I bought this to replace an aging 15 year old Onkyo which still worked but lacked features of modern receivers such as higher bit rates and the ability to play music directly from your phone. This Denon receiver sure doesn't disappoint. I really liked the ease of setup. After 15-30 minutes I was setup and ready to go. With the old Onkyo I had to input the distance each speaker was to the main seating area. With the Denon you setup the included mic on either a tripod or the cardboard stand they provide and place it on 6 different positions on your couch. After a series of beeps from each speaker at each position the receiver is perfectly calibrated and it sounds fantastic. (That being said you do need to connect an HDMI cable to the receiver and connect it to your TV in order to do the automated setup.)
Some things that I do want to point out:
1) This receiver mainly relies on HDMI inputs for sound input. The only other inputs are one digital coax and two toslink connections. This may not matter to you if you just use HDMI for all your sound needs but I prefer to separate the audio from my video to minimize video lag during gaming so I'm relying on the toslink connections (see below).
2) Speaking of the toslink connections this is probably the one main gripe I have about the receiver. The toslink inputs, at least on my receiver, don't hold the toslink cables in particularly well. A minor bump can dislodge the cables (even if you accidentally bump the cable as your plugging another one right next to it) so if you plan on using toslink connections with this receiver be gentle when moving it around. That being said they are working for me so far so as long as you don't plan on moving the receiver around too much and don't mind the mild irritation of plugging the toslink cables back in when you need to see something on the back of the receiver than you should be fine.

As other reviewers have mentioned, quality control seems to be lacking at Denon. GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY—you’ll make up for the expense of it by getting Best Buy to price match any better deals you may find—then go through the ease of swapping it out beyond the warranty period, should the unit fail.
I bought the Denon AVRS 730H as a replacement to a Denon AVR3000 purchased in the 90’s with no HDMI inputs, went through all the steps to set up the receiver, connect the speakers and devices, and used the Audyssey microphone to optimize sound settings for various parts of the room—THEN discovered the receiver itself was defective, after almost an hour with Denon technical support while attempting to set up WiFi; the receiver could not find our home network, despite attempting to connect via iOS device and manually scanning for WiFi to a router less than two feet away. (It did connect via hard wire, thereby defeating the WiFi aspect of the unit.) Had it not been for the trouble of disconnecting everything, returning the unit, then re-installing speakers, devices, sound optimization, and WiFi setup, this receiver would have gotten 5 stars.
Everything works well, including WiFi, and it simply sounds astonishingly good—even at lower volumes, the dialogue in the center speaker comes in clearly, and Airplay works well from all of our Apple devices...I’m looking forward to getting Helios speakers to see how well that works, too

Very satisfied with this receiver. We switched from an older Pioneer unit. The upgrade has been well worth it. Much better connections and more reliable. Haven’t used the Heos feature but the sound on this receiver compared to our previous one is much better. This is using the Definive Tech 1000 speakers. Overall, a very good value, great sound, functionality plus full 4K HDR passthrough.

I was searching for a 5.1 channel receiver that could handle 4k input and I came across this Denon 7.2 channel in the same price range. I couldn't be happier. I am running an Xbox One X, Tivo Bolt and a LG OLED through this receiver and outputting to a Polk speaker system. The sound and picture quality are amazing.

This is my third Denon over the years. I got this one to go with my 4K TV. I will have to say it is a great match. It was easy to set up. The tv and denon will just let you know what to do step by step.

We retired and moved to our new house. Our sound system for the entertainment center was over a decade old so we shopped for a new one. This one was a display model and a very good price. The features were outstanding. We did the install quickly and love the sound quality. I especially like the app on my iPad that can control the amp plus play music via Bluetooth.

Purchased the receiver, took it home and set it up. Played great was very happy. Came back home a few weeks later and the unit would not play. Contacted Denom and was discussed by their customer service. Contacted Best Buy and the were excellent

Easy setup, and easier use - the Denon has turned my basement into a true MEDIA room - the 5.1 surround sound has been beautiful. Would probably spring for the 4K enabled version if I had a 4K to hook up to. ;)

Excellent performance and feature set, two year manufacturers warranty! Easy and intuitive setup. I now own the S930H and S730H models with no complaints so far. Mostly used for home theater watching, sports, regular tv and streaming (Netflix, etc). Haven’t done much critical music listening...

I am enjoying this receiver. Setup was painless, and I am happy with the number of connections and glad this receiver does not have any overly complicated number of input options. Most inputs these days are HDMI, and that's all I needed in a receiver, it saves on weight and reduced receiver size. There is a quick connect guide, but if you have ever connected any electronic device, the setup should be easy. This receiver sounds great. It replaces an older Onkyo NR-808. I switched to the Denon because of the great reviews, and I am not disappointed.

I've been buying Dennon receivers for the past 25 years and they usually make a great product. This is no exception. It integrates well with my smart TV and is easily controlled by the television. This is a great choice for a modest home theater system

A very powerful receiver that was very easy to setup. Great price at that. Also works very well with my 4k projector an XBX1 and PS4 Pro.
