very good for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just upgraded to this from my 5 year old 600 dollar pioneer (1021k)....This reciever has very good sound maybe better than my pioneer..sure it doesnt have a zone 2 and also spring clips but i can deal with that...The bluetooth works great along with the denon app for basic features such as volume..switching imputes...etc.(remember bluetooth is not a very far range and will lose threw walls)...I have read reviews about the picture being washed out untill you do the update..but that was not my case all looks great...I dont have 4k so i cant comment on that..also this has a 2 year warranty unlike pioneer

Descided to give it Gave 5 stars
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love music when it sounds good. I also am a musician and heard many sound systems Hi End to budget systems. My ears have years of experience with sound, tone and quality. I also like simplicity if at all possible when dealing with regular home units because my wife does not like switching 5 buttons to accomplish 1 task. With all that, I settled on giving this Denon unit a go. Using it for my home sound system I wanted to have good sound to listen to recordings and also pro recordings to hear the difference. This unit gave me very much that. When you set it up, it sounds sweet, controlled, clear and no coloration. You hear what you put in and if there is a difference in the source, it will let you have it. All in all, it sounds very pleasing and for me, very much true to it's source. Now, the simple stuff. I was SO PLEASE that if you clicked on Cable, the unit will do the same thing as the sound, what you put in is what you get out. ALSO, if you shut off this unit, it will stay on the input through to the TV. So you don't need the receiver on to watch the TV cable by itself. Very cool ! The Bluetooth needs to be set up and the unit will automatically turn on if you have a Bluetooth device known to the receiver nearby. I have to say, this is a very good unit so far and I would recommend it to anyone looking for great audio, easy set up and ease of use.

Amazing how this has worked out for me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally had gone to Best Buy to get a Pioneer 5.1 receiver to connect my 3.1 setup. They had only one Pioneer 5.1 in store, and that was earmarked for another customer who was due in the store any moment. The store did have this Denon model, and even though it was 5.2 and I didn't think I needed that 2nd subwoofer line, it was only slightly more expensive than the Pioneer I had looked at, and had comparable performance specs and customer ratings. So I went ahead and purchased it. I had never had a receiver before, but the Denon has been remarkably user friendly, and it's customability is amazing. Not only that, but I noticed that my picture quality for both my Blu-ray player and DirecTV receiver seemed to be boosted. As it turned out, I needed and wanted a 2nd subwoofer, so purchasing the Denon turned out to be a good deal. If I have one complaint, it's that my Xbox seems incapable of hooking up to the receiver and sending video to my tv. But given how old the Xbox technology is, I can't really fault the Denon design for this, though it would have been nice. This unit has worked out very well for me on everything else though.

Impossible to disable on screen volume
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cannot recommend any receiver that does not allow for the option of turning off an on screen volume indicator. Every time you adjust the volume, it pops up on the screen, which is not only distracting, but if you are watching anything with subtitles, it covers them up, which is inexcusable. I contacted Denon, and they confirmed it's not possible.

Shuts down on own
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this receiver and from the beginning this system will shut down in the middle of a movie or while listening to the radio. Disappointed in this purchase.

speaker connections not optimal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You would expect that a brand such as Denon would step up the connection capability for speaker wires to something other than bare wire. My speaker wires have plugs on the ends and they would not fit into the openings. If Sony can do it, come on, you can too.

Great Receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this as an upgrade from my older Onkyo receiver for my downstairs entertainment area. 10 x 20 area approx. The receiver exceeded my expectations. The setup was very easy! The Automatic Speaker Calibration was a bit cumbersome but very effective. The sound is very crisp and I couldn't be more satisfied. This model is the 700W and no WiFi however due to the size of the room and no need for WiFi this was a perfect fit for a very reasonable price.

Excellent Receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was to replace my Yamaha 5.1 surround sound A/V receiver, that I purchased almost exactly three years ago, that just went bad a few weeks ago as well. The sound quality is more in depth and low dialog is much clearer. I'm very impressed and works well with my existing Yamaha speakers that came as a package with the former receiver. Before my purchase, I was deciding whether to buy another Yamaha or the Denon. What sold me was the free app that I could download and control my new receiver via Bluetooth and the 5.2 speaker configuration. I can't wait to purchase an extra subwoofer the I could connect to it which would get more bass for my movies, but the sound is deep enough with just one subwoofer by itself. Furthermore it's an easy setup and couldn't be the price which dropped a week later and was able to take advantage of the Best Buy Price Match Guarantee.

HORRIBLE
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This does not work with our tv (tv is too old). When I tried to return it, I was told I can't because it is no longer in Best Buy's system. DON'T EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM BEST BUY!!!

Denon Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the 2nd Denon Receiver I've owned. It has plenty of power across my 5:1 System. Very User Friendly and works just as well as the previous one with my Logitech Harmony Remote. The Bluetooth Feature works very well and synched to my iPhone with no trouble. Excellent Receiver!

Best AVR for the money hands down.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Every other receiver near the same price point had either less 4K hdmi inputs, inputs that weren't HDCP 2.2 compatible, or no Bluetooth. This receiver has everything you need for a great system in an average living room. Only drawback I can see is the use of spring clips in the back of the unit. This isn't really much of an issue since you should only really be using them once to connect your speaker wires.

OUTSTANDING!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into my local Best Buy store to get an A/V Receiver for a bedroom TV. I saw this Denon and it immediately caught my eye. I knew going in that Denon made a great product, but never purchased them before. This receiver had just what I needed, a great price, two sub connectors, and a USB port if I needed it. I didn't need anything fancy, but this receiver was just right for me and has not given me any trouble what-so-ever.

Great entry level receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great entry level receiver with all of the capabilities for 4k and a good 5.2 system. I run small size speakers and two 12" subs, and this creates amazing sound. I do wish there was more in depth on screen adjustments.

BEAUTIFUL
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Denon receiver is as striking in function as in appearance. Calibrating speakers is new for me, but Denon makes it simple with easy instructions appearing on the television after connecting with HDMI cables. The unit easily handles high wattage speakers and produces crisp, clean sound. I am very pleased with the overall quality.

Affordable replacement for old receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a replacement for a 14 year old Receiver that was obsolete with current HD technology. I was able to purchase this on sale at $50.00 off and this is why I finally chose Denon. It was one of four that I considered from different manufacturers. Set up was easy with the on screen menu and quick at under a half hour. Controls are easy to use and understandable. Was impressed with the difference with both Blu Ray and DVD movies with the audio. Finally have DTS for Blu Ray and the whole room is filled with sounds.
