and professional computer. It is the model that provided the power and capacity I needed at an affordable price. I like the infinity edge touch screen a lot. My suggestions would be for Dell to place the camera at top of the screen instead of the bottom, the vent grill on the sides, the speakers on the top and a security button that is similar to the round on / off button placed at top corner. I did not get this feature as it looks as a last minute add-on. I would have liked the 2-in-1 tablet mode but it was not available in the XPS 15. Overall the laptop works well, is very fast and the backlit keyboard is a nice feature.

Not quite "ultrabook" thin, but still pretty small. Great display. Most modern games (Fallout 4, etc) will play at 1080p with medium settings and 60 fps. Upgrading the RAM to 32gb is well worth it.

I bought this computer because it has good processing speed and hopefully will meet my needs throughout the remainder of my doctoral program. Only issue is that the tracking area is a tad sensitive.

This laptop is simply awesome. I love the edge to edge screen, I was looking for a laptop with top specs and this one fit the bill, I have to say it's not lacking anything. I know it's a bit pricey compaired to some others out there, but you pretty much get what you pay for. You won't go wrong with this one, I know I just love it!

A couple of issues first, the wireless will sometimes stop working and have to reconnect/trouble shoot it. hasn't done it lately though. I always have to reset the display with hooking up my office monitor to it and then change it back again when using the laptop alone. This is a true pain in the "But" but I believe it's pretty common with 4k or high def laptop displays, really not sure but it's still a pain to have change the display setting each time. I use this for business and travels from my office to home everyday. At work I have it hooked up to a Dell dock station so it stays closed and tucked away all day while I work. Through my dock I have connected HDMI to my Samsung 24" display, along with external speakers, passport backup drive and external wireless keyboard & mouse, with a few ports left to use. Very seldom do I have any issues worth noting. At home I use it on my desk with no docking station. It's a bit pricey but love the speed and display and pretty much everything else about it. You won't go wrong.

Been comparing this laptop with Lenovo X1 Carbon, Yoga, and HP Spectre. This laptop rocks, construction is very sleek and machined well. Out of all the laptops this has the wider screen for a 15 inch laptop. Bezel is barely noticeable. Fast, touchscreen and thin. Now the cons: The camera is at the bottom left and as one of the reviews said "...the camera is looking up your nose..." I guess you have to sacrifice the screen width and have the camera in an unfortunate spot. Lastly, Dell touchpad has always been hard to keep shiny and clean. It starts fading from the oil in your fingers. Best of all: I originally asked for the 13 inch version and was told they had an open box 15 inch version that was just returned. I saw the date and wasn't that old. I was able to get the price down to more than half the retail price or what they were asking for.
