Customers are impressed with the AVR-X4700H's sound quality, ease of use, and setup process. Many appreciate its powerful performance across multiple channels and the inclusion of Dolby Atmos. While some found the price high and noted that the unit can get warm during use, the positive feedback on features and sound quality outweighs these concerns. The receiver's extensive features and capabilities are also frequently praised.

Amazing AV receiver. Has more channels than most people need, but sound is excellent and TV image quality is first class. Only downside is occasional hung HDMI links that need to be de-selected then re-selected to get them to re-sync.

Amazing avr plent of power effects and adjustments just for me id recommend the 3700 being almost 500dollars cheaper your only losing about 20watts compared to the 4700 and some minor features but you cant really go wrong with any denon reciever

This is one of the best, top of the line products, and it's worth every penny if you are an audio enthusiast. It might be quite expensive for a lot of people though, so I did take a star off because of this, and you only gain a few things extra for the price tag. It is HDMI 2.1 ready, so that means 8K and 4k 120hz for PS5 and XBSX. It's super easy to set up and use, and it sounds amazing!

I purchased this to replace an older model 4K receiver to go along with my home theater upgrade. This receiver allows me to watch HDR content for the first time. It also has dual outputs so I can connect my TV and projector at the same time.
However there have been issues with it. I have to disable one of the TV input when I'm watching the projector. That in and of itself isn't a problem. But I keep having various minor problems getting all the HDMI connected devices to work the way they are supposed to work. The Best Buy crew who installed everything couldn't fix the problems and finally recommended just turning off all the bells and whistles so now instead of being able to use one or two remotes and have everything work at the push of a button, I have to manually select everything and use a bunch of different remotes.

Brand response from Denon Team

First, we would like to thank you for your purchase and for leaving us your feedback. There may be EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) communication errors between your sources, TV, and receiver. Be sure that all sources in the chain have the HDMI control option activated, including the receiver. There also may be video out settings within the receiver we can try (i/p scaler, for example). Also, issues may occur when using longer than usual HDMI runs. Using an HDMI Balun kit instead of an HDMI cable will often fix the problem. Please get in touch with our Denon Support team for further assistance. https://support.denon.com/ We look forward to speaking with you.

Firstly, I'm downgrading due to an online user's manual that is hard to follow (prompting the user to click on link after link after link to solve issues). If customization (in the form of user preferences) is difficult, what is the point of spending extra money on features that are nested too deeply in print? I would like to see at least one pair of 'Audio Out' analog jacks for recording or monitoring purposes on these high-dollar receivers. The Audyssey mic set up is a little redundant on sensor positioning. Heat has not been a factor, so far. Pass-through on receiver stand-by is a real power saver. One nugget to pass along on set up: Make sure you make ALL connections BEFORE twisting in your Bluetooth antennas. They are fragile and inherently in the way at inopportune times. Functional alternative tripod included.

If you can afford it, buy it. This is my 4th Denon. Every day I turn it on, I am a picture of a guy in his on place and time. Paired with the right speakers, the X4700H is hard to beat, IMHO. I'm running Reference Premiers all around it. Home theatre or music; the sound is so satisfying!

Enjoying the new surround sound system. I didn’t realize that utilizing a Universal remote and creating 3 different zones would require special programming unique to my system. If my system fails, probably only the technician who installed it would be able to troubleshoot it. Please advise if that’s the case.

Using this for a 9.2 atmos setup and it is beautiful. Provides clean power to all the speakers and love the audio setup once I figured it out. Fantastic performance for movies and music and connects to my alexa system to create a complete home audio system.

This is a big boy product. I love love love the sound quality. So warm and powerful. You can tune this thing however you wish. You can’t go wrong. I was torn between this one and the Marantz SR7015. Made the right decision!!!

This is my second Denon receiver in the last 10 years. The sound is great, and the features are plentiful. I'm dropping it one star because of the HDMI issue with the early production. I did get the adaptor, so it is fully functional, but not ideal.

I needed to upgrade my old Denon because I needed to be able to pass a 4K signal through the receiver. This unit is great. I now have 4K video and Dolby Atmos sound. This is my third Denon and they have always been great.

Everything you would expect to get from a world class AVR you get in Denon's new 4700. Super simple setup. Every video and audio configuration imaginable in the latest formats. Very few manufacturers offer all the bells and whistles that this receiver does.

A very nice piece of audio/video gear! The remote is not backlit but relatively intuitive. On the plus side the remote will operate a tv. Replaced a Yam 2080 that was less than 1yr. old. Worst piece of gear I've ever owned. ease of use, Denon WINS!

Better than expected. Setup was very easy and Audyssey has improved greatly in 10 years since my AVR-999. Secondary zones much better since it downconverts digital input to analog. I no longer have to connect sources in both digital and analog.
