One word best describes this laptop. WOW. I use it for photo and video editing, web surfing, business applications and lately, it got me back into 3D gaming (not sure that's a great thing...lol). I needed a lot of portable computing power for one of many custom programs I use for work. Rather than wait for my employer to replace my work laptop - still a year or two down the road - I decided to find a laptop of my own to replace the iMac I was using at home, and that I could bring to work and/or travel with. There are plenty of capable options out there but this one is generally thinner, lighter, more beautiful, and has all of the latest tech inside. With the completely solid state drive it's also utterly silent unless I play a 3D game, in which case the fan (fans?) can be heard but still aren't very loud. Glad I spent the extra money on it. The display is STUNNING and on the desk at home, it drives a large 4K monitor.I can play any game at frame rates plenty fast for me, edit and encode large videos quickly, or run seven or eight business applications at a time without a hiccup. I don't really use the web cam so it's placement doesn't matter to me.

Have Dell desktops and MacBook Pros, needed a Windows laptop and its fits nicely. Boots quickly with 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM. Not a fan of Windows 10, transitioning workflow from version 7 Pro. Keyboard has a great touch. Plus the fast USB C port is a great capability. The only problem has been the Windows authentication. It was an open box and that may have contributed to the authenticatin issue.

Love it, super fast. Compact. Pleasant to use. Battery seems to last a long time with correct power settings. Like the touch screen feature. I would buy another one if needed.

I took a chance on this laptop, I had been looking at some other upper end laptops, but wouldn't pull the trigger, I found this one open box at a great deal, and gave it a chance, my only complaint is it needs more ports. Other than that a fingerprint scanner would be nice. Nice screen, super fast, if it meets your needs I don't think you will be dissapointed

Given that I was looking for a laptop to process photos (large file sizes) with Adobe Creative Cloud, I needed a powerful computer with an excellent screen. This laptop has not only met but exceeded all my expectations. It easily & quickly processes the large files while the outstanding monitor displays the detail and color of the photographs beautifully. I could not be more pleased with this purchase!!!! I highly recommend this laptop for amateur and pro photographers!

First off, this computer runs fast and runs well, but what everyone on here said is absolutely true, the screen has a distinct red/pink hue to it that I just cannot seem to resolve. I use a pair of Samsung monitors for work and after their pure crisp whites looking at this is almost a little startling, the only issue I have had thus far.

powerful computer with a beautiful screen, seems solid. Battery life is a bit less than expected, and a lot of apps haven't made the grade for 4k yet - surprisingly including tools like Adobe which are supposed to be cutting edge. Great computer if you need the resolution and the power, pricey and too much power otherwise.

I am a great fan of mac, but Dell xps has change my view. It is a great machine. Thou i had some issue with the display driver software failure. Dell customer support fix it effectively. I'm very happy with the size and the build also.

This machine was everything I hoped for - fast, great graphics including for photos, large screen size for size and large amount of storage. I travel a lot so very happy it fits nicely into my backpack and briefcase. Also very easy to hook up to docking station when not traveling. Two wishes to consider: 1) wish weight was a bit lighter - but manageable; 2) wish it had 1 more USB port. Hope this helps. Cheers

Love this laptop. It is stylish, fast, lightweight, large monitor and much more. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the thunderbolt dock available at time of purchase. Now I wait for Dell to release it.

This Laptop is the best there is on market in terms of computing power, tech specs and also importantly design and form factor. The Geforce card can comfortably drive the 4k screen, but windows/windows apps are not all ready with 4k support and can be difficult to use, I set the resolution to 1080P. But Fedora 25 and its apps work perfectly at 4K. The edge to edge screen makes it one of the smallest available laptop in terms of form factor, though I feel it is slightly heavier than my MacBook Pro.

I wanted something that was more "carry friendly" than my 17" Dell Inspiron laptop. This fit the bill nicely. With it being the world's smallest 15" laptop computer, I got the screen size I wanted and the portability I needed.

This is a great Dell laptop. I bought it to replace my HP Pavilion HPE desktop and it hasn't disappointed. The screen resolution is the best I saw when comparing laptops in-store and the solid-state drive makes start-up and shut down fast. It's reasonably light-weight for on the go, but the higher resolution screen takes a toll on the battery life. Overall its a great replacement for a desktop.

Overall I really liked this machine. The trackpad was the best out of several different machines I tried. The monitor also had the best picture compared to microsoft surface book, and lenovo yoga 900 and yoga 700. I opted for the yoga 900 though due to it's light weight and I really like the 180 degree hinge on the yoga 900. I found myself trying to push the xps 15 monitor past the point the hinge would let me, but I use the laptop for mobile programming of automation systems so my needs are somewhat unique. If this machine was to spend 75% of it's time on my desk not 25% on my desk I would have been a no brainer to go with the xps 15 over the yoga 900.

