Before reviewing 3930ci, let me quickly tell you about another DVD player I purchased to put the 3930ci into prospective. Back in 1998 I purchased a Sony DVD player (model # S550D) for about $300.00. To this day, I've never had one single problem with this cheap player and to this day, the Sony still works flawlessly and as though it was still new. And now the Denon 3930ci: I purchased this Denon unit for $1500 and took it home. Setup was easy. First thing I noticed was that the sound and video quality far exceeded any DVD player I've ever owned or seen. Sound and Video quality blew away the Sony DVD player. After initial setup, I rarely touched the player, I would use the remote all the time. After a year, this unit had a difficult time reading some disc and after 18 months, it would not read any disc at all. The unit would lock up and not read even brand new discs. I never touched player, how can it break? I sent it to Denon to get repaired. With only a one year warrenty, I was charged $300.00 dollars for the repair. A week ago, I got the Denon DVD player back from Denon's repair shop. It works good, for now... I am dissapointed in the fact that such an expensive player broke down after only a year and a half of service. The Sony still has not broke down after being in service since 1998.
