I purchased a MacBook Pro, used it heavily for 10 days. I was surprised by a couple of crashes and it's lack of true multitasking. MacBook Pro was returned.
Purchased a Lenovo i7 laptop (forgot model number), used it heavily for 2 days, multiple crashes, lots of driver updates. 4k display was a waste of money since most apps look silly on it. Returned item.
Purchased this Dell after lots of research and I am very happy. I did however turn the display from its native 2k setting to standard 1080 so I can use my Adobe Suite effectively. Windows 8.1 works FANTASTIC, I have no idea what people are whining about. After a few setting changes it looks/run great. This laptop runs silent until I do something heavy then the fans kick on. The carbon fiber base keeps heat isolated and vents efficiently. I can keep lots of apps/browsers open and sleep/awake without any problems. Touch pad works ok, I hate hunting for the left/right clicks. The touch sensitivity is smooth and comparable to the MacBook Pro.
Battery life is awsome, not as long as the Macbook but the Macbook is using a small (in my opinion) toyish type of OS with many barriers. It is understandable that the Windows OS uses more power due to the flexibility and accessibility to power users such as myself.
This laptop is highly recommended. Applications currently in use
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- InDesign
- Dreamweaver
- Premier
- Office Suite
- Ableton Live 9
- Skype
- Lots of browsers

Sleek design. Touchscreen is great. Colors are vivid. Not too heavy. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Del XPS 15 (2014) is an excellent machine with high resolution display and latest processor. The only cons for this laptop are are lack of ethernet port, color coding of usb ports (both usb 2.0 and 3.0 are of the same color) and lot of underutilized space beneath the keyboard, an additional row of keys and bigger functional keys would be much better.
