Was nervous replacing my older 4311 which I loved, but wanted all the latest features. Great sound and features, everything I wanted.

Set this new Denon Receiver into place last weekend and have been playing with it on & off for a week. So far it has done quite well. Still getting used to the Atmos Surrounds as my room is not well designed for "immersion" audio. More movies & music is planned for this weekend.

Exactly what I expected from Denon. I don't know why Best Buy is asking for a review after having owned it such a short time but it's working fine so far.

The folks at Denon really put their hearts and souls into this receiver. I upgraded from a Denon avr-x4400h, and the sound difference between the two is considerable. The x6500 provides strong, crisp and clear sound, and is well balanced. It powers my 9.2 speaker klipsch reference premier setup effortlessly. It also plays music better than the 4400, as I can now hear all of the musical instruments and other nuances that I didn't hear with the 4400 when playing different tracks. The dialog when watching 4K/bluray movies, as well as standard content is near exceptional. The bass reproduction is also strong and very detailed as well. My only criticism is that the receiver gets extremely hot at the top near the front of the unit. However based on what I've read, this is normal operation for this unit, as the amp boards and heat sinks are located in this area. So make sure there is adequate ventilation in the location where the unit is to be installed. An Aircom T8, T9, or T10 cooling fan system wouldn't be a bad idea either. This unit is very expensive however, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

It is only because I purchased the (now rare discontinued) Oppo ultra high def 203 that I decided to upgrade to the Denon 6400h. A great decision on both counts! This Denon is perfect for the “reasonable” audiophile. A multichannel beast with virtually every bell or whistle someone like me could ask for. I have been using it for less than a year and have really loved it. Highly recommended!

Running a full Polk RTI-series 11.1 setup (room design prevents 11.2) with this and dear God, movie theaters are a step down now. I had to up my game with my TV (82" qled) and a true 4k player to keep up on the video side. I've run surround setups for over 20 years (Sony -> Harman Kardon -> Yamaha -> Denon) and this is light years beyond anything I've come across. Can't wait to pair it with a Monolith 11-channel next year. :O Only minor gripe: the inputs are named instead of numbered. Future releases should be numbered and names should be adjustable. But I'm a UX person - totally not worth dinging the score unless I could somehow give it a 4.9. :P
