It is a good entry-level receiver. It only passes through one source when off (or maybe I don't have it connected properly ). Enough power to do the job, and it will get loud enough to irritate the wife :). I am happy for what I paid for it on sale.

Great BUT, video output for DVD player flickers

I love my Denron A/V Receiver. It has great sound and features. It worked perfectly for almost 2 months. Then an occasional flicker began with my blu-ray player. Within a week it was a continuous flicker. I never suspected the Denron A/V Receiver. Since the flickering was with my Sony blu-ray player, I tried a Samsung w/the same problem. Then I tried Toshiba. It flickered too. So, I tried connecting the DVD player to all the HD inputs. They all flickered. I googled & found that this is a known fault. Denon support provided a firmware update, but after applying the update, the problem persisted. Denon suggested that I try another cable between my projector and the AVR-S510BT. It still flickered. I hooked mt DVD player directly to the cable in the wall to my projector. This worked fine. Deneon says that the input signal is too low, so I've ordered an HDMI/4K repeater (from China, so it'll take a month or more to arrive). I'll hook it between the Denon HDMI output and my projector. If that fails, I'll connect my blu-ray to the Denon blu-ray input. If that fails, I have a spare HDMI cable in the wall. I'll hook the blu-ray player directly to 1 of the cables to the projector and connect that cable to the HDMI-2 input on my projector. Since the HDMI output from the DVD player will not go to the Denon for audio, I'll hook the optical output from the DVD player to the Denon's optical input. I really like all the other features on my AVR-S510BT. So, I'm doing all I can to work around the flickering. PS - I also returned my 1st Denon to Best Buy for a replacement. It flickered too. That was the one I updated the firmware on.

Read a lot of reviews, and I'm very happy with our purchaseI. The sound, is great, and I especially love being able to get my favorite Christian radio station in CO Springs with the bluetooth function now that we live across the country in Maine!

This is an entry level receiver. It works fine for providing surround sound movies but will not rock your windows. Easy setup but NOT plug and play. If you hook it up to an HDMI cable you MUST go through entire setup to hear it play. Enjoy.

This is a great receiver for the money. Setup was extremely easy using the onscreen directions, and I was able to start watching movies within 20 minutes. I highly recommend this receiver to anyone looking for great Denon sound without spending a fortune. I had researched many receivers in the sub-500 price range prior to settling on this one, and this scored the best review points overall. I now understand why.

This system has the most amazing sound. I have paired it with my harmon Kardon surround speakers, it is crystal clear, delivers plenty of bass and has great separation. Having the ability to use my phone and bluetooth to play music through the system is a great feature as well. I really enjoyed the fact that it auto calibrates too when you set it up. I would recommend this system to anyone.

Good value having all the key features in a modern receiver (HDMI, Bluetooth, etc) at a great price. Works very well with my pricey Bose surround sound speaker system.

I got this receiver after thanksgiving. It's nice receiver for the price range. I use Bluetooth for playing songs from my iPhone. I have connected it to fire stick, HDTV antenna with digital tuner, old WII. Sound quality is good with Yamaha NS-555 floor speakers. It used to restart by itself while watching often, so I went and exchanged it for another one. New one has not restarted so far :).

I bought this receiver tor replace a Sony that was dying. I've had it for a year now and it's been great. It's very user friendly and I get really solid sound. If there was one slight draw back, I wish you could control the voice sound. There are times, it's hard to hear what is being said over the sound of what the action is. Otherwise, I'm very happy with this product.

I bought this to simplify my home theater in my man cave. Setup was very simple; just plug in hdmi's to the appropriate holes. I already had a decent speaker set and the receiver came with a microphone to augment the fine tuning. Sound quality is great, about the same as the kenwood this replaced. The only thing that perplexed me was the low quality graphic interface once things were up and running - kind of 1990ish. But like a said a good receiver for the price.

My number one priority was finding an amp that is User Friendly. The gentlemen at Best Buy both agreed Denon, without question, would be the right choice. Thank goodness for them, because yes, it's perfect. I bought this for my Dad, who is not electronic savvy, so it had to be easy to set up, and easy to use. Switching inputs is all done with the remote, and there's even a calibration microphone to make your surround system optimized. If you are looking for a basic amp that is easy to use and drive clear, quality sound to your budget set up, this is a great choice.

Overall I am pleased with this receiver. Denon was a little deceptive when stating that you can connect your media device to the receiver via the front USB port, making you believe you can play your media device through the receiver. It only charges your device....whoopee! The volume control on the remote is a bit sluggish and then super fast....no in between. I don't mean to sound so negative....clarity of music is fantastic. Decent power. So far so good!
