My older, much higher end Denon died on Superbowl Sunday. This one was in stock and was a 5.2 which was all I needed. I will say this, compared to my old one (at least 10-12 years old), this one sounds MUCH better for both TV and Stereo. Even the dolby surround is more noticeable (and yes, I tuned it with their audyssey setup). Except... this one seems to have a lot less power than my old one. I'm powering two Definitive towers up front (with subs) and this one just won't go up to 11. It is loud - loud enough for my wife to tell me to turn it down, but not the "Dad is home alone and wants to blast it" loud. Still, very happy with the purchase for the price.

I've had the receiver for about a month and it was easy to set up. Using the microphone to calibrate the speakers works great. This receiver check a lot of boxes when it comes to features.

Outstanding once you adapt for the HDMI flaw

The sound is absolutely brilliant, just outstanding. This replaced an older Onkyo 5.1 receiver, and the difference is night and day. Set up takes patience, but it's worth it. The big problem I had was with the HDMI inputs ...I was getting intermittent snowy picture when watching Comcast cable, but the Blu-Ray/ DVD picture was fine. It took hours of trying different settings, swapping out cables, and finally internet research revealed that this snowy picture issue is caused by the distance the HDMI input is from the HDMI output to the TV ("monitor") ...yes, unbelievably, the fix was not using the HDMI input labeled "CBL/SAT" (farthest input from the HDMI monitor output) and instead plugging into the closest HDMI input ("media player"). Problem solved. It is silly such a quality product has such a blatant flaw ...but I like the sound so much that I still give this a top rating. The only other annoyance is the sound adjustment on the remote is too sensitive ...the volume goes up and down way too fast, and getting it to the volume you want is challenging ...you inevitably go too high, then too low, then use micro-touches to zero in on the volume you want. Again, great great receiver, just a couple quirks.

I love how this incorporates all my inputs like Xbox One X, Xbox 360 and DVR and allows me to play them through my tv and surround sound. It also has a decent app to play music through minus Apple radio or streaming. (I didn’t figure that out) It was quite tricky to get my Xbox One X setup as the bypass instead of the DRV. I needed to be able to shut off the sound so I could use my headset for games and chat without having the receiver on. It is in the settings. I also had to completely reset the receiver in order to connect it to my Apple HomeKit. There wasn’t an 8-digit number to set up and it wouldn’t allow me to connect by being close. Once I figured it out m, it has been amazing! I love it!

This was bought to replace a Sony receiver that didn't have ARC HDMI connections and was an added bonus with the extras that I wasn't really looking for. Great sound and ease of setup.

Powerful receiver packs a really good punch. I was looking for a receiver to just play my phonograph that had on board phono input and could play on several different speakers that I had. Give everything setup and the sound was alright. Downloaded the apps and made some changes and the sound was amazing. You can control almost everything from your phone. Access music libraries on idle machines or cloud drives. You can even connect it to your television, which for me is in a different room. I've been trying to figure out a way to incorporate it all into one. Really good piece of machinery. Glad to have found it.

I replaced an old Harmon Kardon receiver that would no longer stay on. It’s for a small living room- CD player and radio only with some vintage speakers- no TV. The sound quality is noticeably better - a major upgrade. CDs sound great even with my low end speakers. I haven’t been able to connect it to my WiFi network- but that isn’t a priority. Also haven’t hooked up to Pandora. May look at wireless speakers someday. The unit assumes you have a TV screen for setup which hampers setup. However, I found the info online no problem. So if this unit holds up over time- I am thrilled.

This AVR is a pretty solid performer. The Helios feature is nice but I haven't had a lot of time to play with it. I found one shortcoming in that the AVR has an either/or option for outputting audio to the speakers or the TV. That's kind of a pain when I want to use my bluetooth headphones connected to my LG TV. You have to select which HDMI to pass through when the unit is off. My old Onkyo was a lot more userfriendly. So I chose the HDMI connection I use the most and leave the AVR off when I want to listen connected via bluetooth. This AVR is also more expensive than similar Yamaha and Onkyo products.

This is the second Denon we have in the house. We finished our basement so I figured I'd stick with Denon. We have an older AVR-1100X and this seemed like the newer version of that. Overall the AVR-S650H is easy to use, eligible for use with Denon's new remove iOS app, and has worked without issue. AirPlay2 feels like it works faster than our older unit. I do have it hard-wired to ethernet so I cannot speak to the wifi performance. It's paired with a Polk Audio speaker set and there's plenty of boom for the room that we never need to turn up the volume much.

I like the setup, and while I wish I could just directly play music thru it via Bluetooth, the Helos app works well on my phone and I have never had an issue. The surround sound is great and with a RCA adapter I was able to connect my older subwoofer with no problem. I actually bought this because I had found a used AVR-S540 for my girlfriend's gaming room and she loved it, so I went looking for another for the house, and wound up buying this model new. For the price-point it's a pretty impressive little system.

Great home theater amp for the price. Replaced a high end Maranz that was just not user friendly that had a difficult remote. This Denton is a breeze to set up, user interface screen is really easy to navigate. Remote is likewise VERY user friendly. The sound quality is better than I expected for this price. It’s speaker setup program is spot on. I did not have to adjust any of the 5 channels after setup. The only downside is the manual equalizer setup is overly simple with no frequency graph and you get the feeling their focus was on the auto setup of features.

We had a Onkyo receiver that we purchased 17 years ago and it finally went out on us. Read a few reviews about this one and noticed a lot of good comments. A lot of the people that purchased it also had Onkyo receivers and said that it was like the ones they had but a little better. Gave it a try and ended up liking it better then the old one we had. The one thing I liked the most was how it came with a sensor to configure the speaker distance from the listening area on its own. Much easier then trying to do it on your own. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
