I think the sound is great from this receiver. I just wish the documentation was better for setting up the surround sound for all the possible devices. The initial setup was easy. The onscreen guide was easy to follow. The troubleshooting was not good. Had to look online for a guide and even that didn't help to get surround sound for the TV through the receiver.

I got this unit for around $200 in store.
I am definitely considered an audio geek with some background in pro-audio.
It gets the job done for sure. It could use some EQ mixing out of the box. The bluetooth function is great, I can seamlessly connect to my phone while playing xbox one. Which is really awesome since there is not a spotify music app for xbox (a huge complaint in the gaming community). *you do not hear the game in this mode though, just what ever is playing via blue tooth.
The best part is the receiver menu and options are displayed on what ever monitor/TV you are connected to.
I have a feeling the more expensive units probably give out some better sound, but for the average listener, if I had the extra money I'd probably go with the same brand but slightly more power.

Very easy to set up using full 5.1 system. When first starting, plug in all speakers and TV then turn on the receiver and a setup will walk you through the entire set up process. I used the microphone that was included to fully calibrate the speakers. It sounds great!
I use my PlayStation 4, Chromecast, and Uverse TV with no issues. Also, connecting your phone to the bluetooth was extremely easy.

I bought to replace a broken mid range older onkyo for the family home theater. Easy set up, easy to operate even for the kids, good sound with enough power for movies etc. In my haste to replace the old unit, I did not notice that this DOES NOT HAVE A NETWORK CONNECTION. Nevertheless, for a low cost solution, I think it's tough to beat this.

This item was recommended by an employee at Best Buy instead of the one I originally had intended to purchase. I am glad I listened. The setup was not difficult and the sound is very good. Be sure to read instructions, As my mother used to say "if all else fails read the directions". I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Purchased a similar priced Yamaha receiver and couldn't get the power I needed. Was bought to run in a store powering 8 high end in-ceiling speakers. Yamaha would cut out but this unit would crank it up. Stereo feed was ran to switch and sent to speakers. This unit has all the power you would need for a decent home theater.

Great sound output. Nice and clear, really making shows where the actors mumble a lot, like the walking dead, a lot more enjoyable. It also makes action movies sound just like I'm at a movie theater.
Only ding on the receiver is the HDMI is not ARC, so you'll need an optical cord to pass sound from the TV (ie: netflix app on the TV) to the receiver.

My receiver gave out. It was an old old one that had a DVD player in it that had not worked for a long time and also a VCR. I had not heard of this brand but the salesman told me it was an excellent one. He was right. The sound quality is so much better and it was easy to hook up and use.

Needed to replace an old Kenwood 5.1 receiver. The Denon fit the bill. Easy to set up and provides excellent sound. I reallt like the bluetooth capabilities. The only knock for me is that i had to also purchase a new sub woofer as mine was incompatible.

I have ceiling mounted speakers that were powered by a 10 year old Denon. When I purchased the new 4K UHD tv, I knew it was time to upgrade this as well. Extremely easy to set up, and it such an improvement. Would recommend it for any similar environment.

My previous unit, also a Denon did not support Bluetooth, and did not decode audio in hdmi cables. This unit was much easier to set up, and works great. My only issue is that the directv remote does not support the unit well, and I have to use the Denon remote for volume.

Great Receiver! Very easy setup! Love the Bluetooth so I can play music off my phone. Nice having multiple HDMI connections. Great price also! This unit replaced an older different brand receiver. I now use my surround all the time. Great purchase!

Great setup, easy to use, sounds great, and best of all it works. I had an issue with two other receivers giving me a half second of no picture every few minutes when I tried to use Chromecast and HDMI out to the TV. Everything works with this.

This Denon unit replaced my previous Denon receiver, purchased in 2001. I am excited to have the Bluetooth capability, which enables me to play my phone audio through the system. The set-up microphone that automatically balanced the speakers in the room was really cool, too! It's great to have the HDMI inputs on this new unit, but in order to make all of my connections work (TV, Blu-Ray, CD changer, cable box), I could not do what the instructions indicated for set-up. I needed to connect digital audio out from my TV to close the circuits and make surround sound work from multiple inputs. That's probably a function of my TV more than the receiver. Instruction manual could have been more complete, too, for troubleshooting when connections did not all work the first time.

Needed a new surround sound amp. My old one was 15 years old and the left channels no longer worked and it did not have HDMI inputs. Did some research before I bought this Denon that was on sale at Best Buy. The Denon was easy to setup with my existing speakers. I set it up on the cinema mode and it sounds great. Turned on the FM tuner on Christmas morning to play Christmas music.

I bought this unit to replace a smaller 5.1 Magnavox/ DVD unit that had died. I already had all the speakers and powered sub. Hook-up was simple, and the web site made fine tuning easy. The sound is GREAT !

Nice receiver. Hooked up in den for PlayStation 4, PS VR and Klipsch RM-14 speakers and sub. Clear sound, easy and fast set up. A more bright and clear sound than with me Sony and Onkyo receivers even when I hook up the same speakers. Only downside it does not have internet connection therefore upgrading firmware is via sneaker-net. Does have Bluetooth IOS remote app for phone which slightly makes up for it. All I needed for an extra system and s good price.

Auto setup was a breeze. It gets nice and loud. The Bluetooth work well with the computer and phone. There are plenty of inputs for our needs. The speaker terminals leave something to be desired.

My old receiver cost 3 times the more than this one did. Very easy to use and worth the money, setting up your speakers with the mic/onscreen set=up makes anything you have sound great.
