Too old for all this. I did not want to buy a new receiver. I wanted a 2160 resolution TV. (LG 49 inch NAN 85 is great, but the outputs were incompatible with the great old Carver receiver, so I had to buy another or not utilize the stereo I have been lugging around the country. The system is wonderful. But Geek squad has been out twice so far. There is no hard-copy manual and the on-line manual is marginally helpful, at best. Things were fine and then I dropped something on the remote that changed the settings. Now I cannot figure out how to get any sound out of it at all. I don't need the ability to make upgrades to sewage systems in Western New York although I a certain this receiver cold do that, as well as launch nuclear missiles in North Dakota if I had the codes. I just want sound comin out of my 6 great speakers. Is that too much to ask? Finally, once again, I will mention how very terrible Best Buys out-of-store systems ae--telephones, chat lines, 800 numbers, e.g., I called the Geek Squad 800 number hoping someone could help me diagnose and correct the problem. I asked for tech support from the menu. A very nice fellow informed me that he is not a technician and all he does is schedule appointments. Not completely useless, but very close.

I had to upgrade from my old Onkyo 607 which was a beast for me back then. I bought this Denon because I needed the two subwoofers option this thing just kicks. This is your entry level receiver but I really enjoy everything that comes with this package. I have this paired up with my 75 LG 4K tv and man the surround sound the ease of opreation is so easy. So many other thing this receiver can do I am still finding thing is can use. Our family room is now great for movie watching ,gaming and best of all watching tv. I have a 5.2 system and I enjoy cranking up our favorite content and being able to feel like I am in a home theater. The remote is so easy big buttons lights up at night just a well rounded receiver never had Denon before always Onkyo so glad i made the jump both are very good receivers.

I had been ready for a receiver upgrade for awhile with the onset of Bluetooth so I could wirelessly connect to my iTunes library. I'd had my eye on Denon receivers for some time based on my uncle's experience with them. Finally broke down and purchased the AVR-S650H due to the extensive features included and reasonable price...5.2 channels, 4K capability, multiple HDMI inputs, HEOS wireless streaming of music channels and radio stations. My only critique is that, although I consider myself a bit of a techie, I've found the unit a little difficult to operate at times. There are a lot of bells and whistles on this model, and the manual is completely online, which poses a convenience issue, because the manual uses links throughout the document, some of which aren't very clear. Settings can be challenging to get set correctly to your liking, so make sure you know that going in. I am still learning the ins and outs of the unit, so I'm hoping it will get easier to operate. If you are tech savvy, this shouldn't be an issue, and would make a great unit.

I am not an audiophile. I wanted a receiver that gave me good sound, was easy enough to set up, worked with my old Onkyo speakers, was 4k and HDR capable. This box filled the bill. It probably has tons of capabilities that I will never use. I'm ok with that. It did what I wanted, sounded fine to my ear and was at a good price point.

I owned the denom 1908 and upgraded to this one. I had no issues with this unit sounds great. Easy to set up and plenty of power for my speakers. The app is ok but its nice I can keep the receiver updated. I went with this unit becuase of the name.

Upgraded from Denon 591 to 650h with great results. Sound is amazing, easy set up, great internet connection, did I mention great sound yet.... Good deal for the price of 399. Only bummer it does not upscale to 4k, but still worth the price

This the second Denon Receiver that I have bought this year as both of my prior receivers, both Denon and probably more than 10 years old, died. This one was a slightly nicer version than the one purchased a few months ago, but both work great. Prior to buying this one, I purchased an open box Yamaha receiver (with 7 channels) that was a few hundred dollars more. That receiver had terrible instructions and way more than I needed. I decided to return it and stick with the Denon models. Best Buy had a very small inventory of receivers, but this one was easy to set up and sounds great.

This is just what I needed! I bought it to replace an aging unit and to upgrade to 4K capability. The space it will be used in doesn’t require a lot of power to drive the system. This unit supplies enough power to drive the surround speakers and woofer. I’m pleased with what I’m hearing from all sides! It goes well with the 4K TV I recently purchased. Another reason for its purchase. I had it installed, for a small sum, by the Best Buy Geek Squad. I’m happy with the service they provided and the added assurance that the unit was hooked up and running properly. Now, all I have to do is sit back and enjoy!

At first I was skeptical of Denon, as I was replacing a 13 year old Onkyo receiver that could no longer sync audio correctly with my new 4k tv. After a LOT of research I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. A few factors went into my decision, one it was one that matched my speaker specifications perfectly, and the other factors were its video passthrough and ALLM (auto low latency mode) for gaming. The picture and sound quality are fantastic on this unit, I see almost zero loss in picture quality and sound. I really did not know what I was missing for sound in movies and video games until this unit. Set up was easy, my only gripe about the unit is it is a little sketchy with online radio and apple air play it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but those features were only bonus for me they were no way a selling point. Overall I really do like this receiver. The GUI looks way outdated, and it did take me a little time to fine tune my preferences but now it works like a champ. Im glad I went with it, You should definitely give it a try. It is an all around high performer for movies, tv, gaming, and music that is budget friendly.

My son and I replaced an older receiver that was having problems with this Denon. The price was excellent for the features it has. Setup was fairly easy using the HEOS app. Auto speaker settings worked pretty good and the sound quality is great. With the Denon AVR Remote app, you can control the sound settings as well as manually change volume settings on each of the surround sound speakers. And we use Alexa to turn on or off receiver the same time we turn off the TV and Satellite receiver. Very happy with this purchase!

This unit replaced my previous Denon (comparable 5.2 receiver). Set up was easy utilizing the onscreen tutorial (really liked using the speaker microphone to set & balance the sound for the speakers). One negative (relative to my previous Denon unit) is that it seems more limited in selections for some of the sound surround options (unless I just haven't found them yet - and, no, I have not yet taken the time to pour through the online manual). In the end, gets the job done (for my modest sized - 13x18 - condo living room) at a reasonable price.

The denon 650h is a great unit it powers all of my pioneer standing speakers, center, and bookshelf speakers with great sound and it's plenty loud the hdmi arc works perfectly and need I say more It has 2 subwoofer outs which I can finally use my pioneer sw 10 and my polk psw 505 for wall shaking bass ha! I love it I didn't need more than 5.2 channel surround, Dolby atmos is a fad at best if I wanted a cinema experience I'd go to the movies. This thing rocks for gaming I'm happy with my purchase

This was my first dive into a full home theater setup and this receiver has been a breeze to both set up and calibrate but also use daily. I have also used it with PS5 and PC gaming and the pass through worked without a hitch. I would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a very capable AVR that handles 5.1/5.2 setups perfectly.

This receiver is superb. The picture quality is awesome but the sound will blow you away. These devices have come a long way since I bought my last one about 20 years ago. It takes a short while to set it up and it's easy to use. I love it's interactive sound adjusting. I find it very hard to turn off the unit wether it's music or TV.

Very happy with this receiver. I needed something that could consolidate multiple HDMI sources into one output for a pre-run HDMI cable built into the wall for a TV above the fireplace. This model is easy to set up and works perfectly. The additional features are an added bonus and the price point makes it an excellent value.

Great equipment. Fair price. Prompt delivery. I could not be more pleased with the performance of both Best Buy and the Denon AVR-650H. The Denon is easy to install and very easy to set up. It drives my 5.1 system beautifully and integrates flawlessly with my Samsung TV via the HDMI eARC hookup.
