Blows everything in a similar price range away. Had a Pioneer VSX-524-K with HDCP issues, exchanged it for the Denon. Well worth the extra money.

I bought this reciver to replace my Yamaha (dang cats) let me start by saying I read reviews on the Yamaha reciver that is the same price as this and this has a few better features such as the 4K I believe! But the sound quality wow! I had my old Yamaha with my bose speakers and my two insignia 10" built in amp subs! And this reciver sounds so much better plus for the same price you get 50 more watts and an added sub! Amazing amazing product! the Bluetooth is easy to set up! No more aux cord needed which is also a plus! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this at all!

Beautiful Sound and quick set up

It has brought to life my 20 year old speakers and is producing sound I never had with my old Fisher. It was quick and easy to set up with on TV screen step by step instructions that guide you at each step and confirm the settings are correct. It has a multitude of settings to enhance the audio from whatever method it was recorded in and even listening to some of my old CD's I notice sounds and nuances I have never heard before, and I have a severe loss of hearing. Only time will tell if the product is durable. But, for now I am really enjoying it.

This is the PERFECT receiver for me. My previous receiver was a 500-watt Denon, and it lasted over 14 yrs. I read the reviews where some gave it a "1" when it fizzled out immediately, and others gave it a "5". I can tell you that there are lemons in every electronic product out there, and if you are worried, then BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. It only costs $40 for 4 yrs., and it they can't fix it, they'll replace it. Simple as that. And--oh--since I'm just a 63 YO single mom (widow), I know nothing about electronics, so you'd better believe that I had a Geek Squad tech come by to install it! It was 20% off, and he did a great job--better than I ever could! VERY happy with this purchase! We really missed having noise in the house (I have the radio on all day, until 5 pm).

Great Sound, Easy Excellent Set-up

This receiver completes my total HDMI system architecture. It provides the sound that I have been searching for particularly with streaming HDMI services. The set up with the included microphone was excellent and didn't require any additional tinkering on my part. I also appreciate the very low THD.

I liked the features of this receiver. It was simple to set up and it sounded just fine - given the price I was a happy customer.... or was I? One day I went to turn it on and it did - but then shut back off. Huh?
I decided to press the button again - nothing - dead.
I tried unplugging, let it sit a while, used another wall outlet, checked wall outlets. Nothing.
I read online how sometimes it turns on circuit protection and you have to factory reset and let it sit. So I did.... twice. Nothing.
I looked in the back, no replaceable fuse. Darn.
I didn't get a warranty - so I removed about six screws and lifted the lid. I think I saw three fuses inside - careful without touching anything - I was unsure if there was still a charge with the capacitors lurking about - I checked each fuse - not one was blown.
So after only five months - this receiver is a brick - I don't have the patience to send it off for a repair.
I picked up a new Yamaha as a replacement, with warranty. The Sales rep said - there is a comparable Denon available as well?! No thank you - that brand name is not sitting well with me at the moment.

Would have given 5 stars if it worked

Great receiver, very clean sound at high volumes, excellent picture quality. Would have given this product 5 stars as the sound quality is superior to the yamaha receiver I replaced...if it worked. Wonderful for 3 or so months, and then the power circuit failed and I'm stuck waiting on customer service to do something. Will avoid denon going forward as this is a known issue with this product.

Have had the product for 2 weeks. Out of the box was easy to setup and get going. The main drawback is the connections for the surround speakers could have been better connectors. The main selling point of the unit is price, 5 HDMI connections, the USB in front to play MP3 music files and the multiple positive reviews Best Buy, Amazon & You Tube.

Picked this up yesterday and wired up last night. Works great so far. Had a minor issue at first getting my blu-ray player working, but that could of been my HDMI cable or one of my TV HDMI ports. Pretty straight-forward when it comes to hooking up. I'd say a huge plus is the 5 HDMI hookups on the back. Currently I have my cable box, blu-ray player, and PC hooked up. I don't have a subwoofer hooked up to it yet, but sounds great so far without it.

This is my 2nd Denon receiver. I bought it to replace a Denon that was malfunctioning yet was less than 5 years old. The only reason I stuck with Denon at the time was ease. I'd just unplug everything from one receiver & plug it all into the new one. They're very similar & you'd figure it would be that easy.
Within 2 weeks the new Denon was dropping the handshake with every device plugged into it. To get my 3D movies to work I had to turn the receiver off, this is the only way the "pass-through" would allow my DVD player to "find" the 3D display. As for watching cable? The Denon drops it's handshake with the cable box every 5 minutes, literally. It's beyond awful.
I wrote to both Denon's customer service & their main contact address on their website & was met by silence. I wasn't looking for much here. I went with an entry level receiver because I wanted to be able to plug a bunch of HDMI cables into one thing & then out to my TV. This lousy device doesn't even handle that meager task with any reliability at all.
I'll never have a Denon anything in my home again. I can't wait to replace this and then throw it off my roof. It may even be come a range target. It's worse than useless because it cost $250.

Doesn't work with Roku 4

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I bought this to use with my Roku 4 with 4k. I was excited because this seemed like a good deal with its 3 HDMI 2.2 HDCP 2.2 ports but after I connected my Roku 4 to one of the 4k ports it wouldn't display, I tried connecting it to other ports and still no luck, tired other devices in those ports and other cables and they all worked but it would not work with the Roku 4. After looking on Amazon it looks like others have had similar issues with their Roku 4 not working with this device.
I will be returning it.

This is my first Denon home theater receiver and it compares favorably to Pioneer , Onkyo , and Sony. It is bright and you can't go wrong with a receiver of this quality at this price. I am impressed and very happy with this product. If you are considering a 5.2 receiver , give this one a look !

My review is for Denon AVR-S510BT. I had a 14 years old Yamaha Receiver. I had to change it only because it didn't have HDMI connectivity. I was looking for multiple HDMI Inputs Receiver in the $200 range. Yamaha was available in the same price range but there were negative reviews on HDMI Input so I went with this one. It works well with HDMI Inputs. I am able to switch between TV and Blu Ray player using remote. Sound quality is good. What I don't like is the Automatic Turn-Off feature. I was watching Lord of the Ring-Two Towers. All of a sudden Receiver was turned off because Center Speaker couldn't handle the loud sound on in the movie frame. Why in the world Receiver would turn off instead of showing a proper message on the panel (something like, sound is loud for Center Speaker etc.)? This is dumb.

After reading tons of reviews about Sony dh550 Yamaha v381 and denon s510 I decided to go with the s510 and glad I did I matched it up with Harmon/kardon hkts 16 and it sounds amazing you can here every single detail and doesn't distort at loud levels