A high end machine with some minor quirks

I picked up this laptop a couple weeks ago and have been using it daily. When I brought it home, the very first thing I did was update the BIOS, GPU, and audio drivers to their newest versions. Here are my (fairly detailed and verbose) thoughts: Screen: This was the one thing that worried me about purchasing this laptop. I have seen the pictures, and read all the posts about a red-shift on the 4k screen. Upon first boot, I noticed it immediately. Yes, there is a rather ugly red shift on a black background. However, there's a caveat to this; It's only really noticeable when the brightness is above 50% and at some crazy angles. Once you get the brightness at 75% and higher, you can see it at some minor angles. However, I use 15-30% brightness on this screen in my house, which seems to be plenty, and I don't notice any problems. The screen is absolutely FANTASTIC. My one and only complaint is the over-saturation of the reds. Anything in the "normal" end of the red spectrum looks great, but when something is bright red or orange, it almost looks neon. Coming from my Yoga 2 Pro, which couldn't even display the color yellow properly, I don't even mind. The IGZO panel on the XPS 15 is the best screen I've seen in a laptop. My Samsung TV is the only other panel in my house that can match the wide color gamut of the XPS' panel. As for ghosting, it's minor, and it's not crazy noticeable while playing games. I think it's comparable to any IPS display. Keyboard: The spacebar is very mildly spongy in the middle. It's really not a big deal, unless you're obsessed about absolute perfection with your keys. I have had zero issues with it, and the keyboard hasn't caused me a single mistype. I find the key travel very good, and the feedback is far superior to my Lenovo. Trackpad: Hands down, the BEST Windows laptop trackpad I've ever laid my fingers on. It's an absolute joy to use. I almost always use a mouse anyway, but with this, I've not been bothered by using the trackpad. I have no issues with it recording any of my movements, and my two and three finger presses register on the first time, every time. I've never had a trackpad behave so loyally before. SSD performance: Blazing. I do have the issue where after sleep, the performance of the SSD is cut in half. I was able to remedy this by installing Samsung's AHCI drivers and booting the laptop in AHCI mode. I once got the issue on on boot where it said something about no hard drive found, but if you just continue, it boots fine. BSOD: The only one I've ever had is from when I tried booting in AHCI the first time (tip: You need to boot into safe mode the first time). That's it. Not a single one since. CPU throttle after disconnect AC: Yup, it's an issue, but Dell is working on it. For now, I've disabled Intel SmartStep in the BIOS, and the problem is gone. Speakers: Pretty terrible. I don't know how else to say it. I tried disabling the Dell Audio stuff, but then the speakers are way too quiet. I still haven't found a configuration that sounds good. The sound is very tinny and makes me cringe to listen to music on these speakers. I very rarely use speakers on laptops though, as I'm usually using headphones alone, and when I'm working on music production, I'm using high ohm headphones with an AMP/DAC combo. I'm not willing to dock a star off of this because of the terrible speakers, but for some people, it might matter. Noise: For the most part, it runs very quiet, and when playing games, it's a bit louder, but doesn't sound like it's going to take off for flight. I'm very impressed. I haven't noticed any squeaking noises or coil whine on my machine either. Gaming: I don't have any of the current titles like Fallout 4 or GTA V to play with, but I did test Tomb Raider (2013) and Sim City 5 (Sim City), and I am absolutely blown away with how capable the GTX 960M is. I was able to run Tomb Raider in 1080p on Ultra settings (no hair TressFX) at around 47-55 FPS. I was even able to turn on TressFX and maintain 35-45 FPS. It played so smoothly, I honestly couldn't believe it. I'm not sure what else to say here. I was really shocked. Sim City ran fine at 1080p on a combination of High/Ultra settings at about 40 FPS, but I didn't play it as long as I did Tomb Raider. Fit, Finish, and Design: It's beautiful. Everything about it looks nice, from the aluminum to the carbon fiber to the "infinity" display. It looks and feels very premium, and I was actually surprised with how light the XPS 15 really is. Coming from a 3lb Lenovo, that's really saying something. I was worried when I read comments about the weight being a little heavy (but nothing crazy). But holy moly, have you SEEN the old XPS laptops? Those were monsters. Other Stuff: I saw a review on here that said you couldn't use Bluetooth and WiFi together and thought it was ridiculous, but sure enough, I tested it, and you can't. I thought I had it working, then the BT dropped the connection when I turned on WiFi again. I don't even know if this a common problem or not, as I don't generally use Bluetooth on my laptops, but it does seem to be a frustrating issue for those who would want to do this. I was directed to a setting for the wifi/bluetooth card called "Bluetooth Collaboration". Apparently, if you set this to Disable, it works fine. I haven't tested it. Overall, I'm incredibly impressed with this machine. I don't usually buy laptops of this caliber because of the price, but I always end up unhappy with something, and in the case of my Lenovo, a LOT of things. The XPS 15 marks all my checkboxes. Quad core, powerful, fast SSD, beautiful screen, 15.6", light weight, great keyboard and trackpad, and can handle some moderate to fairly high end gaming. I think this will keep me happy for at least 3 years, if not more. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's not for everybody. This is a very "early-adopter" item, and there are a few driver issues with new hardware that will likely be ironed out by Dell very quickly. There's still nothing like it on the market, save for the new MacBook Pros coming out, but those will set you back a lot more dough. I don't understand other reviewers giving this machine 1 or 2 stars because of a couple small issues. It doesn't make sense to me. The XPS 15 isn't perfect, but if someone can show me a perfect laptop currently available (spoiler: there isn't one), I'll be happy to adjust this to 4 stars. :)
